(Students followed the instructions)
Please arrange your chairs and pick –
up some pieces of trash that you can
see….
Yes!
(Many students will raise their hands)
6. REVIEW THE PAST LESSON
Before we start our new lesson, who can recap Our topic last meeting sir, we have tackled
our topic yesterday? about conversion of units
Very good, you did learn our lesson. (Many students will raise their hands)
B. MOTIVATION:
(Students will raise their hands)
What is this class? I will show up a piece of
wood/lumber
Yes, class.
The door is made of lumber sir.
Very good!
The chairs, tables, and cabinets are also
made of lumber materials.
Can you see things inside this classroom that
are made of woods/lumber? (Many students will raise their hands)
Yes, The lumber used in making chairs, tables,
and door are different. Some lumbers are
Correct, What else? Yes. small, some are wide, some are medium-sized,
some are long and some are short.
What have you noticed to the sizes of the
lumber used in making chairs, tables, doors,
etc.?
No, sir.
Very good observation, since you have
mentioned about small, wide, medium-sized,
long and short lumber.
(Reading of Objectives)
Class, do you have an idea on how to calculate
the board foot lumber? Objectives:
At the end of the period, the students are

C. LESSON PROPER
Yes Sir.
T = Thickness in inches
W= Width in inches
L = Length in feet
(students will raise their hands)
Do you understand class?
Okay, very good, how about the width of the The students will recite in chorus and
pointing each area respectively
lumber?
Very good.
Students will say: Pull-push rule sir.
So again, which is the thickness, the width and the
length of this lumber?
Yes Sir.
Do you think it is important to identify the
thickness, the width and the length of the lumber
materials in calculating?
Yes sir.
Very good, Okay, let us start calculate the board
foot of this sample lumber material. What are we
going to use in measuring it?
Very good.
12
Where:
T = Thickness in inches
W= Width in inches
L = Length in feet
Given. T = 2”
W = 4”
L = 12’
12 Yes sir.
Step 4. Substitute the given data in the formula, (Students will raise their hands)
then solve.
12; W = 6”
= 2” x 4” x 12’ L = 24’
= 96/12
Find the Bd. Ft. =?
= 8 Bd. Ft
Step 3. State the formula
Do you understand class?
Formula: Bd. Ft. = T x W x L
12
Do you have any question, class?
Step 4. Substitute the given data in the
Do you understand class? formula, then solve.
= 1” x 6” x 24’
12
= 144/12
= 12 Bd. Ft
12
None sir.
Yes, sir!
(Students are doing their assigned activity and
collaborating with their respective groups)
D. APPLICATION:
So now, since you have already understood our
discussion, let’s proceed to your activity.
I will group you into two and then, you are going to look
around this classroom and look for something that is made
of lumber materials and it is possible to take its dimensions. I
will provide each group a push-pull rule. You only have to
provide at least three (3). I will give you 15 minutes to do this
activity and write in manila paper the specific lumber you
had measure of its dimensions and calculate of board foot.
After 15 minutes your work will be present in front. Your
activity will be graded base from the given criteria below:
Okay, time is up. You may now group 1 present here in front
and after the group 2
Afterwards, the teacher will ask if group 1 is correct
not). Okay, the group 1 is correct and also group 2
Congratulations group 1 and group 2, job well
done. (Students raise their hands)
