1. GENERAL
1.1 OPERATIONAL ENVIRONMENT
1.1.1 Operational Environment
The container is to be designed and manufactured for the carriage of refrigerated
(frozen, chilled) foodstuffs and general cargo by land (on road or rail) and by sea
(above or bellow deck) throughout the world and will range from -30C (-22F Deg)
to +80C (176F Deg) without effect on the strength of basic structure. A mechanical
refrigeration unit of a “one piece picture frame type” will be fitted to the front end
frame. The container is designed with a refrigeration unit to maintain the inside
space temperature at -18°C in ambient temperature up to 38°C.

1.3 HANDLING
1.3.1 Lifting full or empty at top corner fittings by means of spreaders fitted with hooks,
shackles or twistlocks.
1.3.2 Lifting full or empty at bottom corner fittings using slings with terminal fittings at sling
angles of 30 deg. to the horizontal plane.
1.4 TRANSPORTATION
The container will be constructed to be suitable for transportation in normal
operating conditions and in the following modes:
1.4.1 Marine--------In the cell guide: 9 high stacked (based on 27,000kg),
On the deck: 4 high stacked and secured by vertical and diagonal
lashings.
1.4.2 Road---------On flat bed or skeleton chassis, secured by twistlocks or equivalent
ones at the bottom corner fittings.
1.4.3 Rail-----------On the flat cars of special container cars secured by twistlock or
equivalent ones at the bottom corner fittings.

4. CONSTRUCTION
4.1 General construction
The container will be constructed of steel parts, which are rear and front frame,
insulated side with corrugated outer panel and inner lining, insulated base with
aluminum “T” section floor rail and corrugation subfloor, insulated roof is
constructed of outer panels and inner lining with corrugations, insulated door with
outer panel and corrugated inner lining, and ISO corner fittings. Refrigeration unit
will be installed to the front end frame.
4.2 Base structure & flooring
The base structure is composed of corrugation type steel base frame and “T”
section floor rail with insulation of polyurethane.
4.2.1 Bottom side rail
4.0mm thick upper rail with 4.0x30x60x6300 angle reinforcement and 4.5mm thick
lower rail.
4.2.2 Floor rail
63.5mm high of extruded aluminum “T” shape section butt welded together by
automatic TIG welding. Rear end reinforced by aluminum extrusion protector.
4.2.3 Floor lashing bar
Aluminum lashing bar (Ф25) is welded on the floor rail. (QTY: 6/side)
4.2.4 Subfloor
1.0mm corrugated sheets continuously welded to bottom rails and reinforced by 6
pieces of 4.0mm omega shaped load transfer members.
4.2.5 Bolster
Welded construction with 4.5mm top plate and 4.5mm “U” section lower.
4.2.6 Gooseneck tunnel
One piece of 4.0mm thick pressed hat section plate.
4.2.7 Drain Pipe
4 normal type drain pipes are provided on front and rear end.
4.2.8 Outrigger
2 sets of 4.0 mm thick “C”-shape beam are set inside of foam and welded to bottom
rail and gooseneck.
4.2.9 Floor filler
10 pieces filler are fixed between floor rail and outriggers, bolster or load transfer
members and rear end subfloor.

4.3 Front end frame


Front end frame is composed of steel frame members, which is constructed so that
refrigerating unit and generator device can be fitted.
4.3.1 Front corner post
Welded construction with 6.0mm thick outer and 3.0mm thick inner member to form
a close type construction.
4.3.2 Front sill
4.0mm thick outer plate, 4.0mm thick lower member.
The lower flange of the sill near to corner fittings is provided with cone type cut-outs
for damage protection.
4.3.3 Front header

4.0mm thick pressed plate with 4.0mm thick protection plate.


4.3.4 Generator Mounting device
It is provided on front header and corner posts for clip on type generator sets.
QTY.: 2 sets.

4.4 Rear end frame


Rear frame is composed of steel frame members, which is constructed so that a set
of door can be fitted.
4.4.1 Rear corner post
Welded construction with 6.0mm thick outer and 10.0mm thick channel type inner
with 6.0mm thick reinforcement.
4.4.2 Door header
Welded construction with 4.0mm thick upper member, 3.5mm thick inner member
and 4.0mm thick protection plate.
4 pieces of 4.0mm thick steel plate will be applied at the behind of each cam
keeper location.
4.4.3 Door sill
Welded construction with 6.0mm thick outer and 4.0mm thick inner member.
4 pieces of 4.0mm thick steel plate will be applied at the behind of each cam
keeper location.
The lower flange of the sill near to corner fitting is provided the channel shaped cut-
outs for damage protection.

