Introduction
Agri-tourism, defined as the combination between tourism and agriculture,
focuses on exploring agricultural areas and the processes associated with farming.
This growing industry offers tourists an educational experience and provides
farmers with a second source of income, varying in style depending on the region
and type of agriculture (Rathour, 2023). Access to high-quality tourism data is
crucial for managing and planning tourist routes, highlighting the need for improved
information governance and data management in the tourism industry.

Introduction
Challenges to the growth of agri-tourism in the Philippines include a lack of
experience and entrepreneurial skills among farmers. Farmers struggle to balance
everyday agricultural activities with diversifying their farms to attract tourists, as
government programs prioritize productivity over entrepreneurship. Additionally,
farmers are not well-informed about tourism markets and trends and are poor at
marketing, resulting in poor communication and ineffective promotion of agri-
tourism products (Ocampo et al., 2021).

Introduction
The Web-based Agri-tourism Information Management with Tour Scheduling
addresses these issues by offering an integrated marketing and promotion platform
for agri-tourism destinations. This system helps farmers meet their marketing and
promotional needs while assisting tourists in accessing information and organizing
itineraries for agri-tourism destinations.

Project Context
The project Web-Based Agri-Tourism Information Management with Tour
Scheduling aims to solve the lack in the agri-tourism industry's information
management and tour scheduling systems. It offers a centralized platform for
managing agri-tourism destinations in an effort to improve tourist experiences and
optimize operations. The project intends to improve information access, itinerary
planning, and tour scheduling within the Cebu Provincial Tourism Office.
Computerization made tasks like updating tour schedules, promoting agri-tourism,
and giving sufficient destination information more efficient.

Project Context
Hence, the residents and officers in the tourism office will be our main
respondents. The project will start in March 2024 and end in December 2024. The
phases of development, testing, and implementation are expected to take a total of
nine months. The project will be carried out and implemented at Cebu Provincial
Tourism Office. The developers propose this project to address the existing
challenges faced by agri-tourism destinations. By the use of web-based technologies,
the initiative intends to improve the experience of tourists, modernize operations,
and encourage the agri-tourism industry's sustainable growth.

Purpose and Description

This project is intended to provide a comprehensive web platform that
integrates tour scheduling features and enables the effective management of agri-
tourism information, design and develop a system to computerize the information
management of Cebu Provincial Tourism Office. This project aims to implement a
computerized information management system for the Cebu City particularly the
Tourism Office to manage and promote agri-tourism destinations. Moreover, this
will also help the tourist view and access thorough information of agri-tourism
destinations, which include user reviews, multimedia content, and in-depth
descriptions.

Purpose and Description

This study was intended for various groups of people who could benefit from
the system. The result of the study would beneficial to the following:

Farm Owners. By promoting and advertising their tourist destinations,

farmers can bring in more tourists and boost their income. User reviews can provide
significant information for farm owners/operators by enabling them to better
understand the experiences, preferences, and areas for development of their guests.
Farm owners will be able to improve their agri-tourism offers and give future guests
a better experience.

Tourists. Tourists' overall experience will be improved by having convenient
access to comprehensive information on agri-tourism destinations, including user
reviews, multimedia content, and thorough descriptions.

Developers. The system's developers will advance their professional

development and expertise by gaining experience in creating and executing a
comprehensive web platform with tour scheduling features. They will also gain a
deeper understanding of agri-tourism practices and the specific needs of both farm
owners and tourists.

Purpose and Description

Future Researchers. Researchers in the future who are interested in studying
agri-tourism management systems and their effects on local tourist development
can find great value in the study's results and the system that has been
implemented.

Objectives
The study primarily aimed to design and develop a Web-based Agri-tourism
Information Management with Tour Scheduling which will be implemented at the
Cebu Provincial Tourism Office to address the problems pertaining to the challenges
encountered within the agri-tourism industry.

Specifically, this capstone project aims:

• To conduct a preliminary survey to gather relevant and necessary data for
the project development, particularly on the actual setting of the Tourism Office.
• To analyze the gathered data to determine the desired functional
requirements of the proposed system.
• To design a user-friendly interface that allows both agri-tourism operators
and visitors to easily navigate through the platform, managing information, viewing
insights, and accessing relevant information about the destinations using HTML, CSS,
JavaScript, and MySQL database running in XAMPP.

Agri-tourism is becoming more popular for small and medium farms because it provides extra income and
community benefits. However, it faces challenges like regulations, liability issues, and poor internet access,
which can vary by location. Success in agri-tourism requires good resources and internet connectivity.
Improvements in these areas and clearer regulations can help overcome some of these difficulties (Hollas
et al., 2022). Agri-tourism blends tourism with farming by inviting visitors to farms for hands-on agricultural
activities. This industry faces challenges like population growth, limited resources, and climate change,
creating a need for sustainable solutions. Technological advancements, such as smart farming and ICT, help
farmers by providing better market access and empowerment. Adopting these technologies is crucial for
the future of agriculture, promoting both productivity and sustainability. This approach helps farmers
attract tourists and supports agricultural growth (Rathore & Mandot, 2020).

In the 21st century, information technology is very important for tourism in Lithuania. It helps with booking,
accommodation, and travel services. Tourism businesses rely on it to reach more people, give detailed
information, and manage customer needs effectively. Innovations in information systems help with
managing networks, creating products, and staying competitive. Using these systems strategically,
businesses can showcase attractions, make better decisions, and offer quick access to personalized tourism
products (Malcienė & Skauronė, 2019).

Review of Related Literature

Critics of agriculture's focus on specialization and large-scale operations are increasingly advocating for
diversification to better integrate farming into broader business chains. Technological advances have
transformed how agriculture manages information and production, highlighting the need for innovation to
stay competitive. Agri-tourism significantly boosts the EU economy, especially in rural areas, but many
operators face financial and skills challenges. In Greece, the economic benefits of agri-tourism are growing,
yet there are issues with inadequate IT strategies and ineffective information systems. There is also a lack
of research on how small and medium-sized agri-tourism businesses can strategically use IT, making it
difficult to align IT with business goals (Kamariotou & Kitsios, 2020).

As tourism grows globally, information technology is becoming more crucial. Developed countries in the
tourism industry rely a lot on creating, storing, processing, and sharing information. To work well, the
tourism sector needs advanced digital methods to gather and analyze business data. Modern tourism relies
heavily on information technologies like the internet to enhance communication, integration, and services
(Labunska et al., 2022). Tourists now have easier access to travel information thanks to technology and the
internet, boosting the tourism industry. Specialized apps allow tourists to find travel deals and plan trips
easily. These apps need real-time data and smart systems to give better recommendations. Different
recommendation algorithms are used in smart tourism to personalize trips for users (Hassannia et al.,
2019).

As living standards improve and technology advances, more people are traveling. However, finding the
perfect vacation spot can be hard because there's so much information available. To help with this, travel
software now uses recommender systems. These systems suggest destinations based on personal
preferences, making it easier for travelers to choose and reducing the overwhelm from too much
information (Alrasheed et al., 2020). Algorithms help solve scheduling and recommendation problems
efficiently, which is important for tourists who need better guidance on attraction hours, travel times, and
options. These algorithms optimize routes, making them more effective than traditional methods. They
allow the system to choose attractions, calculate distances, enter preferences, visualize routes, and provide
personalized recommendations. Users can select attractions and receive tailored advice through a web-
based interface (Saifullah et al., 2019).

The internet has transformed travel by boosting interaction between travelers and travel agencies or
websites. A strong online presence and easy-to-use websites are vital for tourism organizations because
many people search for travel information online. Good website usability directly affects user satisfaction.
Effective travel websites should offer personalized services and easy navigation, but many face issues like
complex designs and security flaws. By improving website usability with user-centered design, the travel
industry can enhance user experiences, increase acceptance, and support the online tourism sector (Huang,
2020).

Indonesia's tourism industry is crucial for its economy, but to stay competitive, it needs to adopt digital
technologies. Good website and app design, focusing on user needs and ease of use, is essential. The User
Experience Questionnaire (UEQ) and User-Centered Design (UCD) approach help ensure that designs meet
user expectations. By involving users in every step of the design process, productivity and design quality
improve, leading to better user satisfaction (Yasmine & Atmojo, 2022). Travel websites need to be easy to
use, especially on phones and tablets. They should show lots of details about places, like weather and
things to do. Also, having reviews from other travelers helps people trust the website more. Interactive
maps and plans can help users plan their trips better (Zafar, 2023).

Local tourism often lacks up-to-date information, causing issues for tourists who rely on it. To tackle this, a
solution is proposed: a mobile app with real-time updates on arrivals at city areas, using GPS and Wi-Fi
signals. This system aims to improve tourist experiences, help city development, and provide useful data to
officials and businesses (Ivanochko et al., 2021). GPS tracking technology is becoming more popular in
tours and travel. It helps businesses keep an eye on their vehicles by knowing where they are, how fast
they're going, and how well they're doing. This helps them manage their vehicles better. With GPS,
companies can plan better routes to save time and avoid traffic. Plus, it keeps clients informed about where
their vehicle is and when it will arrive, making them happier. Overall, GPS tracking in tours and travel helps
businesses save money, work better, and make smarter decisions (LocoNav, 2022).

In Europe since the 1980s, farming has expanded beyond just growing food. Now, farmers also focus on
things like tourism and taking care of the land. This change helps rural areas grow by bringing in tourists
who are interested in farming and nature. Despite challenges from COVID-19, places with fewer people, like
parts of Spain and Portugal, have seen more tourists, especially those interested in farming. This shift
benefits both the community and the environment by creating jobs and preserving nature. Overall,
combining farming, tourism, and environmental care is important for rural areas to thrive (Ferreira &
Sánchez-Martín, 2022).

