AUT Equipments - UTM
The UTM is the main computer control unit and in addition to the
motherboard and CPU (central processing unit), houses the:
• Video adapter

• Dual channel 14 bit digitizer
• The power supplies
• The proprietary interface board
• Plugs directly into an un-interruptible power supply or UPS and
operates on 100-240V, AC 50-60- Hz
• An array of diagnostic and status LEDS
to help monitor system operation

AUT Equipments - UTM
• Various input/output ports
• Storage is provided by three removable hard drives and an
integrated DVD recorder

• High level video display has a native resolution of 1200 X
1600 pixels to take full advantage of the capabilities of the
21” monitor
• The UTM must be placed in a secure, clean location with an
ambient temperature below 30°C. Care must be taken to
ensure that adequate airflow is provided all around the UTM
for the cooling fans to be effective.

AUT Equipments - UTR
The UTR is mounted on the scanner assembly. Mounting the
ultrasonic electronics close to the transducers has major
advantages.
• Signal to noise ratio is optimized due to the short probe

• Electrical noise sensitivity is drastically reduced, allowing
operation where it might otherwise not be possible

• Rugged environmentally sealed, precision machined housing
protects all the phased array and conventional ultrasonic
electronics

• Field replaceable EMI resistant “plug and play” style
modules, designed to protect the electronics while passively
shedding heat
• Microprocessor motor controller and GPS receiver reside in
this chassis
• 2 Phased array modules and 16 conventional UT channels
or 32 conventional UT channels
• Can be pressure checked for leaks

Scanner head is the general term used to describe the apparatus that
houses the probes, position encoder, drive motor, and the couplant
distribution system.

• For interior zones, the calibration reflectors consist of Flat Bottomed
Holes (FBH) usually 3-mm in diameter positioned and angled to

(LOF) along the weld line.
