1) Definition
Smallpox in medical language called variola, whereas in English is called small pox.
Diseases caused by viruses poks (pox virus) has been around since centuries ago and is
highly contagious. Symptoms that occur in infected are fever and bubbles appear
simultaneously with pus in the skin area of the face, arms, legs, and finally the whole body.
The disease is often fatal, especially if the infant or elderly. For those who can heal, will
leave marks on the skin in the form of pockmarks.
Fortunately, this disease is no longer the world. In the 19th century, around the world
working to eradicate the disease by immunization. In Indonesia, measles immunization has
been carried out since 1856 by the Government of India, the Netherlands. After a long
process and full of hard work, finally the disease is not found in Indonesia since 1974 and
further WHO Indonesia set free from smallpox. Thanks to the cooperation of all the world,
the end of 1980 has been declared the world free of smallpox.
Smallpox disease or so-called 'Herpes' by the medical community is a skin inflammatory
disease characterized by the formation of bubbles of water in groups. Smallpox or herpes
there are 2 kinds of people, and Herpes Zoster Herpes Genetalis.
Genetalis herpes is an infection or inflammation (bubble blister) on the skin especially genital
(vagina, penis, including the entrance to the anus / rectum and the buttocks and groin / groin)
due to herpes simplex virus (HSV), while Herpes Zoster or by any other name 'shingles' is a
skin infection caused by the varicella-zoster virus, which causes bubbles in the liquid almost
the entire body.
2) Types of Infectious Diseases Smallpox
a) Chicken Pox
Chicken pox, although his name is similar to smallpox, a disease that is different.
Chickenpox, in medical language called varicella, and in English is called chicken pox. The
disease is caused by a virus called varicella-zoster virus.
Similar to smallpox, symptoms equally is no fever. However, there are differences in the
bubble that appears small and not concurrently, starting from the patient's body and then
generates the other limb. In general, smallpox is much lighter and not as dangerous as
smallpox. Vaccination disease actually been around for quite a long time, but until now has
not been done in Indonesia. Smallpox vaccination until today has not become part of the
mandatory basic immunization program, given its cost is still expensive and not everyone can
afford them. Indonesian Pediatric Association (IDAI) current smallpox immunization
schedule for children aged 10 years and over, if you have not had chicken pox. However, if
required, and it is capable of, the vaccine can be given after the age of 1 year, and repeated 10
years later to protect it as an adult.
b) Chicken Snake
Although the name snake smallpox, the disease is not caused by a snake. Snakes Smallpox is
the public name for the disease Herpes Zoster. This disease is a reactivation of the chicken
pox (varicella) who had suffered one before. Keep in mind, if the person is exposed to
varicella-zoster virus infection for the first time, then there will be smallpox. Once cured, the
virus is not completely eliminated from the body of the patient, but to dwell in the patient's
body, specifically in the peripheral nerve ganglion sufferers. The virus resides in the patient's
body can come back at any time and cause a disease called Herpes Zoster.
c) Monkey Pox
Terms of monkey pox is relatively not as popular as other pox terms mentioned above. This
disease is the scientific name of bullous impetigo, or there is a name-bullous impetigo
vesikulo. In contrast to other types of smallpox caused by a viral infection, monkey pox is
caused by the bacterium Staphylococcus aureus.Secara clinical patient does not have a fever
or general symptoms such as chicken pox or herpes zoster. Symptoms result is the emergence
of bubbles, especially in the arms, chest, and back. This emerging bubble quickly bursts and
there are not so many, but are often accompanied by miliaria (prickly heat).
This disease is not as heavy as other diseases, because it is limited to the skin layer only. But
of course it does not mean it should be treated. Moreover, because the cause is bacterial, the
antibiotics needed to destroy it rubbed on the affected areas. Some say, the disease is called
monkey pox, which looks for abnormalities in the skin is for the public a little more similar to
smallpox. While the origins associated with monkeys, supposedly because the skin itch once
and often causes the sufferer to scratch her constantly (like a monkey.)
1.2. destination
The reason I took this topic are as follows:
1) In order to know what it is malignant smallpox.
2) In order to know what kind of smallpox.
3) In order to determine what factors that cause smallpox.
4) In order to know how the treatment of smallpox.

LITERATURE REVIEW
2.1. Agent factors (causes)
In general, all types of herpes can be transmitted through direct contact. However, in herpes
zoster, as was the case with smallpox (chickenpox), the process can spread through sneezing,
coughing, contaminated clothing and touch on the bubble / blisters. As the disease Genital
Herpes (genital), transmission occurs through sexual behavior. Herpes is a disease that
sometimes affects Genetalis hooked in the mouth caused by oral sex. Symptoms occur within
7-21 days after a person is in contact (infected) varicella-zoster virus. Someone who has had
chicken pox and then recover, the virus is actually not 100% lost from the body, but hiding in
the dorsal root ganglion cells sensory nervous system of the patient. When the immune
system (immune) weakened, the virus will make a comeback in the form of herpes zoster
which caused symptoms similar to smallpox (chickenpox). For someone who has never had
chicken pox, when attacked by varicella-zoster virus is not directly experienced herpes zoster
but had chicken pox first.
2.2. Host factors
Modes of Transmission of Disease Chickenpox (Herpes) In general, all types of herpes can
be transmitted through direct contact. However, in herpes zoster, as was the case with
smallpox (chickenpox), the process can spread through sneezing, coughing, contaminated
clothing and touch on the bubble / blisters. As the disease Genital Herpes (genital),

