TITLE:

POST-PANDEMIC VERTICAL CITY

Introduction:

In the wake of the global COVID-19 pandemic, the design and construction of buildings have entered
a new era, one that places a heightened emphasis on health, safety, resilience, and sustainability. Post-
pandemic buildings represent a paradigm shift in architectural thinking, where the built environment is
reimagined to address the challenges and opportunities presented by infectious diseases and their societal
impacts.

Moreover, post-pandemic buildings serve as catalysts for social and cultural transformation,
redefining how people live, work, and interact in urban environments. They provide adaptable spaces for
remote work, collaboration, and recreation, as well as opportunities for community engagement and social
connection. As we navigate the complexities of a rapidly changing world, post-pandemic buildings stand as
beacons of hope, resilience, and creativity, shaping a brighter future for generations to come.

Deign Problem:

For the Post-Pandemic Vertical City, 4th Year Architecture Students are tasked to design a high-rise
building that serves as a vertical city, integrating diverse functions and amenities to create a vibrant, self-
sustaining urban ecosystem. The building should embody principles of mixed-use development, urban
density, and vertical connectivity, while promoting social interaction, economic vitality, and environmental
sustainability. As a microcosm of urban life, the vertical city should accommodate residential, commercial,
cultural, recreational, and civic functions within a cohesive and well-integrated framework.

Students may select any theoretical site for their Post-Pandemic Vertical City and propose a design
solution for the fully functional building.

Pandemic Building. The property would need to include all the following spaces:
