ADDING WHOLE NUMBERS WITHOUT REGROUPING


Good afternoon class, today I will be showing you a set of pictures and you are about to name each
picture.
What is this?
How many apples do we have?
How many are the green apples? How about the red one?

What is this?
Do you have mango tree in your house?
Like apples is it sweet or not?
How many mangoes are there in the picture?

✓ Very good! You got the correct answer.


▪ Now let’s add all of the numbers of apples and mangoes so that we can eat them after the
class.
A while ago we have 13 apples and 10 mangoes. What will be the total numbers of fruits?
Today we are going to talk about adding numbers without regrouping using these fruits.
Let’s make addition simpler, when you were in Kinder to 2 you are adding the items using your
fingers, sticks or pictures. Let’s try to use the number itself in adding the numbers of fruits we
have.
We discuss last time that the numbers being added in the given is called addends while the
total numbers after we add the numbers is the sum.
✓ In adding first, write the addends in the proper column then add the ones place followed
by tens and so on.
(The teacher writing the numbers on the board)
So, the total numbers of fruits are 23. Very good class!
➢ Let’s try another number but I will put up to thousands.

Again, class what are the things we need to do in adding the numbers?
