IATF Roadmap
IATF Roadmap
organizations need to follow in order to obtain IATF 16949 certification, which is a quality
management system standard specifically for the automotive industry. Here are the general
steps involved in the IATF certification process:
1. Study the requirements: The first step is to study the requirements of both ISO
9001:2015 and IATF 16949:2016 standards. It is important to understand the specific
requirements and criteria that need to be met for certification.
2. Perform Gap Analysis: Conduct a thorough analysis of your organization's current
quality management system to identify any gaps or areas that need improvement in
order to meet the IATF standards. This analysis will help you determine the steps
needed to bridge those gaps.
3. Plan: Develop a detailed plan that outlines the actions and resources required to meet
the IATF certification requirements. This plan should include timelines,
responsibilities, and milestones.
4. Educate Your Organization: Provide training and education to your employees to
ensure they understand the IATF requirements and their roles in implementing the
necessary changes. This may involve conducting workshops, seminars, or internal
training programs.
5. Design & Document: Develop and implement the necessary processes, procedures,
and documentation required by the IATF standards. This includes creating quality
manuals, work instructions, control plans, and other relevant documents.
6. Use & Improve Your QMS: Implement the designed processes and procedures within
your organization's quality management system (QMS). Monitor and measure the
effectiveness of your QMS and continuously improve it based on feedback and data
analysis.
7. Audit: The initial certification process is performed in two stages: Stage 1 and Stage
2. The Stage 1 audit involves a readiness review, where the certification body
evaluates your organization's preparedness for the certification process. The Stage 2
audit is the main certification audit, where the certification body assesses the
implementation and effectiveness of your QMS.
8. Non-conformity management: If any non-conformities are identified during the audit,
you will need to address them and implement corrective actions to resolve the issues.
9. Certification: Once all the requirements are met and any non-conformities are
resolved, the certification body will issue the IATF 16949 certification to your
organization.
It's important to note that the IATF certification process may vary slightly depending on the
certification body and specific industry requirements. It is recommended to consult with an
accredited certification body for detailed information and guidance on the certification
process.
