SOLUTIONS
1. Solution: D
This is a simple multiplication.
333 times 135 = 333 × 135 = 44955
2. Solution: B
According to the question, J occurs only if E or F occurs. Now F occurs only if B occurs
and E occurs only if C occurs.

3. Solution: A
We are given a 5 digit number
Let first digit be 'X'
then 5th digit is '3X'
let 2nd digit be 'Y'
then 3rd digit is 'Y - 3'
and 4th digit is 'Y + 4'
then the no is '(X)(Y)(Y - 3)(Y + 4)(3X)'
from the above we can say 3X <= 9
so X<=3 and any of the digit in the number is <= 9
Also Y–3 ≥ 0 and Y+4 ≤ 9
⇒ Y ≥ 3 and Y ≤ 5 i.e. Y = 3,4 or 5
for x = 1, all the conditions won’t be satisfied.
For x = 2,
Let Y = 5
∴ The number is 25296
4. Solution: C
We have cost of 100 toys = Rs.300
Cost of 1 toy = Rs.300 / 100⇒ Rs.3
Cost of 280 toys = Rs.3 × 280 ⇒ Rs.840

5. Solution: C
As 12th January, 1979 = 1900 years + 78 years + period from 1st Jan. to 12 Jan. 1979
So No. of odd days in 1600 years = 0
No. of odd days in 300 years (1900 – 1600) = (5 × 3) ÷ 7 = 2 weeks + 1 odd day
No. of odd days in 78 years = 19 leap year + 59 ordinary years
= {(19 × 2) + (59 × 1)} ÷ 7= (38 + 59) ÷ 7 = 97 ÷ 7 =13 weeks + 6 odd days
No. of odd days in period from 1st Jan. to 12 Jan. 1979 = 12 days = 12 ÷ 7 = 1 week + 5 odd
days
Total odd days = 1 + 6 + 5 = 12 days = 12 ÷ 7 = 1 week + 5 odd days
So 12th January, 1979 is Friday as Sunday is 0; Monday is 1 and so on.
Note: 1) A leap year is a year which is divisible by 4.
2) No. of odd days in a leap year is 2 and in an ordinary year is 1
3) No. of odd days in each 100 years is 5 and each multiple of 400 is 0.
6. Solution: 1
The first sentence is D as the remaining sentences begin with ‘while’, ‘but’ and ‘so’, which
cannot be the beginning sentence of a paragraph, but only supporting segments. The use of
‘traditionally’ in the first sentence lets us know that the next sentence will deal with the
non-traditional. Sentence B tells us about the removal of control of premia, which has
resulted in a change which was not traditionally present. This is therefore the second
sentence. Sentence C tells us about the effect on the cost of capital due to the factors
mentioned in sentence B. So it is the third sentence. Sentence A concludes the paragraph
by telling us that lower capital cost is true for private and not public companies. Therefore,
the correct order is DBCA.

7. Solution: B
Clearly, in 5th (last) round two teams participated out of which 1 team wins the game as
given after every round half the teams were eliminated.
Then for 4th round 2 ´ 2 = 4 teams had qualified.
3rd round = 4´ 2 =8 teams had qualified
2nd round = 8 ´ 2 = 16 teams had qualified
Hence in 1st round = 16 ´ 2 = 32 teams have participated.
So 32 teams participated in the race.
8. Solution: 3
This is a simple alternating addition and subtraction series.
The pattern followed is:
6+3=9
9–2=7
7 + 3 = 10
10 – 2 = 8
8 + 3 = 11
11 – 2 = 9
Clearly next term is 9

9. Solution: A
All parts seem to be continuation of something except (c), which clearly is the first part.
Now, the next part should be related to the ending verb of the first part and thus is (a),
which is also the only grammatically correct option. Clearly, (d) is not an ending and hence
the order is c-a-d-b.
10. Solution: B
Let’s denote Monday by Mo, Tuesday by Tu, Wednesday by We, and Thursday by Th
Given
Mo + Tu + We = 3 × 37 ------ (Eq.1)
Tu + We + Th = 3 × 34 ----(Eq.2)
Eq.1 – Eq.2
⇒ Mo - Th = 3 × (37 - 34) = 9 ................. (Eq.3)
Given
Th = (4/5) × Mo
⇒ Mo = (5/4) × Th
Put it in Equation (3)
⇒ ((5/4) - 1) × Th = 9
⇒Th = 36°C
