4.3 Modification to Requirements

Some requirements in this specification may be modified by specific requirements in the purchase specification. In case of conflict,
the specific requirements supersede this specification.

Any deviation from this specification must be approved in writing. Such written approval must be obtained prior to the
commencement of any work which would constitute such a deviation.

Measurement units are in US Customary Units.

5 SELECTION OF 'BOUGHT-OUT' ITEMS AND THE USE OF SUB-SUPPLIERS

1) Details of, and the proposed SUPPLIER(s) of all items which are not part of SUPPLIER's own manufacture, and any intent to
use Sub-SUPPLIERs to partly or wholly manufacture any part of the equipment or its ancillaries shall be disclosed to the
PURCHASER in the SUPPLIER's bid.
2) This requirement also applies to standard fasteners and bulk items such as pipe and pipe fittings.
3) Alternatively, the Purchaser may, at any time prior to award, nominate sub SUPPLIERs from whom certain items shall be
obtained. The SUPPLIER shall advise prior to issue of purchase order the consequences of any such nominations. The
SUPPLIER as minimum shall advise manufacturer of seal, motor and coupling. Refer to Material Requisition for list of preferred
suppliers.
4) After the placement of the order, the SUPPLIER shall not substitute any of the agreed Sub-SUPPLIERs without the
Purchaser's prior approval.
5) Where the Purchaser nominates Sub-SUPPLIERs to the equipment SUPPLIER for bought out items, Purchaser reserves the
right to hold direct technical discussions with the said Sub-SUPPLIERs to ensure that the whole equipment as supplied by the
SUPPLIER meets all the requirements of the Material Requisition.
6) The PURCHASER shall provide SUPPLIER with minutes of such discussions for review and acceptance.
7) The provisions of the clauses above shall not relieve the SUPPLIER of his contractual responsibilities for engineering and
quality control.

6 SUPPLIER'S EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

1) All pumps and ancillaries shall be selected from the manufacturer's established product range. Prototypes shall not be offered
by the SUPPLIER. Pumps shall be purchased only from SUPPLIERs who can demonstrate successful operation of at least two
similar units in type, power rating, speed, discharge pressure, mechanical design, materials, rotor dynamics and sealing
arrangement for a minimum of three years in comparable service in a similar climatic region which must be performing
satisfactorily. Equipment with single digit serial numbers will not be accepted without detailed review and acceptance by
COMPANY.

7 PRECEDENCE

1) In the event of conflict, actual or implied, among documents relating to an enquiry or order, the order of precedence stated in
the Material Requisition shall govern. If conflict persists, the SUPPLIER shall seek clarification from PURCHASER before
proceeding. Generally the most stringent requirement shall be applied.

5.2 Dimensions

(Add) Piping and pipe fittings shall be in accordance with ASME B16.5.

Section 6 - Design Requirements

6.1.1.1 (Add) Unless otherwise approved by PURCHASER, seals shall be selected in accordance with Category 2.

6.1.1.6 (Add) A mechanical seal must be capable of withstanding the maximum delivery pressure when the pump is
stopped. The Manufacturer’s special attention is brought to the sleeve/shaft connections of multi-stage pumps.

6.1.1.8 (Add) All mechanical seal part shall withstand transient operating conditions: start up on water, wash, automatic
start, re-acceleration, etc.

6.1.1.12 (New) When the product handled is toxic, corrosive or dangerous, the MANUFACTURER shall take all
appropriate steps to prevent any product leakage to the exterior. Likewise, if a barrier fluid is used, the
MANUFACTURER shall avoid pollution of the product pumped by this fluid, and shall not employ an approach
resulting in a prohibitive consumption of this fluid.

6.1.1.13 (New) Vertical pumps shall have deflectors, preventing penetration of foreign matter into the seals.

6.1.1.14 (New) The life time of wear parts shall be at least three years of continuous operation.

6.1.1.15 (New) PURCHASER will always prefer the most reliable approach, making operation and maintenance as easy
as possible.

6.1.1.16 (New) Preference shall be given to balanced seals. However, for general services in which the pressure at the
seal box does not exceed 5 bar absolute, non balanced mechanical seals may be chosen.

6.1.1.17 (New) In case of high temperatures (more than 150°C (300°F)) particular care shall be taken of cooling of which
the Supplier shall give a detailed description.

6.1.1.18 (New) Should a leakage to the exterior be unacceptable, preference shall be given to a solution using dual seals,
either pressurized or un-pressurized.

6.1.1.19 (New) Metal bellows may be used provided:

The fluid conveyed presents no risk of corrosion or erosion to the bellow (maximal allowable wear: 10 µm/year
(0.4mil/year))

Metal bellows are the primary selections in the following cases:

Risk of fouling of the dynamic seal (hang up)

Vacuum less than 0.8 bar abs (12 psia).

6.1.1.20 (New) Preference shall be given to driving and securing pins parallel to the shaft driven by single spring shall be
submitted to the PURCHASER for approval.

6.1.1.21 (New) Manufacturer must ensure seal is capable of successful operation for process conditions including rated
condition as well as minimum, maximum, and cold startup.

6.1.2.8 (Add) Separate external seal gland plate is mandatory for all pumps.

itself.

The seal chamber shall be cooled in the case of pumped liquids having vapour pressures over 5 bars absolute
(75 psia).

6.1.2.27 (New) The pressure in the seal chamber shall at all times be maintained above atmospheric pressure for the

For low density fluids (SG < 0.7), a flush distribution ring shall be required.

6.1.3.4 (Add) When the product tends to deposit, O-rings on sleeves shall not be used.

6.1.3.13 (Add) Unless otherwise specified in the data sheet, the split ring is prohibited.

6.1.5.1 (Add. to NOTE 2) Except for perfectly clear and non-corrosive fluids, preference shall be given to mechanical
seals in which the springs are located outside the product being pumped.

6.1.6 MATERIALS

6.1.6.2.3 (Add) Pure (SIC) silicon carbon shall be used if PH > 9 on fluids containing hydrofluoric acid.

Preference shall be given to tungsten carbide versus silicon carbide for heavy crude services.

6.1.6.2.4 (Add) If a hard friction pairing is made up of two identical materials, the friction faces shall have a different degree
of surface treatment to avoid adherence on start up.

6.1.6.9.1 (Add) Throttle bushings shall be made of a non-ferrous material compatible with the atmosphere and with the
pumped fluid.

Section 7 – Specific Configurations

7.1.2.5 (Add) When a periodic quench is required, the SUPPLIER’s supply shall include the automatic cyclic-distribution
system.

Section 8 - Accessories

8.2.1 (Add) For critical equipment, transmitters and gauges shall be provided. Transmitters shall be connected to

Note 2: Vertical type pumps with plan 13 shall be given plugged tap for option of upgrading to plan 14 at a later date.
Note 3: For special cases (e.g. BFW plants), a more economical choice is a plan 54 flush plan system with centralised seal water pumps, tanks and filters. Where
appropriate, this shall be proposed.
Note 4: Any service not covered requires approval by PURCHASER.
