General Construction Note
1
Concrete: 1
General:
01- All cast-in-place Structural Concrete (footing, tie-Column, tie-Beam, Slab & Stair) are M25 Concrete with Specified Compressive
01-All notes in this sheet are applicable to all Structural drawings/detials unless mentioned otherwise. Strength of Fc= 250 kg/cm2 (3500 psi), with the following mix properties :
02-All dimensions indicated on drawings are in centimeter units (CM) unless noted otherwise. Max Gravel size(25mm)
Max W/C (0.55) and Slump (75-125mm)
03-All Elevation and Levels are in Centimeter (CM) and Referenced to Nearest Side walk Level as directed by the Site Engineer.
Minimum cement content of (625Kg/m3).
04- All dimensions, elevations and levels shall be confirmed on site by the contractor through confirmatory survey.
2 2
05- Contractor shall coordinate these drawings with Architectural and all services drawings including Plumbing, Electrical, Mechanical ETC, for size 02- Mix design should be done as per ACI-318-8 , and verified before casting and approved by the Quality Control or Site Engineer.
and location of all openings required for pipe sleeves, electrical conduits, Ducts and other items to embedded in concrete or otherwise
03- All construction joints shall be roughened/chipped, cleaned and then cement-grouted before new concreting.
incorporated in structural works.
04- No opening shall be made in concrete works without written permission of the engineer.
06- The Structure has been designed and detailed with IBC-2006 , ACI-318-08 , ACI 350 and IS code requirements.
05- Vibrators must be used for all concreting works,
Foundation: 06- Freshly placed concrete shall be protected from rain, dust, and sun rays. Concrete to be cured for 7days as required by the Engineer
3 using fresh water and covered with hessian cloth. 3
01-Excavation safety and that of adjoining existing structures and proper backfilling , shall be the Responsibility of the Contractor 07- Admixture to be used only after written approval of the QC Engineer.
,however in case of any apprehension; same can be discussed with the engineer regarding viable methodology. 08- Minimum 3 nos. of concrete cylinders shall be taken on each day of concreting, for each batching of concrete or as per specifications.
02- All foundations shall rest on firm and virgin soil ( footing shall no be placed on ordinary filling), pockets of loose soil, if encountered 09- Mixing, placing, compacting, curing, form work and quality testing of concrete & steel must be done according to the required specifications.
shall be Removed and replaced with Granular Materials (Classified soil or Select Material).
03- Foundation design is based on allowable bearing capacity of 1 kgf/cm2
reported by geotechnical Engineer, in order to keep settlement within tolerable limits (50mm). Reinforcement:
4 04- The sub-grade beneath Foundation shall be Leveled and then compacted as 98% MDD. 4
01- All reinforcing bars denoted by "Ф" on structural drawings shall be deformed bars confirming to ASTM A-615 Grade- 60 with minimum
05- Preparing of Granular Material (Boulder+River Gravel & Sand), and Then Compacted if as well as required.
Yield Strength of FY = 4000 kg/cm2 (60,000 psi). the development length of 48db is to be used.
Preparing of Leveling
02- Unless otherwise mentioned on drawings clear concrete cover to reinforcement shall be as follows:
06- Plinth Protection Slab, at least 1.20m wide ,Sloping away from the building Must be Provided around the structure to reduce ingress of
(A) Surface exposed directly to earth:
water to foundation soil, immediately after foundation construction .
1- Footings contact to Earth .............................. c = 75mm
5 5
(B) Surface exposed directly to Air:
Masonry Work:
1- Beams .......................... c = 40mm, from stirrup.
01- Stone masonry with 1:4 cement and sand mortar, to be used in foundation works. 2- Columns ....................... c = 40mm, from stirrup.
02- quarry stone used in foundation shall have adequate strength and durability, stone quality shall be confirmed by site engineer. 3- Slabs .................................. c = 25mm, or max. db
03- Brick masonry with 1:4 cement and sand mortar, to be used as Load Bearing walls .
Abbreviations:
04- Burn Clay Brick shall be used with Min Compressive Strength of F'c>80 kg/cm2 , A-Grade with best quality.
6 01- RB = Ring Beam 6
05- All bricks shall be saturated will (submerged 24 hours in water) before usage, to form appropriate bond with mortar. because we didnt have soil test.
02- F = Footing
06- All External Walls shall be insulated with 50mm thick polystyrene from exterior side. 03- CF = Combine Footing the design of structures have been done base on below information.
07- PCC (Lean Concrete ) for Leveling Course shall be M15 with compressive strength of (Fc= 150kg/cm2 or 2000 psi). 04- C = Column
specific weight of soil = 1800kgf/m3 - internal frictional angle = 35 degree
08 -PCC for Floor Finishing and Plinth Slab shall be M20 concrete with compressive strength of (Fc= 200kg/cm2 or 3000 psi). 05- B = Beam
soil allowable bearing capacity= 1 kgf/cm2- spring stiffness per unit area= 1000000 kgf/m3
06- S = Slab
09-Plastering to be used with 1:3 cements and sand mortars and the concrete surface shall be scratched/roughened & powdered
7 7
by cement before plastering 07- d = depth of slab
10- All masonry works (brick, plaster and finishing) shall be cured for minimum of 3 days consequently.
