Contextualized Lesson Plan in Science 6

I. Objectives:
A. Construct the food nutrient cycle
B. Explain the importance of decomposers in making food nutrients
available to plants

II. Subject Matter:

Topic: Food Nutrient Cycle
Materials: Enlarged Diagram of a food nutrient cycle
References: RBEC-PELC Scince and Health VI Unit II, 1.1.3, 1.1.4, p.8
DCLM IX. C.3

III. Learning Procedure:

A. Motivation/Presenttation
Show pictures of plants found in the locality. Ask: Why are plants
important? What raw materials do plants need in making or manufacturing food?

B. Activity Proper:
1. Distribute enlarged illustrations of food nutrient cycle to the class.

2. Group Work: (Cooperative Learning)

Let each group stay together. Let each member trace
the movement of nutrients in the food nutrient cycle. They
are given 5 minutes to do the activity. When they hear the
hand bell of the teacher, they stop and each leader
constructs his/her food nutrient cycle on the board and
explains. The teacher leads them to conceptualize the
importance of decomposers in making food available to
plants.

C. Post Activity:
1. Presentation and reporting of outputs
2. Analysis and Discussion (enrichment of reports/discussion of
findings/clearing out differences- development of critical thinking
activity.
What raw materials do plants need in making food?
3. Abstraction and Generalization:
What is food nutrient cycle?
Why are decomposers needed in making food?
4. Application:
Call on 2 groups. Let them construct a food nutrient cycle.
Each member of the group will answer the activity card
distributed to them.
5. Value Infusion:
Without food-nutrient cycle, what happens to an ecosystem?
Give its importance.

IV. Evaluation
Draw a food nutrient cycle.
Below the drawing, write a short explanation about it.

V. Assignment:
Why are you considered a part of the food nutrient cycle? Explain in 5 to 6
sentences.
