I am born and raised in Indonesia by awesome parents that always support me whatever I want to do,
unless it is negative. In life, there is a moment that something that did not according to plan that could
be happen. At that time, they always cheer me up and give some advice so I did not feel down when that
happened. For example when I was in high school, there was a time when I got a bad exam score.A
typical parents will scold their child but that is not the case. Instead of got angry, they will help me to
solve incorrect question and give an emotional support so I will not be sad.
When I was in senior high school, instead of social I took science as my major. At that time, I have been
thinking of becoming a researcher one day. My parents were not too keen about this decision, I know in
their little heart they hope me to choose social major so I could learn about business therefore
continuing their business and expanding them. Because I was still young at that time, I did not think long
enough to weigh my decision.
There was a time that make me realized that I should continue my parent’s business. One day my dad
asked me if I wanted to come to his office. Because at that day I did not have plan to do, I say yes. When I
arrived at the office, I was shock that it is so tricky to maintain a business. You must deal with customer
with different types of background in the first place. Some customer was nice customer, in other hand
there were some customers that were not so nice. Not only that, the amount of work that you have to
do in a day is insane. Until now, I am amazed by my dad because he could control everything in his
business. From that day, I have a goal to be like my dad and even better than him.
To study about business furthermore, I choose TIU because of it align perfectly with my goal and the
Digital Business major that I intended to choose will be beneficial for me in the future. Right now, we live
in an era that everything started to shift to digital. For instance, At the past if we wanted to buy food, we
must directly come to the restaurant. But, right now if we wanted to buy food, we simply just use our
phone to order it and it will come to our house. From this example we could see that digital business will
impact our life and make our life simpler. Besides that, the other reason why I choose TIU over other
university is TIU’s diversity. Because TIU is an international university after all, I could meet with people
over the world so it could help me develop my communication skill that will be so beneficial for me in
the future when I am in the working industry.
Thus because of many benefit that I will get from studying at TIU it will help me to achieve my future
goal. My future goal is to continue my dad’s business so it will be much better than more. Right now my
dad’s business has not been digitalize at all. I hope that by joining digital business major, I could digitalize
my dad business, therefore it will be modernized so it will not be outdated and could keep up with future
competition.
