CLASS - 5
MULTI-DISCIPLINARY ART INTEGRATED SUMMER PROJECT 2024-25

FOREWARD
Art-Integration is a cross curricular pedagogical approach that utilizes various aspects and forms of
art and culture as the basis for experiencing the learning of concepts across subjects.
At the same time, educational experiences are more authentic and of greater value to students when
the curricula reflect real life, which is multi-faceted rather than being compartmentalized into neat subject-
matter packages. Thus, multi-disciplinary projects which are knit around one main theme helps child to
explore the topic in a multi-faceted manner giving the student an overall growth by expanding the
knowledge boundary.
With this learning objective, summer vacation project has been designed for the students in 2024-25.

Instructions for students -

1. The summer project has been divided into 4 sections covering the subjects – English, 2nd Language,
EVS Social Science and Maths. Please follow the guidelines enlisted below for each subject.
2. At the same time use your imagination, read, explore and think ‘out of the box’ to make your project
unique and meaningful. You may use sketches, photographs, cartoons etc. to make the project
attractive.
3. Students may use coloured A4 size cartridge sheets. Use different colours for each subject.
4. Students are expected to complete the work set under different sections separately.
5. After the completion of the entire project, students will submit the work done under various subjects to
their respective subject teachers in the opening week after the summer vacation.

Theme of the Summer Project – We had joy, we had fun! We had seasons in the sun.
The notion that our lives are like the eternal cycle of the seasons does not deny the struggle or the joy, the
loss or the gain, the darkness or the light, but encourages us to embrace it all and to find opportunities for
growth. The biggest lesson that the seasons teach us is that, change is the only constant in life. Nature’s
eternal rhythm, expressed through the seasons, holds a symbolic mirror to the journey of human existence.
Each season carries its own unique symbolism, reflecting various stages of life that all beings inevitably
traverse.
Summer vacation is that time of the year which is awaited eagerly by everyone, especially by students. We
all have different plans for our vacations and want to make the most out of them. Some of us like to rest
during vacations while some join hobby classes while others who love to explore new places, go for family
trips.

A. ENGLISH
John Keats in his poem ‘The Human Seasons,’ represented the seasons as different stages of
human life. Instead of describing the physical states of the seasons like the blazing heat or the frosty
cold, he presented the seasons as changes in thoughts and emotions throughout human life. Let us
now embark on a beautiful journey towards personifying different seasons under the sun - Spring,

Summer, Autumn, Monsoon and Winter - and witness how our lives echo their gradual transitions,
reminding us of the inherent beauty in every stage and the wisdom in embracing change.

Make a small booklet in the following manner:

a) Take 4 coloured A4 sheet papers.

b) Choose any 4 of the seasons mentioned above. Visualize each season as a human being and
draw/sketch it as a human character. You may also paste a picture, relating a season to either a
fictional character or even a family member.
c) Write 5 lines below each drawing, describing the emotions and expressions you have portrayed
through the character and why it relates to a particular season.
d) Draw a border on each page and decorate your booklet attractively. The more innovative, the
better!
e) Your booklet must have a cover page with the student’s details such as name, class/sec, roll no.
and date.
f) Lastly, punch holes on all the pages and tie them up with a ribbon to resemble a booklet.
