Installation instructions
The procedure for RMC installation is available in the Recovery Manager Central Installation Guide.

Upgrade information
You can upgrade to RMC 6.2.0 from 5.0.x and 6.x.0 using the RMC GUI. The upgrade procedure is available in the Recovery
Manager Central 6.2.0 Online Help.
Deprecated features
List of features obsolete from RMC 6.2.0 release:

• ISV support - The ability to perform ISV backups of RMC created snapshots. The ISV backup feature of RMC is not
supported because this feature is not a user-friendly way and requires two panes of glass for management.
• Support for multiple RMC appliances with one VMware vCenter not supported as it does not provide a simplified
management for users. As an alternative, when an RMC appliance of the right sized geometry is used, management
becomes simplified.

Limitations
• For RMC-O, if the Linux Logical Volume Manager (LVM) version is earlier than 2.02.143, creation of multiple clones is
not supported with nonroot users.
• RMC-O does not support the protection of logical volumes in a mirrored configured Oracle database.

6 Release notes
• The current version of RMC supports only crash-consistent level of protection for the Nimble volumes with synchronous
replication.
• RMC-E does not support protecting an MS Exchange database hosted on an HPE Nimble Storage volume which is
already protected by Nimble VSS provider. Remove the Microsoft VSS application protection option of the volume
collection from the Nimble GUI to proceed with protection of MS Exchange database through RMC-E.

Issues and workarounds

The open issues and the workarounds for the different RMC plug-ins are categorized and listed in this section. The first
statement states the issue that you may have encountered and is followed by a suggested action.

RMC
When the copies count is large in number, the copies screen hangs, preventing all the further operations

Action

For all the copy policies, set the Auto Delete After option to ensure that the old snapshots are automatically deleted.

Volume collections with a combination of GST (Group Scoped Target) and VST (Volume Scoped Target)
volumes fail during Peer Copy and Express Protect operations

Symptom
Volume collections with a combination of GST (Group Scoped Target) and VST (Volume Scoped Target) volumes fail during
Peer Copy and Express Protect operations.

Action

Do not include GST and VST volumes in a single collection.

In case of RMC upgrade from RMC 5.0.x to RMC 6.2.0 and with remote configuration migrated, reports
in dashboard and storage device page display migrated local snapshots as remote snapshots

Action

No action required.

RMC-E
Associating a GOLD policy to multiple databases (for example, more than 20) hosted on a single MS
Exchange server may result in snapshot requests queuing up and failing

Action

For Exchange Servers displaying this issue, remove protection from each database and readd protection for each of the
databases individually by staggering the minute setting in the Effective From option to roll the execution of snapshots on

Release notes 7
the server. Alternatively, if databases have multiple instances in DAG then when applying protection to individual databases,
select alternative snapshot Server to balance the snapshot workload across multiple servers.

RMC-E snapshot creation fails if you are protecting the HPE Nimble Storage volume collection using
Nimble GUI and Nimble VSS provider

Action

1. Remove the Microsoft VSS application protection option of the volume collection from the Nimble GUI.
2. Retry snapshot creation operation.
