About IIPHG
IIPHG was set up as a joint initiative of the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) and the
Government of Gujarat in 2008. IIPHG has the distinction of being “India’s First Public Health
University” established under IIPHG Act-2015 of Gujarat State. A leading institution in public
health education, training, research, and advocacy in India, it has collaborations with national
and international organisations of global repute. IIPHG engaged with various central and
state government partners, multilateral organizations like the World Health Organization
(WHO), and international academic partners from Germany, Sweden, Australia, and the
United State of America. In addition, IIPHG has techno-business incubation centre,
student’s innovations centre at its lush green 50 acres campus on the banks of river
Sabarmati in Gandhinagar.

Faculty
The faculty members, holding advanced qualifications from esteemed national and international universities in
disciplines such as hospital and healthcare management, social science, administration, finance, and medicine, they
are not only educators but active contributors to academic research, training, and public health practice. Engaging
in externally funded research projects, they share their insights through publications, policy briefs, conference
presentations, and consultations. Leveraging their extensive academic expertise, the faculty continually enhances
the curriculum, educational resources, and classroom discussions. Additionally, IIPHG provides students
with the opportunity to interact with national and international specialists who contribute as visiting and
adjunct faculty members.

Master of Public Health (MPH) Program at IIPHG


In addressing the shortage of skilled public health professionals in India and beyond, IIPHG has been
providing a comprehensive two-year, full-time Master of Public Health (MPH) program since 2015.
This program aims to equip participants with a profound understanding of public health
management and its intricate dimensions. Rooted in the fundamental principle of delivering
top-tier education, the curriculum is crafted to empower students to seamlessly translate their
classroom knowledge into practical, real-world public health applications.

Placement
The IIPHG MPH degree opens doors to diverse public health careers, with alumni securing
positions in WHO, UNICEF, government departments, NGOs like Care and Jhpiego,
foundations such as Tata Trust and HCL, academic institutions like ICMR and PGI,
hospitals, and more. Some graduates pursue higher studies, while others become
entrepreneurs, starting their organizations. The placement cell ensures students find
suitable opportunities after program completion.

Eligibility
The program is open to candidates with a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university
in India or abroad, with at least 50% marks. Public health is a multidisciplinary area and applicants from diverse
academic backgrounds such as medical and paramedical sciences, biological sciences, veterinary sciences,
management, social work, engineering, law, commerce, accounting, communication, etc. are eligible to
apply. Relevant work experience in the health and development sector will be an added advantage.

Admission Process
Selection of candidates is based on the past academic performance, screening test score, professional working
experience, and personal interview.

Tuition Fee for MPH Program

Rs. 2,75,000 per annum* US $ 10,000 per annum* US $ 13,200 per annum*

*The tuition fee does not include the cost of candidate’s accommodation, food, and other on-campus or off-
campus student welfare activities.

Hostel Fees
Limited hostel facility in the form of 140 single-occupancy, non-AC hostel rooms with attached toilet and balcony
is available at the cost of Rs. 33,000 per semester. There are separate hostel blocks for girls and boys. A cafeteria
serving nutritious food is available. The approximate cost of food will be Rs. 6000 per month.
Scholarships
The scholarships were awarded to 25% of the students. There are limited number of scholarships available which will be
offered to deserving candidates after a rigorous selection process.

How to Apply
Interested candidates should fill out the application form online at www.iiphg.edu.in and pay the application fees of Rs. 1000
for Indian nationals (including Nepal and Bhutan) and USD 20 for International and SAARC candidates.
