Specimen: UTERUS AND CERVIX WITH BILATERAL ADNEXAE
Clinical Findings: - Post menopausal bleeding

Gross: Specimen is received in formalin in three containers labeled as:
A): Uterus: The specimen consists of uterus and cervix. Uterus (5.5x5.5x2.0cm), cervix (3.0x3.0x2.5cm).
Endocervical canal (3.0x0.5cm), endometrial cavity (5.5x3.0cm). Maximum endometrial thickness (0.2cm)
and myometrial thickness (1.5cm).
There is polypoidal lesion present in the endometrium cavity (6.0x3.0x2.5cm). Grossly focal invasion into
the myometrium is seen.

B): Right Ovary: The specimen consists of ovarian cyst (2.2x1.6x0.5cm) with attached fallopian tube
(2.0x0.5cm). Outer surface of the cyst is smooth, no surface deposits are identified. No solid areas or
papillary projections are noted. Representative sections are taken in two blocks as B1-2.
C): Left ovary and fallopian tube: The specimen consists of ovarian cyst (2.5x2.0x0.5cm) with attached
fallopian tube (2.5x1.0cm). Outer surface of the cyst is smooth, no surface deposits are identified. No
solid areas or papillary projections are noted. Representative sections are taken in two blocks as C1-2.
Microscopy:
A): Histological examination of sections from the polypoidal piece of tissue reveal a malignant neoplasm
composed of monotonous population of cells with hyperchromatic nuclei, appreciable cytoplasm and
mild nuclear atypia. Few rare mitosis are seen. Tumor is infiltrating to the myometrium. Both parametria
and lower uterine segment are free of tumor.
Background endometrium shows cystic atrophy.
Cervix is free of tumor and shows stratified squamous epithelium and endocervical lining. The underlying
stroma contains chronic inflammatory cell infiltrate.
Immunostains:
CD-10: Positive in lesional cells
ER: Positive in lesional cells
Cyclin-D1: Positive in lesional cells
B): Histological examination of the sections reveal a cyst is lined by cuboidal to low columnar epithelium.
Nuclei are regular in morphology. The intervening stroma shows fibrosis. Fallopian tube is unremarkable.
No evidence of tumor is seen.
C): Histological examination of the sections reveal a cyst is lined by cuboidal to low columnar epithelium.
Nuclei are regular in morphology. The intervening stroma shows fibrosis. Fallopian tube is unremarkable.
No evidence of tumor is seen.
