CONSTRUCTION METHODOLOGY FOR CEMENT TREATED SUB-BASE

The scope of work consists of construction of CT Sub Base of 150 mm thickness single layer

MATERIALS:

Cement, Coarse Aggregate & Fine Aggregate:

Topcem OPC -43 grade Cement, Crushed aggregate & crushed dust from Dyna river source

EQUIPMENT:

100 TPH Capacity OF CTSB PLANT with 4 bins containing 40, 20, 10 & dust. Percentages in
gate opening have been set as per design mix and plant calibration data.

Adjustable water spraying system given to maintain Optimum Moisture Content in mix.

Arrangement for mixing of cement has provided by 50 MT silo, feeding hopper & frequency
controlling motor.

Frequency controller motor controls the required quantity in weight of cement added as
per design mix.

Sieve Analysis and Moisture content should be checked before dispatching the material to
site.
TRANSPOTATION:

The CTSB mix is transported through dumpers by covering tarpaulin cloth to avoid
evaporation losses.

Placing:

i. GSB top layer are being properly rolled & levelled.

ii. The mix should be laid by the bituminous paver with a required thickness of 150 mm.
iii. The compaction shall be done with the tandem roller compactor of 8KN-10KN.
Compaction of CTSB will be tested immediately after rolling completed.
iv. The finished surface should maintain slope & level without loose pockets & segregation.
v. After achieving the compaction (Minimum of 98%) levels should be checked.
vi. FDD test shall be done immediately after completion of rolling.
vii. Cubes shall be casted with help of hand operated demolition hammer for the
determination of unconfined compressive strength value for7 days.

Curing:

Curing shall be made with water for the entire laid stretch by covering hessian clothes upon
the laid CTSB Surface to keep the area in continuous moist condition for minimum of 7 days.

Construction Joints:

At the end of each day’s work, a construction joint shall be made transverse to the centre
line of the road by cutting back into the work to provide a full depth vertical joint.