4.5 Door
Rear door is composed of steel panel and corrugated stainless steel inner lining
with polyurethane insulation reinforced by beams.
A door holder of nylon rope is provided on each door and a rope hook is fitted on
each bottom rail to retain the door from closing.
A door keeper is installed which is designed to prevent left hand door from opening
before right hand door according to T.I.R. requirements.
4.5.1 Door panel
1.6mm thick stainless steel sheet, outer surface painted.
4.5.2 Lining
0.7mm thick die-stamped corrugated panel.
4.5.3 Hinge Lug
6.0mm thick stainless steel plate.
4.5.4 Hinge
10 pieces hot dip galvanized steel hinges.
Each door is suspended by 5 hinges with sintered bronze bushes and stainless
steel washers placed at the hinge lug of the rear corner post.
4.5.5 Hinge Pin
12.7mm diameter bar, JIS SUS304.
Each hinge pin will be riveted to the hinge pin stopper.
4.5.6 Locking rod ass’y
with secure cam & keeper.
Treatment: hot dip galvanized.
4.5.7 Rubber gasket
Outer: E.P.D.M. “C” section double LIP.

4.6 Side

4.6.1 Top side rail


4.0mm thick, cold rolled steel profile with chamfered angle.
4.6.2 Panel
1.0mm thick both ends and 0.8mm thick main corrugated panels butt-welded
together to form one panel by automatic TIG welding.
4.6.3 Lining
0.7mm thick corrugated panels butt-welded together to form one panel by
automatic TIG welding.
4.6.4 Side post & stringer
1 pieces/side of 4.5mm thick and 4 pieces/side of 3.0mm and 4 pieces/side of
1.6mm thick hat-shaped CORTEN posts welded to top / bottom rails and spot-
welded or adhered to side pane.
8 pieces/side of 0.7mm thick hat-shaped steel stringers spot-welded to side lining.
4.6.5 Scuff liner
2.7mm thick, 400mm height, extruded aluminum profile infixed with side lining and
welded to the T-floor.
4.7 Roof
4.7.1 Roof panel
0.8mm thick panels with die-stamped corrugations butt-welded together to form one
panel by automatic TIG welding.
4.7.2 Roof lining
0.8mm thick aluminum sheet pre-painted clear or white with small corrugations be
jointed by pressing and reinforced by AL roof stringers.
4.7.3 Roof bow & stringer
5 pieces of 0.7mm thick hat-shaped steel bows spot-welded to roof panel.
9 pieces of hat-shaped extruded aluminum profile stringers clipped with roof lining.
4.8 Edge covers
All inner edges are covered by aluminum, PVC sections; all will be sealed, riveted
or glued to the inner lining.
Aluminum extrusion profile is fixed to the corner between side lining and roof lining.
4.9 Corner fitting
JIS SCW 49 or equivalent quality designed in accordance with ISO/1161.
4.10 Unit mounting
The unit mounting will be designed in accordance with the reefer machinery
manufacturer’s mounting requirement.

5. PRESERVATION
5.1 Surface preparation
5.1.1 Prior to assembly
A) All steel components, prior to foaming, will be shot blasted to Swedish standard
Sa 2.5 to remove rust, mill scale etc.
B) All stainless steel components, prior to painting, are to be cleaned to remove all
oil and dirt etc.
C) Locking rod ass’y which are welded with gear cams, bars, holders and handle
hinges are hot dip galvanized (thickness: min.70 microns).
5.1.2 Insulation Foam Contact Surfaces
A) Main foaming area and bare aluminum plate
Adhesive primer or foam bond or hot melt adhesive will be applied to the
insulation foam contacting surfaces for good adhesion with insulation foam.
B) Residual foaming area of Corten parts
Polyamide epoxy primer or zinc rich primer will be applied to the insulation foam
contact surface.
5.1.3 After Assembly
A) All stainless steel parts will be cleaned to remove all oil rust, dirt and etc before
sweep blasted with non-carbon steel media or non-metallic media.
B) Surface treatment for painting will be done, blasting on welding seam and all
welding slag, spatters and other foreign matters will be removed.
5.2 Exposed surface (except understructure and door panel)

6. MARKINGS
6.1 Lettering
The containers will be marked in accordance with ISO requirements, owner’s
marking specifications and other required regulations.
6.2 Materials
The material of all decals is PVC film with permanent adhesive and having a
minimum 7- years life.
6.3 Consolidated plate
The certification plates of timber treatment, CSC and TIR approval are of stainless
steel and will be engraved in permanent manner and riveted with stainless steel
rivets.

7. TESTING & INSPECTION


7.1 Production line of container
Every container is manufactured under effective quality control procedures to meet
the specified standards.
After completion all container dimensions will be checked and door operation
checked.

8. GUARANTEE
8.1 Paint guarantee
Five (5) years and be based on standard “RE 3” of the “European degree of rusting
standards”. Normal wear/tear, or corrosion caused by fish oil, animal and vegetable
oils, strong solvents, impact and accident is excluded.
The warranty shall be applied faults or failures affecting more than 10% of the
painted surface.
8.2 Decal guarantee
Seven (7) years
8.3 Other guarantee
All containers are guaranteed by the manufacturer against any defects or
omissions in construction, poor workmanship, defective materials should be for a
period of one (1) year after being accepted.
Any damages caused by mis-handling, mis-securing, mis-loading, impact and any
accidents relating from bad practices are excluded.
