Speakers’ Profiles

Er. Cong Zhengxia is the Chairperson of IStructE Singapore Regional


Group, one of the most active and respected technical committee. She
leads the committee to work with both internal and external industry
partners to share insights, knowledge, experience and technical expertise
through regular seminars, brown bag talks and site visits, to nurture a solid
engineering fraternity that can take on more complex challenges.
She is currently a Senior Director of Engineering (Building) with Woh Hup
(Private) Limited. She has led the department to growth and success through
exceptional leadership, technical expertise, and team mentorship. She is dedicated to fostering a
positive and productive team environment, resulting in the design optimization and successful
completion of some of Singapore’s most iconic projects such as Reflections at Keppel Bay,
Conservatory Complex at Garden by the Bay and most recently Jewel Changi Airport.
Er. Cong is also a fellow of the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE), a UK Chartered Engineer
and a Singapore Professional Engineer (PE Civil & PE Geotechnical).

Er. Wijaya Wong, ST MSc is one of the committee members of


IStructE Singapore Regional Group, spearheading the institution’s
outreach to the regional countries. He graduated with Bachelor Degree
from Universitas Tarumanagara and Master Degree from National
University of Singapore.
He is experienced in design and project delivery of infrastructure, industrial,
commercial, residential and institutional projects. He has worked on projects
in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China and Sri Lanka.
One of the highlighted projects under his portfolio, when he worked with Arup, is the Marina Bay
Sands Integrated Resort, of which he is the professional engineer responsible for design (Qualified
Person Design) for the three hotel towers and basement. He provided strong leadership for a team of
engineers and technicians delivering structural design and construction supports for the project. With
his in-depth technical and management capability, he resolved complex technical challenges of the
design and construction.
He is currently Managing Director of WYN, a multi-disciplinary engineering consultants based in
Singapore and Jakarta.
Er. Wong is a licenced Professional Engineer in Singapore and Indonesia; and a Chartered Engineer
in UK.
Er. Dr. Tran Chi Trung is currently a Director of Building
Engineering Group in BCA. His 20 years of research and professional
experience has been in the areas of steel-concrete composite structures,
high-rise buildings and large span roof structures.
He serves as Assistant Honour Secretary of the IES/IStructE Joint
Committee and a Council member of the Singapore Structural Steel
Society. He is also Chairman of SAC Technical Committee for Structural
Steelwork Inspection and a member of several technical committees and
working groups to review and develop design codes, standards and guidelines, such as the Singapore
Standard SS674 for Design of Fibre Concrete Structures, the SCDF Fire Code and the WSH Design
for Safety Guidelines.
Er. Dr. Tran is a licenced Professional Engineer in Singapore and a Chartered Engineer in UK.

Assoc. Prof Poh Leong Hien is the Associate Head (Academic


Matters) in the National University of Singapore (NUS), Department of
Civil and Environmental Engineering. He oversees the MSc(Civil
Engineering) and MSc(Environmental Engineering) programmes in NUS,
and has helped to curate and revamp specialised tracks in these programmes,
to address the evolving needs of the industry in the built environment.

He is also the director of the NUS Centre for Protective Technology. His
research interests lie in the mechanics underlying the failure of materials and structures, with a focus
on the response of infrastructures against dynamic loading. He is currently working of the progressive
collapse analysis of precast concrete structures, as well as the resistance of various composites and/or
cementitious materials against impact loading conditions.
