Report on Preliminary Survey of the Proposed New Rundu WTW to Nkarapamwe Site

Pipeline Route And Kayengona Scheme Pipeline Route

Surveyed and drafted by : Surveyor Jason

Date of Survey : 17 - 18 April 2024

1. Objectives
 To know the location and distribution of the pipe line on the ground.
 To take note of any obstruction that may delay or interfere with the construction of the
pipeline.
 To make a preliminary survey of the pipe line route.

2. Materials and Instruments Used

 Hi Target GPS (Base and Rover) : To locate the position of the pipeline
 Data controller : To store Surveyed data
 Tripod : To hold the Base firm to its position
 Auto cad 3D civil : Used for drafting purposes

3. Methodology
This was the preliminary survey of the proposed clear water Main Gravity pipe from New
Rundu WTW Site to Nkarapamwe site then to Kayengona Scheme Pipeline route. All
chainages along the pipeline were located in a sequence of one after the other and all features
of interest or features within the premises of the Pipeline were physically surveyed and noted.
All drawing were done in Auto cad 3D Civil.

4. Observations
a) There is a section of construction drawing missing between W3.33 to W3.54 of
Proposed New Rundu WTW to Nkarapamwe Pipeline Route.

b) New Rundu WTP to Nkarapamwe Water Pipeline and Boundary Wall

Encroachment

At point name W3.78 there is an encroachment of boundary wall into the street. As shown on
the figure attached below, there is a distance of 17cm between the existing boundary wall and
the line of the proposed new water pipe.

2
Figure 3: Boundary wall encroachment

 At Bwall7 the Proposed new Water pipe line lies 34.10cm from the existing boundary
wall as shown on the figure above.
 At Bwall5 the existing boundary wall encroached into the street and exceeded the
Pipe line with a distance of 1.1404m.
 At Bwall3, the existing boundary encroached into the street and exceeded the pipe
line with 0.4289cm

c) Nkarapamwe to Kayengona Proposed Clear water Gravity Main

There is a protected tree called Mangeti tree falling within the premises of the proposed clear
water Gravity Main as shown on the figure below.

5. Conclusion
For all the chainages provided with the design of the pipeline, preliminary demarcation was
done and all features interfering with the premises of the pipeline were surveyed and noted.
The challenges and obstructions within the pipeline alignment due to the permanent structures
and natural trees shall be reviewed and resolved with the Engineer.
