EXPLANATORY NOTES FOR AWARD OF MARKS


Academic
1 Maximum marks allotted = 12
Qualifications
a. Bachelor’s Degree Maximum marks allotted = 02
2 marks shall be awarded on Prorata basis considering the conversion
percentage of marks given in the Equivalent percentage certificate of
CGPA (Trimester system)/ OGPA(Semester system) issued by the
competent authority as under.
1. For candidates holding degree under Trimester/Semester system, 60%
gets 0.0 mark and 100% gets 2 marks.
2. For candidates holding degree under Trimester system where
equivalent percentage certificate is not furnished CGPA of 2.00 gets
0.0 mark and 4.0 gets 2 marks.
3. In case of candidates holding degree from traditional
system/Universities 50% gets 0.0 mark and 100% gets 2 marks.
Note: Prorata marks table as above is enclosed as Annexure-1, 2&3. The
candidates are required to furnish an attested copy of the certificate of
equivalent percentage of marks in the case of award of marks other
than in 10 point scale.
b. Master’s Degree Maximum marks allotted = 03
3 marks shall be awarded on Prorata basis considering the conversion
percentage of marks given in the Equivalent percentage certificate of
CGPA (Trimester system)/OGPA (Semester system) issued by the
competent authority as under:
1. For candidates holding degree under Trimester/Semester system, 70%
gets 0.0 mark and 100% gets 3 marks.
2. For candidates holding degree under Trimester system where
equivalent percentage certificate is not furnished CGPA of 2.5 gets 0.0
mark and 4.0 gets 3 marks.
3. In case of candidates holding degree from traditional
system/Universities, 55% gets 0.0 mark and 100% gets 3 marks.

candidates are required to furnish an attested copy of the certificate of
equivalent percentage of marks in the case of award of marks other than
in 10 point scale.
c. Ph.D. Degree Maximum marks allotted = 05
1. Candidates obtaining Ph.D with Course Work of any Agricultural
University/by any other University with 4+2+3 system – 5 marks.

with course work and Ph.Ds from foreign Universities without course

experience will not be considered here, as it is included
separately under ‘Academic Qualifications”.
b. As Expert/Advisor on invitation/Government deputation,
Presentation of Research papers at the International
conferences (1 mark for each activity).

Note: In case the confidential reports of a candidate for the
assessment period are not satisfactory and if the
candidate has been inflicted with penalties on Statutory
enquiry he will get no marks for major punishments and
50% marks for minor punishments out of the marks
earmarked for confidential reports.

12. General
1. The eligibility as well as suitability of a candidate shall be considered based on the information
supplied by him in his application.
2. All the items as mentioned in the application shall be supported by the relevant and authorized
documents. Only such documents/records will be taken into consideration for award of marks.
3. Prescribed certificates should be obtained from competent authority on or before the last date of
submission of application. In case of Centre of Excellence/Infrastructure created, certificate issued
by the Vice-Chancellor in case of Universities/Directors in case of National Institutes only will be
considered. After confirmation with the HOD of concerned Department/ ADR / ADE the Director of
Instruction of the college / DR / DE has to issue certificate for teaching, research and extension
activity, respectively.
4. Any additional documents/certificates/record given after the last date for submission of filled-in
application will not be considered for award of marks.
5. If a candidate has submitted more than one application prescribed for the same post before the last
date, the latest application will be considered as valid for the purpose of recruitment.
6. Interviews will be conducted by the Selection Committee duly constituted as per the statutes of the
University and the marks for Sl. No. 1 to 10 as well as for performance in interviews will, be
awarded by the Selection Committee and the decision of the Selection Committee shall be final.

1. The eligibility as well as suitability of a candidate shall be considered based on the information supplied by him in his

application. In case of Centre of Excellence/Infrastructure created, certificate issued by the Vice-Chancellor in case

percentage certificate of CGPA (Trimester system)/OGPA
(Semester system) issued by the competent authority as under.
1. For candidates holding degree under Trimester /Semester
system, 60% gets 0.0 mark and 100% gets 2 marks.
2. For candidates holding degree under Trimester system
where equivalent percentage certificate is not furnished

EXPLANATORY NOTES FOR ASSIGNMENT OF MARKS


1. Qualification 60 marks

1.1 Academic qualification – 55 marks


SSLC: 5 marks on pro-rata basis (35% = 0)
PUC : 10 marks on pro-rata basis (35% = 0)

