Payload System (KENR9023-08)

SMCS - 7494, 7601 i06546142

The Truck Payload Measurement System (TPMS) with "second gear weighing" is a

PPI
subsystem of VIMSTM 3G. The TPMS performs the following functions:

-
202 0005
Calculates the information for the payload cycle

The onboard memory can record information for approximately 2400 payload cycles. If the register
for the payload cycle becomes full, the new data for the payload cycle is written over the data of the
oldest cycles. The onboard payload data can be downloaded for further analysis. After a successful
download, the onboard payload data can be reset.

Payload weight data can also be broadcast via a user-supplied radio telemetry system. If the radio
telemetry system has been enabled, the calculated payload weight will be broadcast under the
following conditions:

A loader pass has been detected.

The truck has been shifted into second gear and the Second Gear Reweigh feature is enabled.

A truck has Traveled with a payload for a distance that is greater than 0.16 km (0.1 miles).

Information about the complete cycle is also available to broadcast at the end of the payload
cycle.

The "load cycle" is displayed on the Advisor display. The calculated payload weight is displayed
automatically during loading. Payload status lamps provide feedback to the loader operator during
the loading operation. The payload status lamps will indicate green until the truck is fully loaded.
The payload status lamps will indicate red when the truck is fully loaded. During the loading
process, the Advisor will display the information that is listed in Table 1 to the truck operator.

Table 1

Message Description
"Loading" Continue to load the truck.
"Fully Loaded" The truck is fully loaded.
"Last Pass" An additional pass is required to load the truck fully.

The operator can access various parameters of payload via the Advisor menus at any time during
the load cycle.

Note: The last pass indicator works correctly in loading applications that require at least three
passes of the loader. When a loader pass is used to spot the truck, a minimum of four loader
passes are necessary for the last pass indicator to work.

of the payload weight.

Whenever the physical configuration of the truck has been changed a manual calibration must be
performed. The calibration procedure is performed when the truck is empty. The replacement of the
suspension cylinders is an example of a condition that would require a manual calibration.

"Automatic recalibration" of a truck occurs when an empty truck has stopped. This calibration will
compensate for conditions that can affect the empty weight of the truck. Carryback weight and fuel
weight are two variable conditions that will affect the weight of an empty truck.

Note: The automatic recalibration function has a maximum carryback weight that varies by model. If
this weight is exceeded, the operator will not receive an indication, the automatic recalibration will
not work well, and TPMS accuracy will be sacrificed. To maintain automatic recalibration accuracy,
the operator must ensure that the body is clean with little carryback.

Some parameters can be modified with the service tool to support a wide range of machine
configurations.

Information such as "total number of loads hauled" and "total weight hauled" can be displayed on
the Advisor display. These totals can be reset by the operator via the Advisor display. For example,
this function can be used to reset the totals prior to a shift change.

Onboard Features of the TPMS

The features that are listed below are the onboard features of the TPMS.

1. Calculate information for the payload cycle from the recorded data. Record the calculated
information for the payload cycle. The information for the following variables is recorded for
each payload cycle.
Time stamp - The "Date/Time" that marks the start of the payload cycle.

Payload - The weight of the material that is being moved.

Loading Time - The amount of time that is required to load the truck.

Stopped Empty Time - The "total time" that is recorded for a truck that is "stopped while
empty" during the payload cycle.

Traveling Empty Time - The "total time" that is recorded for a truck that is "traveling while
empty" during the payload cycle.

Travel Empty Distance - The "total distance" traveled by the truck while the truck was empty.

Stopped Loaded Time - The time that is recorded when a fully loaded truck is not moving
during the payload cycle.

13/06/2024, 12:09 SIS 2.0

Traveling Loaded Time - The time that is recorded when a fully loaded truck is moving during
the payload cycle.

Transmission Shifts - The total number of transmission shifts that were made during the
payload cycle.

Used Fuel - The total amount of fuel that is used during the payload cycle.

ID of the Operator - The identification number of the operator that had dumped the load for
that payload cycle. The operator must enter this number via the Advisor keypad module. This
identification number may also be used to identify the origin of the load.
2. Calculate and record the resettable totals. The totals that follow are resettable:

The total number of loads that were hauled since the onboard system was reset last

The total weight that was hauled since the onboard system was reset last

Total travel distance since the onboard system was reset last

Total travel time since the onboard system was reset last

3. Provide a means to download onboard information to the off-board system for analysis.

4. Provide calibration for the system via the Advisor display.

5. Allow the operator to configure the system for specific requirements.

Set the maximum payload weight

Turn ON/OFF last pass indicators

Turn ON/OFF Maximum Payload Speed Manager

Set the limits for the events for the Road Analysis Control

6. Display payload information on the Advisor module as the truck is being loaded.

7. Display loading status information with the payload status lamps as the truck is being loaded.

8. The following payload information is made available to broadcast:

Loader pass count

Last pass indicator

Cycle data

9. Calculate the parameters (per payload cycle) and then display the parameters that follow.

Payload weight

Payload status

Haul distance

10. Automatically adjust for the weight of an empty truck as operating conditions change.

Fuel remaining onboard

Carryback that is in the truck body or stuck to the truck underside

Note: The automatic recalibration function has a maximum carryback weight that varies by
model. If this weight is exceeded, the operator will not receive an indication, the automatic
recalibration will not work well, and TPMS accuracy will be sacrificed. To achieve automatic
recalibration accuracy, the operator must ensure that the body is clean with little carry back.

11. Detect incorrect suspension cylinder charge (collapse) and cause an appropriate event.

Off-Board Features of the TPMS

The features that are listed below are features of VIMSpc.

1. Provide a way to download the data that is recorded in the onboard system.

2. Provide a way to calibrate the onboard system.

3. Provide a way to view onboard payload-related information in real time.

4. Provide a way to analyze the recorded data that is downloaded from the onboard system:
