BBM-LL.B
The BBM-LL.B. is a special integrated 5-year law programme that aims at creating a band
of modern lawyers who are knowledgeable and skilled to meet the current requirements
of legal profession. This degree qualifies the graduates to apply for membership of the
Bar to practice law in Nepal. It meets all requirements of a professional undergraduate
law degree or Legum Baccalaureus with additional exposure to management that creates
an added advantage for them to work as lawyers in corporate sector and public
enterprises.

After completion of this programme, the graduates will be able to develop a competitive
edge in the business sector including the practice of corporate and business related laws
in courts and quasi-judicial bodies.

Unlike traditional law degrees, this programme offers a unique combination of business
and legal content. It equips students with management skills and comprehensive
practical knowledge of business laws, thus, enabling them to assess and offer solutions to
legal problems from different perspectives. In addition to teaching relevant content from
accounting, finance, strategic management, human resource management, marketing
and corporate and business laws, the programme places a particular emphasis on
valuable legal and management skills.
BEc-LL.B

The integrated Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Law (BEc-LL.B) Programme is the
second undergraduate programme offered by the School.

The legal component gives the same focus and strength in BEc-LL.B that has been given
in the BBM-LL.B programme. It meets all requirements of the professional
undergraduate degree or Legum Baccalaureus. The graduates will be trained for
appearing in the Bar exam and developing analytical ability in advising or representing as
a lawyer.

As an integrated programme it aims at creating a band of modern lawyers who are also
knowledgeable and skilled in the basics of economics. The study of economics as part of
the legal education helps the law students to benefit from the understanding of
economic welfare and optimal utilization of scarce resources while working in the private
or public sector. Law and economics as a single subject area sharpens skills of a lawyer.

The BEc-LL.B programme is the first of its kind in Nepal. Through the integrated study of
economics and law, the School hopes to begin training future legal practitioners who are
able to provide legal expertise in matters relating to the economics of Nepal, including
the financial and development sectors. The demand for such lawyers will increase as
Nepal moves forward with many initiatives towards economic prosperity by means of
public policy and the law.
FURTHER EDUCATIONAL PATHWAYS
Our graduates are qualified to be admitted to Master of Laws or
Masters of Business Administration or Masters programme in
Economics, whatever is their choice, for further studies. They have
multiple postgraduate options within the University and outside.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR GRADUATES

In addition to the opportunities in the Government of Nepal, including
public prosecutors, court officers and legal officers, our graduates may

companies, business houses, construction sector, power industry,
hospitals, roads and transportation entities, tourism and other
industrial sectors. They may also consider working in public
administration, real estate management, corporate business, taxation

WHY STUDY LAW?
A law degree will provide access to a variety of legal careers. It will also give you an
excellent springboard into a wide range of other opportunities. Law is special
because more than half of the entire graduate jobs do not require any particular
degree background and a good Law degree will always allow the graduates to
present plenty of additional important skills to future employers. Through the
analysis of case studies and other academic works in respective law programmes
the graduates will become highly skilled in researching and evaluating large
amounts of information and complex data. These are important skills for a vast
range of professions in commerce and industry.

A law graduate will develop strong oral and written communications skills, which are
needed by all employers these days. S/he will learn to approach tasks in a clear,
reasoned and logical way. S/he will become an effective problem solver and develop
a deeper understanding of the issues pertinent to her/his field of work.
Furthermore, law manages to affect everything and studying it gives the freedom to
develop interest in almost anything; from geo-politics & international law to medical
negligence & tort law and from sociology & family law to economics and human
rights. Is it any wonder that so many world leaders and policy makers have a
background in law?

Our graduates/students have achieved valuable credentials from the local level
government bodies for their contribution to community legal service. They have
actively participated in national and international level debates and Moot Court
competitions. As growing professionals, students of KUSOL are already serving
national and international agencies as an interns, associates and researchers.
KUSOL has also been participating in number of sporting events as part of extra-
curricular activities. Moreover, KUSOL has its own history of organizing national level
sporting and other events. Students of KUSOL have participated and performed in
activities organized to promote various cultures and traditions of Nepalese society.

MESSAGE FROM ALUMNI

MS. SHREYA JOSHI

Recipient of Chevening Scholarship for LL.M study
in Cambridge University

Kathmandu University School of Law was a wonderful five years long

experience where I acquired legal knowledge and life skills. KUSOL boasts
a talented, experienced and amicable faculty that is only growing over the
years.

At KUSOL I got the opportunity to hone my debating as well as mooting

skills. I learnt team work, leadership and advocacy through vibrant
student led clubs and initiatives within the university. I also got the
opportunity to represent KU at national and international debating
events, competitions and other legal and policy conferences.

Despite being a new law School, the alumni network is also getting
stronger as the graduates have gone on to receive both national and
international exposure.

Perhaps what I cherish the most about KUSOL is its scenic location with a
breathtaking view of the snow capped mountains from our classrooms
and canteen.

KUSOL is the right institution for anybody who loves rigorous academic
discourse, adventures, nature, books, learning and extra curricular
activities.
