STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Name-Aditya Anil Savaji
The Fourth Industrial Revolution (or Industry 4.0) is the ongoing automation of traditional
manufacturing and industrial practices. It majorly involves large-scale Machine-To-Machine
Communication and the Internet Of Things (IoT) integrated for increased automation, improved
communication and monitoring, and diagnosis without the need for human intervention. India as a
country at the cusp of this transition.In the era of Industry 4.0, it is envisaged that highly intelligent
connected industrial systems create a fully digital value chain. On the one hand industrial
operations are targeting for operational profits, on the other hand the operations should be safe,
efficient and environmental benign.
As I grew up into a teenager, the prospect of how the mechanisms of machines and mobile phones
work fascinated me a lot. I chose the science field to feed my curiosity. When I was in high school
inclination towards Maths and Physics made me choose Mechanical Engineer as a career . My
major project was ‘Design and Manufacture self propelled Onion Harvestor’ where our main
objective was providing affordable machinery that can optimize labour dependency with cost
effective solution for onion harvesting.The project idea got selected ARISE LAUNCHPAD FOR
AGRI SATRTUP 2019 INCUBATION PROGRAM also awarded with Krushimauli
Innovation Award 2019. During manufacturing phase of our project we got to know problems
associated with current manufacturing industry and how Today’s Manufacturing Demands
Stresses The Need For Industry 4.0. This experience made me start developing an interest in
Smart Industries, Machine Learning, AI, data response technology, and Big Data Analytics. More
so I was amazed by the fact that how Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence is used in
Mechanical Engineering sectors such as, Product Development (Generating shape
design, Complex FEA,Problem Solving,Design optimization), Process efficiency
improvement (Quality control, Supply and demand prediction), Predictive Maintainance
(Industrial machines, Automotive, Aerospace), Material behaviour prediction,
Application of subjects such as Operational research and Management and Many more.I
was further convinced that the current demands in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
need higher education.
I am confident that the Ms-Research program in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence offered
at the IIT Bombay will allow me in enhancing my understanding of the field to a great extent. I
would like to do work in the domain of Data Science; Artificial Intelligence and Machine
Learning applications for inductive theory building in management . I strongly believe that the
curriculum, professors, peer group will continue to make IIT Bombay a melting pot of innovation
and will allow me to apply my knowledge base and interest for research to bring to fruition the
areas that I am passionate about.Also Research Eco system at IIT Bombay will provide me unique
research experience. I will able to learn from my peers, mentors and other students. The
collaboration of different companies will also provide me industrial exposure. IIT Bombay is one
of India's premier institutions for research in science and engineering branches. The contribution of
this institute to India's research is massive also.
After completing my studies at IIT Bombay I plan to join the rapidly flourishing job market for
professionals having expertise in advanced concepts related to Artificial intelligence across the
globe. The worlds of business and technology are rapidly embracing Artificial Intelligence hence
this degree will not only open professional paths but might also eventually enable me to build my
own ways to success. I might also end up deploying my skillsets to new and innovative areas
probably also strike out on the entrepreneurial path.
I am fully aware of the fact that pursuing this course requires great enthusiasm and immense
sacrifice However, I am confident that I can contribute to this realm of study with my hard work,
dedication and passion for research. I hope that my credentials justify me as a suitable candidate
for the Ms-Research pogram in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at IIT Bombay. If
provided this opportunity, I assure to prove myself as an asset to the research community and
produce some quality research work.
