The American Heart Association, in partnership with The University of Miami’s Gordon Center, is excited to
announce a new stroke education course for in-hospital and prehospital healthcare professionals. The new
Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS®) Blended Learning Course will educate healthcare professionals to
identify, evaluate, and manage patients with stroke.
BLENDED LEARNING FORMAT
Blended Learning courses consists of both an online, self-directed portion, followed by an in-person skills
testing session with an ASLS Instructor.
WHO SHOULD TAKE THE COURSE?
ASLS is appropriate for all healthcare providers involved in the
management of acute stroke patients and meets the education
requirements for Stroke Center Certification.

Please note, this new stroke discipline will be initially available only to ACLS Training Centers and Instructors, as well as The Gordon
Center’s current ASLS Instructors.

*Winner will not need to be present and will be announced after ISC.
After ISC, the winner will be:
• Have the option to choose which course track they would like to complete: prehospital, in-hospital, or a
combined track that covers both settings.
• After the winner has activated the course license, access to the course, the ASLS Provider Manual, and
ASLS Digital Reference Guide will last for two years.
After completing the online course, there are two options for skills check off:
1. Your Training Center can request to add the ASLS discipline to their course offerings if not currently
offered.
2. Contact a new ASLS Training Center in your area to receive in-person skills check off. Please note: New
ASLS Training Centers are still being established. We can help provide direction on Training Centers in
your area that are offering the course externally after completion of the online course.
