  Geometric Features
Greece is located in southeastern Europe, at the
southern tip of the Balkan peninsula. It has an area
of approximately 131,957 km². The Greek geography is
very mountainous and has an extensive coastline
due to its large number of islands, around 6,000, of
which approximately 227 are inhabited. Mountains,
valleys and an intricate coastline characterize its
territory.

 Location
Greece is located in southeastern Europe and is
bordered to the north by Albania, North Macedonia
and Bulgaria, and to the northeast by Turkey. It is
surrounded by the Aegean Sea to the east, the Ionian

south. Its capital is Athens, a city with a rich history

  by hot, dry summers and mild, rainy winters, making it a
   popular tourist destination all year round. Greece is
known for its cultural and archaeological heritage, with
 iconic monuments such as the Parthenon in Athens, the
       Theatre of Epidaurus, and the ruins of Delphi

urban areas, especially in Athens and Thessaloniki,

In addition to its rich historical and cultural heritage,
Greece has been a member of the European Union since 1981
and of the Eurozone since 2001. Its economy is based on
tourism, shipping, agriculture, and industry. The official
language is Greek and the predominant religion is Greek
Orthodox
                        Languages Spoken
 The official language of Greece is Greek, a language with a rich
history dating back thousands of years. Although modern Greek is
 the predominant language, other languages and dialects are also
                   spoken in some communities:
   - Arvanitika: Spoken by the Albanian community in Greece.
  - Turkish: Spoken by the Turkish minority in western Thrace.
 - Pomako: A Bulgarian dialect, spoken by the Pomaks in Thrace.
  - Vlach: A dialect of Romanian, spoken by the Aromun people
                          Animals
   Greece has a diverse fauna thanks to its geography and Mediterranean
climate. Important mammals include the Cretan wild goat , the brown bear,
the European wolf, and the Mediterranean monk seal. All of these animals
are protected due to their vulnerability. Notable birds include the golden
       eagle, the griffon vulture, and the pink flamingo, which inhabit
mountains, cliffs, and wetlands. Among reptiles, the loggerhead sea turtle
   is known for nesting on Greek beaches, although it is endangered. The
 fauna of Greece is rich and essential for its ecosystems, and its protection
          is crucial for maintaining the country's natural balance.
