Admission requirements for Master’s degree

●2-3 Recommendation letters from your professors


●CV or Resume
●Transcripts
●Language Tests (IELTS, TOEFL)
●Statement of Purpose (Motivational Letter)
●GRE Scores (optional)
For professional vacancies the requirements are specific by each
company/organization, but usually require minimum Resume and
Interview.
Understanding yourself
Choosing the university
• First decide whether the university suits you
• if yes, then look through the admission requirements
Start doing various activities
• Club activities
• Internships
• Assistantships, etc.
Keep in mind what story you want to tell in your resume or motivation.
Develop your research history and experience
How to choose university

•Maybe you are searching for specific courses

Financial Aid •Do they have scholarships?

•Is there a scholar/professor that focuses on your interested research

➢ In most Western universities, especially in the US, admission
process is finalized prior to mid-December, end-January
○ Usually, those deadlines are for the scholarship considerations
○ But it depends on the university, some have different deadlines
➢ Some countries require particular amount of School years (ex.,
Japan, Germany)
➢ Some countries require document submission through special state
app/website (ex. France)
○ But usually universities have their own websites for admission.
Financial Aid
❖ Merit-based scholarships - based on your achievements
❖ Need-based scholarships - based on the financial features of
you/your family
❖ Fellowships/assistantships - may require you to work as a research
assistant, etc.
❖ External Funding
➢ State scholarships: USA - Fulbright, UK - Chievening, Germany -
DAAD, France - Eiffel, Japan - MEXT, Kazakhstan - Bolashak.
➢ Private Funds: in the name of someone, some organization: The
Nurlan Kapparov Fellowship - Scholarship for Graduate students
to pursue study in Harvard.
