III. PROCEDURES
 PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES
1. PRAYER
2. SETTING THE ATMOSPHERE OF THE CLASSROOM
 The teacher should welcome the pupils to foster a sense of belonging
and remind them of the classroom rules.
Say: Class, please be mindful of the rules we agreed upon.
a. Respect and actively listen to both your teacher and classmates
b. When you wish to contribute to the discussion or seek
clarification, please raise your hand.
c. Actively participate in every group activity.
A. REVIEW
Ask the class about the previous lesson.
Inquire about what they learned in the previous session.
Ask the students if they understood the past lesson.
B. MOTIVATION

Say: Hello, everyone! Today, we will have a fun lesson about words and
the sky! We are going to learn about some special words called
adverbs of manner, and also talk about words that sound a bit
different – they are called vowel diphthongs. And guess what? We
will also explore what we can see in the sky during the day and at
night! So, let us get ready to learn together! We will discover how
words can describe actions, explore some cool sounds in words, and
take a peek at the amazing things in the sky when the sun is shining
bright or when it's time for the stars to sparkle. Are you excited? Let
us jump right in and have some fun learning!

 Our first activity today is designed to spark critical thinking and set the
stage for our lesson. Get ready for "Picture Guess Me" – a game that
combines fun and learning! In this game, you will be presented with
pictures depicting different natural objects found in the sky during
daytime or nighttime. Your task is not only to guess the picture but
also to recognize adverbs of manner and identify words with vowel
diphthongs in the given sentences. Get ready for an exciting challenge
that will enhance your observational and language skills! It is a
fantastic way to activate your minds, warm up, and drive us straight
into our lesson. Ready to dive in? Let the guessing game begin!
‘Picture Guess Me’
Procedures:
 The teacher displays pictures depicting various natural objects found in
the sky during daytime or nighttime, one at a time.
 Students have a designated amount of time to guess what each picture
represents.
 After each picture, the teacher provides a sentence containing an
adverb of manner and words with vowel diphthongs. Students identify
the adverb of manner and diphthong in the sentence with the help of
questions.
 After each round, the teacher leads a discussion about the identified
natural objects, adverbs of manner, and words with vowel diphthongs,
reinforcing learning and understanding.
 Repeat steps 2-4 with additional pictures and sentences as desired.
Conclude the activity by summarizing key learning and highlighting the
importance of observation and language skills in understanding the
natural world
EXAMPLES:

The sun shines joyfully.

 What can you see in the picture? - sun

 How does the sun shine? – joyfully
 What word in the sentence has an ‘oy’
sound? - joyfully

The moon glows brightly in the night sky.

 What is visible in the image? - moon
 How does the moon glow? – brightly
 What word in the sentence has an ‘ow’
sound? - glow
The rainbow slowly fades away.
 What do you observe in the picture? - rainbow
 How does the rainbow fade away? – slowly
 What words in the sentence has an
‘ow’ sound? – rainbow and slowly

Presentation of the Objectives:

Say: At the end of the lesson, you are expected to:
a. recognize adverbs of manner;
b. identify words with vowel diphthongs such as ‘oy’ and ‘ow’ in
sentences; and
c. determine the natural objects that are found in the sky during
daytime and nighttime.

C. ACTIVITY - BOARD WORK ACTIVITY

Say: Let us reinforce what we have learned with a fun group activity!
This will help us understand the topic better. Work together and apply what
you know. Get ready for a hands-on learning experience as we explore
recognizing adverbs of manner, identifying words with vowel diphthongs
such as ‘oy’ and ‘ow’ in sentences, and determining the natural objects that
are found in the sky during daytime and nighttime. Now, are you ready FOR
THE ACTIVITY?
 Mechanics:
 The teacher will provide various sentences on the board.
 If the teacher says 'DAY,' your response is to stand up, and if the
teacher says 'NIGHT,' your response is to sit down. However, if
the teacher notices anyone is late to stand or sit, be prepared to
answer questions.
 The pupils will circle the words that answer the question 'HOW'
to recognize the adverb of manner, box the words with vowel
diphthongs ('oy' and 'ow'), and underline the word indicating a
natural object found in the sky during both daytime and nighttime
in the provided sentences.
Examples:
1. The stars shine glowingly in the night sky.

2. The clouds slowly drift across the sky

3. The yellow sun radiates brightly.

D. ANALYSIS

(Discuss what is done in the group activity.)

 The teacher will engage students actively by calling out their
names and inviting them to share their responses with the help
of guide questions.
Guide Questions!
• What did you do in the activity?
• What have you observed in each sentence?
• Can you tell me the adverb of manner in sentence number 1?
• Can you cite the word diphthong in the first sentence?
• Can you also determine what natural object that can be found in
the sky being mentioned in the first sentence?
• Repeat questions for sentences 2 and 3 as desired.
• (The teacher will persist in delivering an improved analysis to
the learners.)
Say: Good job, my dear learners! I’m glad that you can easily
understand what you have learned in this lesson! Keep it up!
E. ABSTRACTION
(The teacher will provide a concise yet comprehensive discussion that
bridges the lesson content within and across the curriculum, creating a
unified and interconnected learning experience.)
Teacher: " Alright, let's dive deeper into our lesson today. Think about
words like 'quickly,' 'beautifully,' 'happily,' and 'slowly.'
These words are called adverbs of manner because they
tell us how actions are done, like when the stars twinkle
beautifully or shine joyously. The adverbs of manner are
'beautifully' and 'joyously' because they answer the question
‘HOW’. Now, let's switch gears and talk about special
sounds in words. Have you heard words like 'boy' or
‘rainbow’ and noticed the 'oy' and 'ow' sounds? These are
called vowel diphthongs, and they make words sound
special.
The teacher continues: "Now, let's take a closer look at the sky.
During the day, what do we see up there? That's right, the
sun shining bright and fluffy clouds drifting by. And at night,
what twinkles above us? Yes, stars! Sometimes we can
even see the moon glowing in the dark sky. These are all
natural things in the sky.
The teacher concludes: So, today we're learning about adverbs that
tell us how things happen, special sounds in words, and
things we see in the sky during the day and at night. For
instance, in the sentence 'The sun glows brightly,' we can
now recognize an adverb of manner, which is 'brightly'
because it answers the question 'how'. Then, we can identify
the vowel diphthong, which is 'glows' because it has an 'ow'
sound, and we can recognize the natural object 'sun'
because it can be found in the sky. By understanding all of
these, we become really smart and observant learners!
IV. APPLICATION (Group Activity)
 Mechanics:
 Divide the class into two (2) groups.
 They will be given only five (5) minutes to complete the task.
 The representative of the group will report their finished output
 The teacher will oversee the task and evaluate the groups
based on the criteria outlined in Rubric Annex A.
DIRECTIONS: Below are the following sentences that consist of an adverb of
manner, vowel diphthongs, and natural sky objects. Fill in the
box that corresponds to its column. The first one is provided
as an example for you to understand.
(For Group 1 & Group 2)
Example: The boy flies his kite amazingly in the park.
1. The rainbow appears brightly after the rain.
2. The sun sets slowly in the sky.
3. The birds chirp joyously in the morning sky
