Brian Davis— Homeroom Advisor

Dear Parents,

I hope this message finds you well.

Enclosed is the report summarizing your child's academic progress for the first semester of the 2023-2024 academic
year as part of the Cambridge Lower Secondary Programme.

In our curriculum, students engage in various subjects, each contributing to their overall academic development. Please
refer to the grade descriptors provided in the report to understand your child's performance better. For example, a grade
of 5 indicates a commendable level of achievement, while low effort grades suggest potential areas for improvement
despite the student's abilities. Conversely, a grade of 3, coupled with high effort grades, may indicate dedicated effort
despite facing challenges in meeting course requirements. Teachers may offer additional comments to provide further
insight.

Should you have any inquiries or concerns regarding the grades presented, we encourage you to email the respective
subject teacher. Furthermore, we invite you to schedule individual meetings during the upcoming parent-teacher
conferences, which will take place over the next few weeks. Please the homeroom teacher for any matters regarding your
child's well-being. Should you have more serious concerns, please contact me directly.

With kind regards,

Brian Brackrog

Director of International Programmes

I really love having Sasha in my Global Perspectives and English class. Sasha is a very good student who puts forth
maximum effort on all of his tasks. He is always engaged and active in our class discussions and offers insightful ideas
and perspectives on the subject matter. Sasha is a very kind student and often looks out for the well-being of others in
the class. I greatly look forward to having Sasha in my lessons during the second semester

This semester, students have learnt to describe their houses' interior with the furniture and rooms vocabulary as well as
the prepositions of places. They also learnt how to describe their daily routine with the introduction of reflexive verbs
and the time. Students then learnt the different shops and facilities of the city. They can now say what those places are
used for and what people do there. Some irregular verbs were added to their list of verbs. The final task was to make a
video presenting their neighbourhood by using their previous knowledge and prepositions of place.

Alexandr is a fun and engaged students who participates well. However, he is not very consistent and not always
focus. He needs to work more seriously and always come prepared to class. His pronunciation is slowly improving.

Keep making efforts Alexandr!

Alexandr is eager to learn Lithuanian. This semester we expanded our vocabulary (hobbies, time, numbers, household
items, etc.), we learned the present tense, singular. Student is able to apply these mentioned grammatical aspects and
vocabulary. I also want to add that I saw progress in Alexandr's conversational skills.

This year students have studied the topics of population and migration and development. Students have engaged with
population pyramids and the DTM. Through these means, students can ascertain whether countries are a developed or
developing country. In their development topic, students can describe the different employment sectors and how
different countries have made progress using resources at their disposal. Alexandr is a knowledgeable geographer. He
is always eager to answer questions in class and participate in group activities. Alexandr is able to describe the
demography of a country using population pyramids. In addition, he can explain the development of countries using
graphs and charts. Alexandr can explain the reasons why certain countries have developed and also the effects this
has on certain countries. It is important that Alexandr remains focused during lessons as he can distract the learning of
others.

This year students have studied protests and revolutions and the industrial revolution. Student’s have been exposes to
political poster and carried out source work from cartoons and photographs in order to gain evidence to support essay
style questions. Alexandr is a hardworking student that is both confident to answer questions in class and also to
contribute to class discussions. Alexandr is able to explain the causes of a series of revolutions and evaluate which
cause he considers to be the most significant. Alexandr has also shown his ability to evaluate sources and use these to
answer questions posed to him. This year, Alexandr has shown that he can understand the meaning of political
posters. Through the industrial Revolution topic, Alexandr has been exposed to graphs and charts which he is able to
use to answer essay style questions. Moving forward, it is important that he remains focused in lessons as he can
become distracted but can also be the distraction to others.

Science A, A- U E U U A
Jurgita Makuškaitė

We commenced this academic year with Biology Unit 1 – Respiration and the Respiratory System. The second topic in
Chemistry was 'The Properties of Materials.' During this unit, we conducted several practical activities to enhance
students' understanding of the properties of chemical substances, solubility, and chromatography. Subsequently, we
moved into the Physics unit - Forces and Energy. Students revisited concepts related to different types of forces,
explored speed and the analysis of distance-time graphs, and gained insights into the fundamental principles of
pressure in solids, liquids, and gases. In our current biology Unit 4, we are studying ecosystems. Students are learning
the main concepts of ecology - population, community, species, ecosystem, habitat, and niche.

Sasha has shown steady progress in grasping and applying scientific concepts effectively. He demonstrates
consistency in class and takes pride in his work. Sasha always asks questions to understand and satisfy his curiosity,
which in turn helps their classmates understand better. He has good communication and critical thinking skills and
tries to complete the work to the best of his ability. However, Sasha often struggles to concentrate and keep attention.
He tends to rush to complete his tasks, often leading to small mistakes. Sasha's grades in science are consistently
among the highest in the class and are a true reflection of his effort and the level he is working in the subject.

Sasha is advised to spend more time revising and memorizing subject-specific vocabulary. Practising different revision
techniques at home, such as flashcards and revision quizzes, would be beneficial to consolidate the information
learned in class.

Maths A, A- C C C E A

Alexandr puts lots of efforts in class, actively participating in group discussions, and working independently and
diligently on practice papers. In the Unit Test 1, he scored 32/40 as a mark of A, in Unit Test 2, the score is 36/40 with a
grade of A+ and 9/10 and 9/10 in both Projects with a grade of A+. Referring his academic achievements and my
observations, he mostly demonstrated the satisfactory performance and activeness during the semester. He has a
good foundation in Math, nevertheless, there is always room for enhancement.

Alexandr's previous participation in classwork and homework enables me to remark on a point: certain questions in
Cambridge require more focus and attention to detail; thus, all instructions must be carefully read through to the end,
carefully analyzed, and then thoroughly completed with a detailed solution. I believe that improvements in this are
Alexandr's continuous efforts will lay a strong foundation for future development.

This semester in art classes, we worked on graphics, abstract art, and free compositions. We examined, discussed,
and explained various art domains. I am pleased with Alexandr's efforts in art classes to understand the theme and
express it in his creative works. However, during classes, he found it challenging to maintain a consistent focus, and
sometimes socializing with friends disrupted the smooth progress of his work. Alexandr is creative, active, cheerful,
artistic, curious, and appropriately uses art concepts. He interestingly and smoothly talks about art pieces and excels
in selecting information. I wish him to focus more during art classes and strive for completeness in his works.

Alexandr participates very well in class however he should raise his hand, wait to answer questions and give a chance
to his classmates to participate as much as he does. He is full of energy and mostly works seriously however for his
test on Internet he was too approximate. He needs to pay extra attention to what he writes and be more thorough.
Keep up the good work!

Music U U U U Įskaita | Pass

Jonė Janiukštienė

This semester, we have been exploring musical writing. We learnt to recognise notes in treble and bass clefs. We
started with the piano keyboard, looking for notes in the keyboard. We deepened our knowledge of music theory: what
is tone and semitone? What is a sharp and a flat? where musical notation came from?

Alexandr is a good student. He learns well. Participates actively in lessons. He has mastered the material well enough.

HOW THE STUDENT AND THE WORK ARE ASSESSED

Cambridge Lower Secondary assessment uses internationally benchmarked tests. There are two assessment options.

1. Cambridge Lower Secondary Progression Tests

Cambridge Lower Secondary Progression Tests provide valid internal assessment of knowledge, skills and understanding
in English, mathematics and science. The tests:

1. enable learning to be assessed each year

2. provide detailed information about the performance of each learner for stages 7, 8 and 9
3. enable teachers to give structured feedback to learners and parents
4. enable teachers to compare the strengths and weaknesses of individuals and groups
5. are marked by teachers at the school
6. come with clear guidance, standards and mark schemes

2. Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint

Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint is a diagnostic testing service that helps learners by giving comprehensive
feedback on their strengths and weaknesses in each subject area.

Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests are offered twice a year and they are usually taken at the end of
Cambridge Lower Secondary.

The tests are marked in Cambridge and each learner receives a statement of achievement and a diagnostic report. The
Cambridge Global Perspectives assessment is marked by teachers and moderated in Cambridge.
