ENGLISH SPECIAL PROGRAMME

Narrator: A warm morning to one and all present here. We as a

team from Grade 8 SR are here to present a skit based on 9
important life skills which are and will help humans in many
possible ways. Now, let's go on with the 1st life skill-critical
thinking.

Narrator - Critical thinking is the process of analyzing a topic or a

problem deeply based on appropriate information.

Narrator- The second one is creative thinking. It is intentionally

gaining new insights and different ideas through existing
information.

Narrator: Now, let's go on with the 3rd life skill-effective

communication.

(At office)

Project Manager(Lancia) - Ok guys, let's end the meeting here. Vasanth,

tomorrow you will have to do the presentation in front of our MD and other
Project Managers.

Vasanth - Ok sir. I will do it.

(At Office in the evening)

Rithvik - Hey Vasanth! Have you prepared for the presentation?

Vasanth - Not yet Rithvik. I am feeling nervous about tomorrow's presentation

in front of our MD.

Rithvik - Don't worry dude. I will help you out. So, here you will have to use
your effective communication skills. For that, you will have to build your
self-confidence level first. Secondly, you will have to use all your hand gestures
and speak with eye contact. Make sure that you do not bore others. Lastly,
don't get distracted by irrelevant topics.

Vasanth - Sure dude, I will follow all your tips and I will give my best
tomorrow. Thank you.

Narrator - Hope you guys will also find this helpful and use the
same. Effective communication is the process of exchanging ideas,
thoughts, opinions, knowledge, and data so that the message is
received and understood with clarity and purpose.

Narrator: The next Life skill is Interpersonal relationships.

It is a social connection or affiliation between two or more.

Narrator: Now let's move on to the 5th life skill Managing

Emotions. Here, Samyugthaa an employee faces some problems in
her office and shows her anger towards her mom. Later, she feels
that what she had done was wrong. So, we will see how the life
skill-Managing Emotions helped Samyugthaa in this case.

(At home)

Mom: Come in Samyugthaa. Did you have your lunch?

Samyugthaa: What bothers you if I eat or not? Look on to your work.

Mom: Is it my fault that I care for you?

Narrator: She keeps thinking about what has happened and doesn't
sleep well.

(Next Day)

Samyugthaa: I think I should not have spoken that rude to mom. She cares
for me. She would have felt really sad. It's all because of the stress I had. First,
I should go and apologise to mom for the mistake I had made.

Samyugthaa: Sorry mom. It's all because of stress I had.

Mom: It's ok dear. But, try to manage your emotions. Otherwise, you will face
a lot of failures in life.

Samyugthaa: Sure mom. I will manage my emotions and lead my life to the
fullest. The best ways to control stress are meditation, workouts and book
reading.I will go on with any of these and lead my life to the fullest.

Narrator: In this way, Samyugthaa tries to control her emotions

and socializes with everyone. Managing emotional reactions means
choosing how and when to express the emotions we feel.

The next one is coping with stress.

Poornesh: I'm worried about something.

Samyugthaa: What's that?

Poornesh: Well, I have to drive to school for a meeting this evening, I'm going
to end up getting stuck in rush-hour traffic.

Samyugthaa: That's annoying, but nothing to worry about. Just breathe deeply
when you feel yourself getting upset.

Poornesh: Ok, I'll try that.

Samyugthaa: Is there anything else bothering you?

Poornesh: Just one more thing, a school called me this morning to see if I
could teach a few classes this weekend and I don't know what to do.

Samyugthaa: Do you have any other plants this weekend?

Poornesh: I’m supposed to work on a paper that's due on Monday.

Samyugthaa: Try not to take many works.Try to handle a few works that are
important.

Poornesh: You're right. I probably should just work on my paper. Thanks.

Narrator: This is what coping with stress is all about. But what

coping with stress exactly means is the methods a person uses to
deal with stressful situations. Now let’s go on with empathy.

Narrator: The seventh one is Empathy.

Narrator: Empathy is the ability to recognize emotions in

others, and to understand other people's perspectives on a
situation.

Narrator: Vidhursaa who has completed her 9th grade feels

confusing in choosing her stream in grade 10. So, now let's see how
she is using the 8th life skill-Decision making.

(At home)

Vidhursaa: I have scored good marks in all my exams for grade 9. But now, I
feel it difficult and confusing in choosing my stream.
Mom: Congrats dear. I am happy with your marks. You can choose an
engineering group for your future career.

Vidhursaa: But mom, my interest is in journalism. So, I think history will be

the best.

Father: All of us and our relatives are expecting you to become an engineer.
For sure, I want you to choose science and math as your main subject.

Vidhursaa: Dad, please give me some time to ponder.

Father: Ok, make it quick.

(At night)

Narrator: She searched on the internet for choosing her stream

and career, then she was confident about her aim as her hobby was
to collect newspaper articles and pieces of evidence from her
childhood. She wanted to become a journalist and she believed that
the job she liked can attract her interest.

(The next day morning)

Vidhursaa: Dad I am confident in my decision and I wish to become a

Journalist. I am sure that I will make you and Mom proud. The work which is
liked by me can interest me more. Please dad let me choose Journalism.

Father: Mm…(Thinking) You have used your Decision making skill in this
situation in the right way. I accept it. As you wish you can study journalism,
but you have to do your best to succeed in that.

Narrator: You should be strong with your decisions so this would

have shown you how.It is nothing but the ability to select between
two or more alternatives to reach the best outcome in the shortest
time.

Narrator: The last one is Problem Solving and here the PT teacher
solves the problem between the students.

(At the playground)

Girls: Let’s play basketball today for a change.

Boys: No! We will play football.

Girls: We always have to do what the boys want because they are many in
number. Ma’am should think of another way to solve this so that our wishes
are also heard.

PT Teacher: What happened students?

Girls: Ma’am boys are always playing football and we have to also play with
them, as they are many. Today can we play basketball like we want ?

PT Teacher: Boys is that so? Then today all can play basketball as Girls wish.

PT Teacher: Now students on alternative weeks you can play as Boys and Girls
wish.

Narrator: Like this, the PT Teacher solves the problem by asking all
their opinions. Problem-solving is the process of identifying a
problem, developing possible solution paths, and taking the
appropriate course of action. Thank you all for listening patiently,
hope you found it helpful and apply it in your life.