B.Sc.: For bachelor degree, 40 marks at a pro-rata basis under 4-point grade
starting from 2.00 getting 0 mark and 4.00 getting 40 marks. Under
Semester system, 6.00 getting 0 marks and 10.00 getting 40 marks. In
case of degree from traditional University, 35% marks gets 0 mark and
75% gets 40 marks. (For BSc. With PG Diploma the marks of both the
programmes will be taken on 50:50 basis when qualification is
essential).
1.2 Additional Qualification – 5 marks
a) Additional qualifications such as
(i) Post Graduate Diploma – 1 mark
(ii) Master’s Degree – 2 marks
(iii) Ph.D degree – 3 marks
b) Any other training programmes in the concerned subject involving
(i) more than 3 months duration –1 mark per training programme
(ii) 1 month to 3 months duration –½ mark per training programme
(iii) for less than 1 month training programme – ¼ mark per training
programme.
For both (a) and (b) together should not exceed 5 marks.

2. Experience 10 marks

2.1 Experience – 10 marks

Two marks shall be given per year of experience in Teaching, Research and
Extension in the cadre of Instructor including temporary appointments as
Programme Assistant / Research Associate / Full time Sr.Research
Fellow/Jr.Research Fellow/ Merit Associate / Technical Assistant / Assistant
Professor.

3. Publication in the field 15 marks


3.1 Published Papers: For research papers published in standard scientific
journals, for full paper : 1 mark each.
3.2 For research note/short communication published in standard journals or
periodicals like current research etc.: 0.5 mark each.
3.3 Papers presented and documented in seminar/ symposia / conferences at
national/ international level: 0.5 mark each. (maximum 5 marks).
3.4 Popular article published in leading dailies/ institutional/ Government
Departments/periodicals: 0.25 mark each. (maximum 5 marks).
3.5 Papers presented and documented in local conferences/ symposia/seminar
and also article published in souvenir: 0.25 mark each. (maximum 5 marks).
3.6 Research bulletins/extension bulletins / extension foloders / chapters in books
published by Universities/ national institutes standard commercial publishers:
0.5 mark each (maximum 5 marks)
3.7 Books published by individuals: 0.25 mark each (maximum 5 marks).
Note: Any publications having 3 authors, each author will get equal marks and such
of the publications which have more than 3 authors, fourth author onwards will
get half of the assigned mark.

4. Awards 5 marks

International 4.0 marks for each


National/ Jawaharlal Nehru Award 3.0 marks
UAS Gold Medal 1.5 marks
Private Gold Medal instituted through University 1.0 mark
(If more than one Gold Medal is awarded highest award
shall be considered) – only one award for entire degree
State Award 1.0 mark for each
Professional Society 1.0 mark for each

If a candidate earns more than one award for the same degree/ achievement, the highest
award will be considered for allotting the marks.
Note:
1. International means the awards by the organizations which are of international
repute and established by the international funding to further the research need of
the international community (Eg. ICRISAT etc.)
2. National level awards means the awards issued at the national level.
3. Professional Society means any registered scientific society.
4. Others means any other awards which is not covered above.

5. Performance & expression in the interview 10 marks


To be judged by selection committee.
GENERAL

a. The eligibility as well as suitability of a candidate shall be considered based on


the information supplied by him in his application.
b. All the items as mentioned in the application and supported by the relevant and
valid document only will be taken into consideration for award of marks.
c. Prescribed qualifications must have been obtained from Registrar/ competent
authority on or before the last date for submission of application.
d. Any additional document after submission of application will not be entertained.
e. If a candidate has given more than one application for the same post, the latest
application will be considered as valid for the purpose of recruitment.
f. Medals will be considered as University awards.
g. Any number of medals/awards received for the same achievement will be
considered as only one award attracting higher marks. For example, if a
candidate secures more than one gold medal for standing first in the class, he will
be entitled for 3 marks only as University award.

Sub: Modification to the Score Card prescribed for appointment to the post of
Dean in UAS, Dharwad.

2. Proceedings of the 123rd meeting of the Board of Regents, UAS, Dharwad,
held on 29.3.2008.
3. Orders of the Vice-Chancellor, UAS, Dharwad, dated 21.4.2008.

In partial modification of this Office Notification under reference, the stipulation in


respect of “Out-station Experience” at Sl.No.6 in the score card prescribed for the post
of Dean in UAS, Dharwad, shall be read as “Out-station Experience in the cadre of
Professor and above”. The other stipulations remain unaltered.

This shall come into effect from the date of notification in the Karnataka Gazette.
