1) Introduction
Biodata:
Her full name is Nur Heliza Binti Helmi known as Heliza Helmi born on February 3, 1986 in
Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia. She is the eldest of two sisters to Helmi Bin Haji Hasbi who is a
policeman from Kuala Kangsar, Perak. While her mother, Latifah Binti Muhammad comes from
Terengganu.
Educational background:
She received her early education at Yayasan Islamic Kindergarten School Kuala Terengganu,
Terengganu and went to primary school at Sultan Sulaiman 1 Primary School,
KualanTerengganu, Terengganu. Then, she attended secondary school at Treacher Methodist
Girls School, Taiping Perak before going to SM Convent St. Ursula Tawau Sabah. Next,
continued studies at Labuan Matriculation College and continued studies in Bachelor of
Education (Science, Biology, and Chemistry) at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).
Her marriage:
Nur Heliza Binti Helmi started her marriage on 1 January 2022 with her partner Dato’ Sri
Mahadi Badrul Zaman or better known as Dato’ Sri Mahadi BZ Founder and President of AUF
BMZ.
Nur Heliza binti Helmi is a preacher, singer, model, TV host, speaker, motivational expert,
humanitarian activist, actress, celebrity and became known in 2007 during her participation in
the reality show Akademi Fantasia Season 5. Quiet character but eloquent when speaking. So, it
is not surprising that she was selected to participate in state and national level speech
competitions even though she only held the role of a reserve participant.
Having a talent in singing and reciting rhymes is one of his strengths. Her easy-going nature
makes her have many good friends. She made friendship a medium to share knowledge. In fact,
she made experience a useful source of knowledge to share with his acquaintances.
2) Approaches in Da’wah (What, how and why she is doing it )
Although she was initially known as a singer, the owner of the name Nur Heliza Helmi is
actually more motivated to fight and defend the fate of Muslims around the world than her
artistic career. If we look at her social media page, it turns out that it is filled with Islamic
sharing and also aid missions to the people of Syria, Palestine and so on. Her spirit of jihad
should be used as an inspiration among Muslims regardless of age or gender, especially the
youth who will lead the world in the future.
Religious activities/Humanitarian Activities.
Nur Heliza binti Helmi is known for her nature that fights for the Islamic religion and the
universal ummah, inviting people to do good/infak/donation through her Instagram social
medium. As a humanitarian activist at home and abroad, she has set foot in Palestine, Syria,
Yemen (Humanitarian Mission, Emergency Mission, Disaster Mission, Rescue Syria, Wake Up
For Gaza) for the purpose of preaching and extending help through functioning NGOs.

Heliza is one of the artists who are active in the humanitarian field of the Muslim community.
She is also often active with her younger sister, Hazwani Helmi. Her spirit to fight for this
ummah issue grew stronger after she went and saw for herself the situation in Gaza, Palestine in
2012. Although at first her family did not allow her to go due to security reasons, she eventually
got permission, and she was able to share this issue with the community. The lyrics of the song
“La Tahzan” were inspired by her experience of setting foot there for the first time.
For Heliza, involvement as a volunteer began when she was still studying at university and began
to be active seriously after participating in a humanitarian mission to Cambodia in 2010. She
stated that her involvement as a humanitarian activist and volunteer happened because of
ALLAH’s permission and she is grateful for being prompted and opened space for himself to
help those in need. In addition, she was moved to participate in this volunteer work when he
heard the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad SAW that the best people are those who benefit
others.
3) The methodology used in da’wah engagement.
The methodology that Heliza Helmi applies in her preaching engagement is in terms of
traditional and IT. She is more involved in da’wah face-to-face as well as sharing her experience
in his da’wah involvement virtually. However, both methods give a lot of positive feedback to
both herself and the people around her. Because she is often involved in any association, her
experience is more extensive and open to be shared with all parties. She is also active in virtual
da’wah because today’s sophisticated technology can spread da’wah information more quickly
and widely.
4) Does her work impactful?
Her career in various fields of da’wah has a very positive effect on herself including others. This
is so because, the good attitude she exhibited inspires others, especially young people today, to
continue trying to find experience and gain knowledge to make themself a person who is always
motivated and never gives up. Always trying to improve ourself is the best way to sincerely feel
closer to Allah s.w.t.
5) Conclusion
In conclusion, Heliza Helmi is an influencer who needs to be used as an example for young
people today so that their values of faith and piety are not fragile due to the negative influence of
outside culture. The teaching of Islam itself educates us to be active in various fields of da’wah
and strive to provide benefits to the community to continue the da’wah legacy and remember the
da’wah services of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w throughout his struggle.
