Computer Class : Five

Unit#3: Cyber Crimes

Q#1: What are cyber crimes?

Ans: Computer crimes are called cyber crime. In this crime computer or networks are used or attacked by
unauthorized person.

Q#2: How many types of cyber crime ?

Ans: i. computer viruses ii. hacking iii. Denial of service attack iv.Software piracy

v.IRC crimes vi. credit card fraud vii. Cyber extortion viii.Phishing

ix.Cyber stalking

Q#3:What is a virus?

Ans: Viruses are programs which corrupt data or occupy much of memory of computer.

Q#4:Define time bomb.

Ans: Time bomb is a virus that gets activated at a certain date or time

Q#5: What is software privacy?

Ans: illegal use of copyrighted material without authorization is called piracy. It is usually done by illegally copying a
software. The pirates usually sell it for the original software.

Q#6: How do the criminals get access to credit details?

Ans: Criminals either hack or use phishing techniques to get credit card access.

Q#7: What is called the crime of harassing others using computers?

Ans: Harassing somebody persistently through computer is called cyber stalking.

Q#8. Write in detail about the denial of service attack?

Ans: As a result of this attack, the user may not use certain services, for example, the Internet or email service. In
the same way there may be a lot of spam. It is done by consuming a lot of memory of the computer.

Q#9. Some programs are to be installed on certain number of computers. What will you call the crime if the
software is installed on a greater number of computers?

Ans: The crime of installing software on a greater number of computers is called software piracy.

a) Phishing b) Hacking c) Extortion d) Denial of service attack

4. The criminals use the collected information to

a) befriend b) harass others

c) give them useful information d) protect the information collected

5. A lot of spam results in

a) Phishing b) Extortion c) Hacking d) Denial of service

C) Write T for the true and F for the false statements.

1. Computer viruses are useful computer programs. F

2. Rabbits and bacteria create many instances of themselves. T

3. The pirates usually sell pirated software as pirated) F

4. International Relay Chat (IRC) servers give the facility of chatting with your contacts only. F

5. Phishing criminals claim to be a famous organization. T

D) Fill in the blanks with the appropriate words.

(emails, e-crimes, Trojan horses, memory, phishing, network)

1. Cybercrimes are also called e-crimes.

2. Viruses spread through USB memory sticks, CDs/DVDs, emails, the Internet, and the network.

3. Trojan horses are usually disguised as a game.

4. A lot of spam results in the consumption of memory.

5. Phishing filters protect users by alerting users to potentially fraudulent websites.

Unit#4:Robots
Q# 1. What is a robot?

Ans: A robot is an automatic mechanical device often resembling a human or animal, controlled by a computer.
Robots are programmed to perform different tasks. They can do a special task over and over again. Robots can also
interact with their surroundings

Q#2. Name the types of robots you have studied in the unit.

Ans: The unit describes six types of robots:

industrial robots, laboratory robots, explorer robots, hobbyist robots, classroom robots, and entertainment robots.

Q#3. What are the characteristics of robots? Name them.

Ans: Primary characteristics of robots are their abilities of sensing, movement, intelligence, and ability to store
energy to work with it.

4. How do robots work?

Ans: A robot gets the input from the environment through sensors. This input is forwarded to the processor. The
processor sends information for necessary action according to the program installed in it. This instruction is carried
out by the robot body. In this way, a robot works just like a computer.

Q#5. What is a humanoid robot? Give examples of humanoid robots.

Ans: A humanoid robot appears like a human being. It can interact with humans and things made for humans. In
general humanoid robots have a torso with a head, two arms and two legs, although some forms of humanoid
robots may model only part of the body, for example, from the waist up. Some humanoid robots may also have a
face, with eyes and mouth. TOPIO and ASIMO are humanoid robots.
Q#6: What is ASIMO?

Ans: ASIMO is a humanoid robot developed by Honda It is the most developed humanoid robot.

Q#7: What can ASIMO do?

Ans: ASIMO can do a number of things. Some of them are as follows:

• It can lift heavy objects and go upstairs and downstairs.

• It can run at the speed of 6 km per hour.

• It interprets the positioning and movement of hands. It, therefore, can react to a handshake, for example.

• It can distinguish between voices and different sounds. It can respond to questions either by a brief node, a shake
of the head or a verbal answer.

• ASIMO can individually recognize ten different faces.

• It can recognize the objects and surface of its environment

Q#8: What do the industrial robots do?

Ans: Industrial robots can pick up or grip various objects. They perform various tasks such as spot welding, painting,
machine loading, parts transfer and assembly. Robots are used in electronic assembly where they mountmicrochips
on circuit boards.

Q#9. What do you know about i-cybie? Write in detail.

Ans: i-Cybie is a robot dog. It is an entertainment robot. It can perform following different tasks:

Come here, roll over, step backwards, body shake, speak, lie down, dance, shake hand, sit, wave, greet.

He can even do a head stand! i-Cybie can detect obstacles, monitor his own power level, recognize your voice, get up
if he falls over and communicate with other i-Cybies.

i-Cybie’s eyes even change colors depending on his interest and activity level.

i-Cybie robotic dog also recognizes edges, allowing him to stop before walking off the edge of a table or falling down
some stairs. He even senses light and the touch of your hand) Walls and other obstacles are also detected)

Q#10: What do you understand by artificial intelligence in robots?

Ans: A robot must be intelligent. The intelligence is provided by programmers in the form of instruction. The
instructions as a whole make a program. The program tells a robot what to do, when to do, and how to do
something. This type of intelligence is called artificial intelligence (AI). All robots have artificial intelligence.
Computers can already solve problems in limited realms. The basic idea of AI problem-solving is very simple, though
its execution is complicated) First, the AI robot or computer collects facts about a situation through sensors or
human input, the computer compares this information to stored data and decides what the information signifies.