2.3. Environment factors
Poorly maintained environment will be easier to hit for pendunduknya disease, especially
infectious diseases. So all we have to fear is not upon us and the others, then it would be good
if we equally care for our environment, because there is nothing to clean it, except with our
efforts to prevent a disease that can be transmitted to all residents. Let us all take care of life
and the environment is always kept clean and protected from things that are not desired.
Dispose of waste in place, so as not to cause a disease that can be life threatening and life and
many more positive things that can be done to prevent the spread of communicable diseases
in our society.

discussion
3.1 Definition of Smallpox
3.2 Morphology and Life Cycle
The virus is transmitted through saliva splashes patients or with objects contaminated by fluid
from blisters. Patients can transmit the disease from the onset of symptoms until the last
blister has dried. Therefore, to prevent infection, the patient should be isolated (separated).
If a person has had chickenpox, he or she will have immunity and will not get chickenpox
again. But the virus can remain dormant in the human body, and sometimes become active
again and cause shingles.
3.3 Signs and Symptoms of Chickenpox (Herpes)
Signs and symptoms caused by herpes viruses in general are fever, chills, shortness of breath,
pain or stiffness dipersendian in one section collapsed, appearance of reddish spots on the
skin, eventually forming a bubble liquid. Another complaint is that sometimes people felt
sick. The process of transmission can be through sneezing, coughing, contaminated clothing
and touch on the bubble / blisters. Well, try as much as possible to avoid things
tersebut.penularan smallpox virus A / airway .. means air can not touch .. especially
infectious transmission occurs before the affected person was not symptomatic until more or
less exactly happened when bintil2nya scabs .. meletus2 new a / the most contagious .. but
not everyone will be affected if the smallpox virus. it all depends on three factors:
1) endurance
2) The amount of virus that entered
3) Length of contact with patients
4) Disease Prevention Smallpox
3.4 Management and Treatment of Disease Chickenpox (Herpes)
In patients with smallpox the most important thing is to keep the bubbles in the liquid does
not break so as not to leave a mark and become the entrance for other bacteria (secondary
infection), among others, by giving talcum powder that helps smooth the skin. When patients
do not survive the cold conditions recommended not to bathe, because it can cause shock.
Drugs given to people with smallpox is intended to reduce the complaints of symptoms such
as pain and fever, such as paracetamol given. Giving Acyclovir tablets (Desciclovir,
famciclovir, valacyclovir, and penciclovir) as antiviral aims to reduce fever, pain,
complications and an inability to protect the immune system against the herpes virus.
Acyclovir medication should the onset of pain or heat on the skin, no need to wait for the
emergence of a bubble of fluid (blisters).
Treatment of smallpox focusing on complaints that arise, such as fever, chills, pain
dipersendian, red spots on the skin, eventually forming a bubble liquid.
Drugs that should be provided:
a. Paracetamol tablets
b. acyclovir tablets
c. talcum powder
d. Vitamin Neurobian / neuroboran
Avoid foods that you are allergic to any eating, especially cause itching from getting itchy on
the bubble smallpox. Others have no specific restrictions, but should increase consumption of
nutritious foods for improving endurance. Abortion has nothing to do with herpes
(chickenpox). Herpes is caused by a virus that enters through the skin, sneezing, coughing,
contaminated clothing and touch on the bubble / blisters that burst and sex behavior (ML, oral
sex) such as herpes Genetalis. Chickenpox in babies generally do not cause complications,
can be cured by improving the immune system (vitamin). However, fever and itching to our
attention, of course.
Your child may be given (powder) Zovirax (Acyclovir drug content). Acyclovir tablets 20 mg
per kg body weight 4x / day. Apply Zovirax ointment and powder Salicyl morning and
evening after bathing. Post a fever (paracetamol syrup) according to the dosage instructions
on the medicine cabinet. Your child can be bathed with water mixed with a PK
(Permanganate) or dettol to clean the germs that stick and the children will feel refreshed. As
someone who has been exposed to chicken pox, will be considered immune and do not need
the vaccine. This disease can be attacked by both children and adults.
Here are tips to make the treatment of patients with chickenpox:
1) Change of clothes people every day.
2) anti-itch powder sprinkled on the body part exposed to chicken pox to reduce itching and
rashes that quickly become dry.
3) Separating patients with healthy people to chicken pox is not contagious to others.
4) Bathing with warm water mixed with anti-itch medication every day.
5) Cut the nails to avoid scratching the rash on the skin that do not arise from new infections.
6) Creating favorable conditions for people to be able to rest comfortably and accelerate the
healing process.
3.5 Eradication
Preventive measures
Request chickenpox vaccine variola, especially family members and medical professionals
treating and laboratory personnel, nurses and doctors, especially going wabah.menjauhi
everyone whose skin appears ruam.meskipun probably not chicken pox but all other skin rash
illness in the family smallpox and cmpak not trivial and minor illnesses.

4.2. suggestion
If we find this disease in our daily lives, we must live lives of the early symptoms of
smallpox. Early diagnosis saves lives. Similarly, the medical personnel in order to provide
information to the public about the dangers of malignant smallpox.
