4 Pit Auxiliary Emergency Stop Switch Box

4.1 Introduction to the Pit Auxiliary Emergency Stop Switch Box

Pit auxiliary emergency stop switch box is a device used to immediately emergency stop the elevator in the
case of emergencies to prevent injury or further damage. There is an emergency stop switch located on the outside.
Its appearance is as shown in the following figure:

4.2 Installing the Pit Auxiliary Emergency Stop Switch Box

4.2.1 Installation Position of the Pit Auxiliary Emergency Stop Switch Box

The pit auxiliary emergency stop switch box is installed to the right of the pit door, at a distance of no more
than 1.0 m from the entrance, as shown in the following figure.

4.2.2 Installation Method for Concrete Shaft

If the elevator shaft is made of concrete, the installation method is as follows:

1) Select a suitable installation position on the shaft wall and mark the drill hole positions on the shaft wall
according to the installation dimension (50 mm) of the pit auxiliary emergency stop box, as shown in Figure 11.

Figure 11: Dimension for Positioning the Drilling Hole

2) Drill Ф3.5 holes (with depth 50 mm) at the marked positions using an electric impact drill, as shown in
Figure 12.
Note: When drilling holes, be sure to promptly remove the dust generated with an inflator to prevent dust from
remaining in the hole or falling into the auxiliary emergency stop switch box.

Figure 12: Drilling Hole

3) Use a hammer to tap two plastic dowels (D8 × 48) into the shaft wall, as shown in Figure 13.

Figure 13: Installing the Plastic Dowel

4) Open the cover of the auxiliary emergency stop switch box and lean the bottom box against the shaft
wall. In the specified order of A B , pass the ST4.2 × 32 self-tapping screws along with four large washers through
the mounting holes of the auxiliary emergency stop switch box, and secure the self-tapping screws with a screwdriver,
as shown in Figure 14.

4.2.3 Installation Method for Aluminum Alloy Shaft

If the elevator shaft is made of aluminum alloy, the installation method is as follows:
1) Open the cover of the auxiliary emergency stop switch box. In the specified order of A B , pass the M8
× 14 connecting bolts through the mounting holes of the auxiliary emergency stop switch box. From the rear of
the bottom box, screw on the M8 square nut, as shown in Figure 16.

2) Select a suitable installation position on the shaft frame and insert the square nut into the aluminum alloy
frame. Then secure the connecting bolts to prevent them from sliding freely within the aluminum alloy frame.
Finally, refix the cover of the auxiliary emergency stop switch box onto the bottom box, as shown in the following

5 Pit Maintenance Switch (Box)

5.1 Introduction to the Pit Maintenance Switch (Box)

Pit maintenance switch is installed to the left side of the landing door at the bottom landing and is operated
using a dedicated triangular key. It is used to switch the elevator to Pit Maintenance mode, move the car to a
specific height, and it interlocks with other safety switches and the lighting at the bottom of the shaft. In the case
of such switch used in concrete shaft, the design is a panel with an attached bottom box. In the case of such switch
used in aluminum alloy shaft, the design is a switch body (The actual appearance of the switch may vary; the
following figure is for reference only).

5.2.1 Installation Method for Concrete Shaft

a) Pit maintenance switch box is installed on the wall to the left of the landing door at the bottom landing.
For specific location information, please refer to the actual GAD construction layout drawing. Refer to the following
figure for the dimensions of the pre-drilled hole.

b) Disassemble the pit maintenance switch box into two parts (panel and bottom box), stow the panel in a
safe storage area and protect it with protective film. Remove the bottom box and place it vertically and evenly in
the pre-drilled hole in the wall (The box can be pre-fixed by means of two M4 screws that lightly hold it against the
wall).
c) Fill the gaps around the bottom box with cement. Use a plumb to check whether the bottom box is vertical,
then use a L-square to adjust the left-right position of the bottom box to ensure it is centered in the hole (M4
screws may be used to help with adjustment). Continue adjusting the box until it is central in the hole.

d) Once the cement has set, retrieve the panel from the storage area, align the male and female latches of
the panel and the bottom box, and push in the panel to secure it (The latches inside the bottom box are waist-
shaped, so it is possible to make minimal adjustments forward and backward).

a) The pit maintenance switch is installed in the aluminum alloy crossbeam to the left of the landing door at
the bottom landing. For specific location information, please refer to the actual GAD construction layout drawing.
There is a pre-drilled hole for mounting the switch in crossbeam cover plate (Depending on the actual configuration,
the cover plate may be pre-drilled with other holes for different functions; Figure 23 here is a partial diagram only).
b) Insert the switch body through the pre-drilled hole from the front of the crossbeam cover plate (Pay
attention to the installation direction), and secure it via its rear fastener (The design of the fastener may vary
depending on the actual configuration; the following figure is for reference only).
