FOOTBALL

HISTORY
 Football was improved by the
Chinese.
 British helped to popularize it
throughout the world.
 Football was introduced to Sri Lanka
in 1911.
FACILITIES NEEDED
A rectangular playground which is
90 - 120m in length and 45-90m in
width.
 Two goal posts at either end of the
playground.

*A team consists of 11 players.


*Players exchange the ball
with their feet.
*A goal is scored by kicking the
ball through the opposite goal
post.
SKILLS IN FOOTBALL
 Dribbling
 Kicking
 Controlling the ball

 Goal keeping
Kicking the ball
 This game is known as football as the ball is being
kicked all the time.

 Different sides of the foot are used for kicking.


1. Kicking with the inner side of the foot.
2. Kicking with the outside of the foot.

Kicking with inner side of the foot

1.Kicking is done with the curved inside


part(arch) of the foot

2. Inner side of the foot is used for;


 a kick at the goal
 a corner kick

 a penalty kick
Kicking with outside of the foot

1.Kicking is done with the instep of the foot.

2. Out side of the foot is used ;


To a penalty kick.
To pass the ball to a player at a distance.
To kick a stationary ball, hard.
Controlling the ball
 The ball should be controlled, to kick it hard in the
correct direction.

 Facts to remember when controlling the ball.


1. head, chest, abdomen and legs can be
used to control the ball.
2. sole of the foot, instep, inside and outside
of the foot, thighs and the shin are frequently
used to control the ball.
3. should control the ball coming from
above,rolling, and rebounding(bouncing)
A few methods of controlling the ball.
1. controlling the ball with the inside of the foot

2. controlling the ball with the instep

3. controlling the ball with the sole of the foot
