System initial setting:
This setting is required only when changing battery type and setting the exposure condition at
power on.
Setting of battery type:
1. Set DIP switch SW2-3-8 NEXSC ON and turn on power of the unit.
2. The set code is displayed at the right most digit of the mAS display. Set the code to “3”
using the mAS - and mAS + sign.
3. To register the setting, press the registration key and hold until being displayed as “CAL
END”. Note: factory-shipped setting is “3”.

How to get into adjustment mode:
Set DIP switch SW3-8 NEXSC ON and turn on power. Confirm that “TEC” is displayed on the
control panel.
Adjustment mode list:
To change adjustment mode from page 1 to page 2 and vice versa, press the Obese key.

mA Calibration:
To display the
measured value
• Set DIP switch SW2-5 NEXSC ON to display the measured value of the KV and mA.
The exposure time setting is performed using the film density (-) and (+) key. The
relationship is
as follow:
-3 = 6.3 ms
-2 = 12.5ms
-1 = 25ms
0 = 50ms (recommended)
+1= 100 ms
• The recommended measured value should be equal or less than the set value.
Method1:
Tube current two-point calibration mode
Note: FVR value is adjusted at two-points 80kv, 50mA and 80kv,160mA.
1. Set DIP switch SW3-8 NEXSC ON and turn power of the unit on.
2. Press the “Head” key to enter the tube current two-point adjustment mode.
3. Set the tube voltage and tube current: KV is fixed at 80kv. Set mA to 50 mA first.
4. Press the “Remote control” key to enable FVR adjustment. (Press the “Remote
control” key again to get out of FVR mode).
5. Execute an exposure by using the handswitch.
6. The relationship between FVR value and mA:
Reduce FVR value à Reduce mA.
Increase FVR value à Increase mA.
FVR value can be changed by pressing the KV (-) and (+) sign.
7. To save the FVR value, press the Registration key.
8. Set mA to 160 mA and repeat step 5 to 7.
Method2: (Recommended method)
Tube current each-point calibration mode
Note: The table below shows the KV and mA for each-point adjustment mode.

1. Set DIP switch SW3-8 NEXSC ON and turn the power of the unit on.
2. Press the “Chest” key to enter the tube current each-point adjustment mode.
3. Set the tube voltage and tube current. Start with 40KV and 50mA.
4. Press the “Remote control” key to enable FVR adjustment. (Press the “Remote
control” key again to get out of FVR mode)
8. Move to another point and repeat step 5 to 7.
Battery voltage detection circuit adjustment:
When exchanging MUX POWER, MUX CHARGE or XCONT board, be sure to make this
adjustment in the following step:
1. Set SW3-8 on NEXSC board to ON and turn on power to the unit.
2. Press the “Leg” Key to measure the positive (+) voltage. Use the voltmeter and measure
the positive voltage between test point TER3 and TER5 (common) on MUX POWER
board.
3. Press the “mAS – “ , “mAS +” until the display match the actual measured voltage (+/-
0.2V). Register the value by pressing the Registration Key.
4. Press the “Foot” Key to measure the negative (-) voltage. Measure the negative voltage
between test point TER5 and TER4 on MUX POWER board.
5. Press the “mAS – “ , “mAS +” until the display match the actual measured voltage (+/-
0.2V). Register the value by pressing the Registration Key.
Checking Battery charging:
1. Plug the unit to the power outlet (120VAC).
2. Set SW3-8 on NEXSC board to ON. Note: With the unit plug to the wall and SW3-8 on. It
is no need to turn the power on.
3. Press the “Obese” Key to move to adjustment mode page 2. Wait for about 10sec
4. Using oscilloscope, connect the probe to the cathode of diode D2 and GND on MUX
CHARGE board. Set the scope to 2V/div and 5ms/div.
5. Confirm that the waveform is similar to the figure 1 shown below. If not, please inform
Shimadzu Medical systems Tech support group.
6. Unplug the unit from the power outlet.
Figure 1.
Collimator lamp voltage adjustment:
If the collimator light bulb was broken frequently, it is possible that the collimator voltage applied
to the light bulb is higher than 12VAC. Measure the voltage across the lamp terminals and adjust
VR1 on the MUX CHARGE board to the appropriate value (normally 12VAC or less).
