ILLUSTRATIONS TO POTRAY DOOM IN JUDAH.
1) The Lord was to bring destruction from the North the city of Judah will be ruined to illustrate this
Jeremiah had to put on sack cloth and to weep because of the fierce anger from the Lord.
2) Judah will be surrounded by enemies.
3) People will be killed by lions from forests for failing to do what was right.
4) The Lord was ready to destroy the people and their temple because of their wickedness the Lord’s
anger will be like a fire that no one can put out.
5) The valley of Hinnom will turn into the valley of slaughter. They will bury people there because there
will be nowhere else to bury them.
6) The Lord will put an end to the sounds of joy like wedding feasts.
7) The Lord will let Nebuchadnezzar capture all the Israelites.
8) The Lord will expose them to everlasting shame and disgrace that will never be forgotten.
MESSAGES OF CONSOLATION TO THE PEOPLE.
1) Yaweh promised them a new king from the line of king David and under the new king people were to
live in peace.
2) God was aware that they were suffering and was planning to heal them and also make them free men(
Jeremiah 30:12-17).
3) Jeremiah stressed a new relationship between God and his people. He put an end to the corporate guilt
like people suffering because of the sins of their ancestors in this case each individual will be
responsible for his own sins.
4) The exiles were to e restored back to their own land. Thereafter they would happy to praise their
Lord.
5) The prophet advised the people to surrender to the Babylonians by respecting their orders. The
Babylonians were used by God as agents of destruction to discipline God’s people.
6) The people also warned them about the dangers of false prophets because they were likely to persuade
them to turn against the Babylonians.
7) According to Jeremiah, the people of Israel and Judah were to worship God again at the holy
mountain at Zion. They will be delighted with God’s gifts in form of corn, wine, olive oil, sheep,
cattle. They will like a well watered garden. They will have everything they need(Jeremiah 31:12).
8) Jeremiah also stressed a new relationship between God and his people through the new covenant.

9) Jeremiah 32: 1, Jeremiah had to buy a field. This field was symbolic in nature as it focused on future
restoration and prosperity.
10) God promised to forgive all their sins and will forget all their wrongs.
THE REVELANCE OF THE BOOK TO CHRISTIANS TODAY.
1. Christians should be aware that they are responsible for their own sins. They should repent.
2. Christians should believe in only one God like complete monotheism.
3. Christians should only offer items which are recommended by God. God condemned human
sacrifices.
4. Christians should distinguish between false prophets and the true prophets of God like prophet
HananiahSS was misleading God’s people.
5. Religious leaders should always act as role model to Christians. Jeremiah openly challenged the
religious leaders in the temple Sermon.
6. Christians should always offer genuine sacrifices.
7. Christians should respect God like should avoid telling lies under oath, they should always tell the
truth.
8. Christians should always endure during difficult situations.
9. Christians should respect the Lord’s temple.
10. Christians should always seek for the Lord’s protection like should avoid trusting in foreign alliances.
