Procedure is related to Transas software MNS34 (b.
5225) with patch 4 and above (build 5459)
1. Transas ECDIS settings
1.1. Close all applications in ECDIS system (on all computers)
1.2. Select Sys Config from Service Tools sub menu
1.3. Type in the password: transas (case sensitive)
2. Click INS on the left side panel and then P450 tab

2.1. Press button “Generate SFIs” in the right bottom corner.
Once SFIs are generated, they are displayed in the matrix.

2.2. In the P450 tab page select sub tab page VDR.
2.3. Enter the VDR SFI. The first VDR has number VR0001. Double check this parameter in the VDR
configuration.

2.4. Define Source ID for each ECDIS station. The Source ID are predefined and can be selected from
drop down list only. The source ID is the CLASS in VDR configuration (item 2.4).
2.5. Leave all other settings as the are (default for VDR Address/port and Sync.time sec.
2.6. Start the ECDIS/Radar applications on all stations.

3. Danelec VDR settings
3.1. Connect to the VDR
3.2. Go to NOTES sub menu
2.3.1 Check the IEC61162-450 Settings
Image communication mode should be set as: Non-compliant mode (0-base, uni-cast ACK).
Confirm if the SFI of network data interface is the same as in the ECDIS configuration.
2.3.2. Go to Network interface (with VDR software 1.51 or higher)
Adjust the IP address of Network interface where the ECDIS is connected to be in the same IP
range (the same network). It’s recommended to use IP:10.8.1.123 with Mask:225.255.255.0.
NOTE: In this case the ECDIS was connected to LAN2 but it can be connected to any other not
use LAN port.
2.3 Go to IMAGE – Channels sub menu
2.4 Adjust the setting of the video channel where image should be recorded.
2.4.1. The Screen display ID prefix, Channel ID, Source info and type should be defined.
2.4.2. Image input type must be selected to Networ Mulicast (IEC61162-450).
2.4.3. Select the Retransmittable Image according to setting in the ECDIS. The same group must be
selected.

2.4.4. From drop down list select correct Network Interface (defined in the NOTES). All Data
Network Interface can be selected.
2.4.5. From drop down list select type of filter: Class or Location
2.4.6. Define Source filter according to filter type and ECDIS settings e.g.
- If ECDIS master images shall be recorded on this channel and filter is set up for Class then
Source Filter = ECDIS.1.
- If ECDIS images from 1 st ECDIS station shall be recorded on this channel and filter is set up
for LOCATION then Source Filter = W01.
NOTE : THE SOURCE FILTER IS CASE SENSITIVE – IT MUST BE DEFINED EXACTLY IN THE SAME
WAY AS IN THE ECDIS.

4. Verification (only possible from Danelec side)
3.1 Image channel
In each image channel under button “MONITOR” the image can be verify. The page contains the image
LOG file dedicated for this particular image channel.
Once TEST button will be press, new widow with real image will appear.
3.2 Tech support
Under Tech support – Image receive log the full image log can be observe.
The Image LOG contains:
- time stamp
- Retransmittable image group
- SFI number and IP address
- Confirmation if image is received correctly
- Channel – information on which channel the image is recorded
- Source – the name of the class defined for this particular image
- Location – the name of the location defined for this particular image
- Active – information if radar is in TX =yes or Standby =no mode. For ECDIS this parameter is always
YES.
3.3 VDR explorer
Play data live in the VDR explorer and confirm that image is recorded.