Agri-tourism is about farms offering fun activities for visitors while also helping farmers earn money and
taking care of the environment. It's important for keeping farming healthy and growing the economy. By
letting city people experience farm life, it helps them appreciate traditional farming in rural areas. This type
of tourism also brings social benefits, different ways to earn money, and jobs. When communities work
together to manage tourism, it helps the economy grow while keeping nature and local culture safe. But it's
not easy to do this well. People need to be educated and plan carefully for it to work. Working with local
governments and choosing good leaders are important too (Paladan, 2020).

Agri-tourism is a special kind of tourism that helps rural areas make money and grow. It's really important
for places that are still developing. For it to work well, it has to be sustainable, which means it should help
the environment, keep local traditions alive, and make sure people in the community benefit too. This kind
of tourism can only thrive if it's good for the environment, supports local culture, and helps local people,
especially women. It also needs good facilities and infrastructure, like nice places to stay and easy
transportation. So when planning agri-tourism, it's important to think about how i,t affects people, the
environment, and the local economy (Sumardi et al., 2023).

rural areas grow and thrive, they need good plans for rural development. One important part of this is
agrifood systems, which focus on making food in a way that's good for the environment and connects
farmers directly with people who eat their food. Other ideas like agri-tourism, where tourists visit farms
and rural areas, can also help rural communities by supporting local businesses, preserving local traditions,
and taking care of the environment. Even though agri-tourism is seen as a helpful way for rural areas to
develop, there are still problems like not enough advertising and not enough money, so more research and
better solutions are needed (Wang et al., 2023).

In rural areas, there are problems like more older people, cutting down trees, and not enough new ideas
for making money and social stuff. But tourism helps rural places a lot by bringing people together, bringing
in money, and making the local economy stronger. Even though some rural places don't have good internet
or technology, people are working on fixing that. By making their place look good and getting tourists from
other countries, rural places can get better at using technology and advertising online, which helps them
stay strong and keep going (Rodrigues et al., 2023).

Digital marketing has revolutionized the travel industry by helping tourist spots reach people all over the
world through social media, search engines, and online travel sites. This means places can create special
plans to attract visitors and make more people know about them. Many famous destinations have used
digital marketing to target specific places and groups of people, leading to more visits and sales. By using
interactive content and stories, digital marketing has made it easier for tourists to connect with their
favorite destinations (Musliha & Adinugraha, 2022).

Extreme Programming (XP) is a way of making websites that focuses a lot on making customers happy and
getting feedback quickly. It helps developers work better as a team and communicate well. XP is good
because it keeps customers happy, makes sure the software works well by testing it a lot, and helps finish
tasks faster. But sometimes it can be hard to change things or handle big tasks. Still, XP helps deal with risks,
adapt to changes, and keeps developers motivated (Gavriluk, 2023).

Synthesis of the review
A growing interest in agri-tourism is evident from the synthesis of the examined literature, likely because of
the potential advantages it offers to both tourists and farmers. In order to improve the tourist experience,
technology integrations like GPS tracking and smartphone applications are also becoming increasingly
popular. The previously reviewed literature shared some features with the current project, including a
navigation system, an easy-to-use interface, recommendation feature, detailed local information including
travel tips and attractions, reviews, ratings, and recommendations, maps, and itineraries. However, a
significant gap in current studies is the scant attention to community engagement in agri-tourism initiatives.
In order to promote more community support and involvement, it is therefore essential to address this gap
in the context of building a Web-based Agri-tourism Information Management.

Requirements Analysis
This portion of the requirements analysis includes the population and locale of
the study. The study will be conducted at the Cebu Provincial Tourism Office, Cebu
City. The respondents are the residents and officers.

Requirements Analysis
Population. The population for study is presented in this section. The Web-based
Agri-tourism Information Management with Tour Scheduling system is primarily
used by 22 officers of the Cebu Provincial Tourism Office, who serve as the primary
and ideal client because they have extensive knowledge of agri-tourism sites. A
population's use of a system indicates that it is accessible to a particular set of
individuals, such as potential tourists who intend to browse tourist attractions.

Requirements Analysis
Locale of the study. Implementing a Web-based Agri-tourism Information
Management with Tour Scheduling can lead to a simpler and more efficient
information management process, benefiting both the office and the tourists. The
system was implemented at the Cebu Provincial Tourism Office, chosen as the locale
for this study due to the abundance of agri-tourism sites in the region. This section

System Evaluation
The researcher evaluates the system performance to confirm its adherence to the
ISO 25010 Standards.
The deployment aims to build, test, and deliver services to the users specified by
service design. The goal is to deploy releases into operation and establish effective
use of the service to deliver value to the users.

System Evaluation
System evaluation is the assessment and deployment of the overall system. It is
essential both at the start and the finish of the process. Twenty (20) respondents
are given the opportunity to test the system, and the researcher collects their input
by having them complete the pre-prepared study instrument. The researcher uses
the scale below to interpret the collected data.
