I. Specific At the end of the lesson, students are expected to:


Objectives: K - Define cooperation and responsibility;

S - Present a short role-play highlighting the importance of


working cooperatively and responsibly based on the story,
“The Parable of the Rainbow Colors” by Juan M. Flavier;

A - Recognize the importance of working cooperatively and


responsibly in today's interconnected world.

II. Subject Matter: The Parable of the Rainbow Color by Juan M.Flavier
III. Procedure:

B. Motivation/Recall Color Hunt


 Awareness
The whole class will play a game, called “Scavenger Hunt.”
The students will be grouped into three and will be assigned
each a primary color. (red, yellow, blue)

Instruction: In the span of one minute, cooperate with your


group mates by listing out different objects with the same
color as their assigned color. The group with the most
objects wins. Do this in and quiet and orderly manner.

1. How did the winner manage to get more objects than


the other groups?

C. Lesson Proper/ With the same group as the last activity. Each will be

will listen to an audio recording of the story. The students
will be given different tasks to do afterwards.

Before reading, the teacher will present some vocabulary


words to the class.

1. Denigrate - criticize unfairly; disparage.


"there is a tendency to denigrate the poor"
2. Restrain - prevent (someone or something) from doing
something; keep under control or within limits.
"he had to be restrained from walking out of the meeting"

3. Haughty - arrogantly superior and disdainful.

4. Gaiety - the state or quality of
being lighthearted or cheerful.
"the sudden gaiety of children's laughter"
5. Outlandish -
looking or sounding bizarre or unfamiliar.
"outlandish, brightly colored clothes"

It all started as innocent statements by each of the colors,


No attempt was made by anyone to denigrate the others.
There was even an element of restrain and humility.

But as time went on the colors declaration became stronger


and haughty, they even use an overtone voice to put down
the other colors. It reached the point when the colors where
actually quarreling.

Said the color Red, I am the brightest for red is the most
striking. Why? Life sustaining blood is color red. I represent
Courage and Bravery. Even love symbols such as heart and
roses are color red.
The color Yellow retorted, what can be brighter than my
Yellow exemplified by the sun? I am the color of gaiety and
warmth. Without me only the eye-glaring ones remain.

What outlandish claims! Interposed by the color orange.


Sunrise is orange, not yellow. I am the most important
because I represent health and strength. Look at the ripened
fruits and vegetables, they are predominantly orange.

Well if you’re talking about vegetables and lives you are


referring to my color, declared the color Green. I am the
symbol of life. All the thrives in the fields and forest is
greenery I provide.

The color Blue could not help it anymore, so it shouted, what


can be more expansive than the sky’s and seas? Do you
forget the farthest sky and the deepest sea are Blue? I
represent patriotism.

The color Indigo came out with the statement, Your talking
about wide areas. I hope you realize that the largest area in
the world is silence. I represent the dimension with my color.
It means thought Fullness.

Aha! You forget the pomp of royalty and power is violet. I am


wisdom and authority. What can be more overwhelming.

Suddenly, the rain interrupted the continuous exchanges of


arguments of the colors. Stop! You are all wrong and all
right. Yes, you all have your features, but all of you have a
special role. And more importantly, you need to give each
other to give the mix color of beauty. From now on, you will
not be seen separately. When it rains, a strip of colors will
appear in the sky. You will appear together. You will be
called a rainbow. You will then represent cooperation and
hope. With that, the rain disappeared.

Group activity instructions: The groups are given specific


tasks to accomplish. They are given five minutes to
complete the tasks and two minutes for their presentation.

Group 1: A Rainbow’s Message!


The group will discuss and think about the story of the
rainbow colors. They will talk about the important lessons or
messages it teaches us. Consider how the colors arguing
and the rain's intervention show us the importance of
working together. They are going to present their output
through a choral reading.

Group 2: We Sing for the rainbow!


The group will write a short song verse. It should mention
the importance of working cooperatively and responsibly
with others. The group will present the finished verse in front
either as a group or with a representative.

Group 3: A Rainbow Poem for You!


The group will write a four-line poem together inspired by the
story of the rainbow colors. Each member in the group
should contribute lines to create a poem about working
together, unity, and the beauty of differences. When
finished, the students can read the poem aloud to the class.

V. ABSTRACTION 1. What is cooperation?
 Cooperation is working together towards a common
goal through effective communication, collaboration,
and shared responsibilities. It involves trust, respect,
and a willingness to compromise for the benefit of the
group. It maximizes productivity, problem-solving, and
overall success through unity and leveraging each
other's strengths.

2. What do you mean by the term, “responsibly?”


 "Responsibly" is an adverb that refers to the manner
in which someone carries out an action or fulfills a
duty while being aware of the potential consequences
and taking appropriate steps to mitigate any negative
impacts.

3. What is a global village?


 The concept of a global village is about how the world
has become more connected and interdependent due
to advances in technology and communication. It's
like thinking of the entire world as one big village
where people from different parts of the world are like
neighbors.
4. From the Parable of the Rainbow Colors, how did the
colors cooperate responsibly to achieve a common goal?

5. During typhoon Odette, how did you show your


cooperation and responsibility to your family and to your
community?

6. What is the importance of working cooperatively and


responsibly in the global village?

VI. APPLICATION With the same group, the students act as if they are the
colors of the rainbow. Then they will present a short role
play about cooperating with others responsibly based on the
story “The Parable of the Rainbow Color.” Each will group
will be given different scenarios to act.

Group 1 – The group will act based on the Filipino concept


the “Bayanihan”. The Rainbow family wants to move their
physical home into another location, what would other colors
do to help the Rainbow family?

Group 2 – The rainbow colors will act as if rescuers and


bystanders. There two victims of an accident and there are
only two rescuers. Each two rescuers can only help one
person at a time, what will the bystanders do?

Group 3 – The group will act as rainbow villagers. One


rainbow color is trying to clean up the village but can’t quite
do so with the vast number of trashes. There are at least ten
kilos of trash around and one rainbow color can only carry
one kilo. What should other rainbow colors do?

VII. ASSESSMENT Direction: On a ¼ sheet of paper, write TRUE if the


sentence presented is true, and FALSE if wrong. Answer
directly.

instances that they saw or participated in any situation that
