He has to check that requirement in chemical cleaning is properly adhered to as indicated in this instruction, 4.3 The chemical cleaning Supervisor is responsible for the arrangement of all processes involved in the execution of chemical cleaning work. He has to make sure that standard code practice is applied accordingly. 4.4 The QA/QC personnel in charge of chemical cleaning are responsible in assuring that the requirement in this procedure are properly implemented and followed. 5.0 CLEANING SCOPE. ‘The system will be cleaning are: ‘S:I” Boiler proper: Economizer, Steam Drum, Furnace wall, Furniace Low Header, Fumace Drain line. 6.0 Necessary Precondition Check 6.1 The following systems must be normal and can be put be operation separately and have 63 corresponding operation measures. » 2) 3) 4) 5) 6) 0) 8) Demineralized water plant/Water treatment plant is in operation. Auxiliary boiler or auxiliary steam system is ready to supply steam with pressure 1.0 Mpa (temporary auxiliary boiler). Service water system. Industrial waste water system. ‘The unit drainage pit system. Nitrogen protection system for boiler (if needed). Boiler wall temperature measuring point. Make orifice plate for two main down comers put inside of steam drum with diameter @ 50 mm, plate thickness 20 mm (if needed). The Boiler have been Hydro testing, Boiler body have been insulated properly, Furnace wall area is satisfied with the seal ‘Temporary system Requirement. 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) 9) 8) 9) Finish the installation of the all-temporary pipe line and equipment according to the drawing. Finish trial operation of rotary machineries under regulation. The temporary system has been finished heat insulation with correlative steam system (ifneeded). The temporary system has made 5 Bar pressure testing; all the test results are up to standard, The pressure gauge of valves that connected temporary pipe with economizer inlet pipe and the bottom blow down tube should be more than 10 Bar. The copper core valve should do not be installed at the chemical cleaning system. Finish the installation and commission of electrical and control system (permanent system) ‘Valves at the temporary system have been disassembled and checked, all valves are up to standard. The temporary level gauge of drum has been installed; the temporary level indicator of drum is used during acid cleaning stage. Reliable communication equipment and water level monitoring equipment between ddrunt level point and ground level chemical cleaning platform. The cyclone separator inside the drum is not installed during chemical cleaning. 2 10) Name plates for valves within the scope of cleaning system have been hanged up. 11) Filling demineralized water to superheater + ammonia (PH Control = 9.0~9.5) 12) The laboratory test room at site is prepared ready and could be put in to the operation. All the instrument and chemical analyzers are qualified subject for calibration. 13) Avoid Cleaning liquid corrosion to all the pipes and equipment not take part in the cleaning by closing valves and blinding plates. 14) Discharge facilities for cleaning liquid waste have been fixed. As per project condition 15) Do not install The Check Valve on the feed water pipe of the Economizer, or enforce open the check valve if the check valve has been installed. 16) Close the primary and secondary valves of boiler sampling tube, dosing tube and instrument tubes. 17) The valves in temporary system are checked and qualified subject to disassembled. 6.4 The inside of steam drum shall be inspected before the chemical cleaning started by Client (ACSET, SOMA, & PLN) 6.5 Test plate will be put in the inside of steam drum and at least 3 pes. 6.6 The test plates shall be weighing and measure the dimension witnesses by Client. 6.7 The dimension of test plate is 20x10x3mm the material should be similar with the boiler wall, tube and economizer. 6.8 The acid inhibitor must be checked and tested in the laboratory before acid cleaning. 6.9 Estimation for the effectiveness of corrosion protection. Raise slowly the boiler Furnace wall temperature. Supervise boiler wall and drum metal temperature. The drum metal temperature difference is no more than 500C between upper part and lower part (bottom part which filled with water and ‘upper part without water). Continue Circulation after finish adding chemical start taking first time sample to read after one hour. 14,7 Alkali cleaning requirement. The drum level after filling alkaline, Adjust cleaning solution temperature to 60-700C by auxiliary steam heating. Analyzed solution sample for alkaline strength and oil content concentration in return tube Control and record the temperature periodically 14.8 Alkaline cleaning end point estimation. Run the Circulation pump within 6 - 8 hours continuously. End the alkaline cleaning when there is basically stable of oil content, alkaline concentration for 2 times check. 15.0 Alkali Cleaning Drain. Stop Circulation Pump. And Continue Circulation 16.7 Take sample from sampling valve analyzing pH flushing liquid. The flushing is over when flushing liquid pH = 7 ~ 9 The flushing should be finished within 4 hour in normal condition 17.0 Pre heating. Start Auxiliary boiler — Circulation tank- Continue Circulation 18.0 Boiler Acid Cleaning. 18.1 Preheat Boiler Furnace wall before acid cleaning, adjust the level of steamdrum level 70%. Raise slowly the boiler Furnace wall temperature. Supervise boiler wall and drum metal temperature. The drum metal temperature difference is no more than 500C between upper part and lower part (bottom part which filled with water and upper part without water). When the boiler Fumace wall tubes metal temperature reaches 60 ~ 700C stop heating. 19.0 20.0 18.2 Before admitting acid to the boiler, check to be sure that all drum vent valves are open. Elevation vent pipe at least Im above the top of steam drum. 18.3 _ Filling chemical and acid cleaning flow chart. 18.4 Step circulation pump-economizer-Steam Drum - Furnace wall - Furnace Low Header - Furnace Drain line - circulation pump. 18.5 Start one circulating of water with circulation pump, control water temperature to 60 ~ 700C. Adjust the level of steamdrum until 70%. 18.6 Fill 0.2 - 0,3% acid inhibitor to mixing tank, wait for 1 hour and then add Citric Acid 3-4%. Take sample from return tube, Analyzed Citric Acid concentration, the Citric Acid concentration is 3-4%. After finish adding chemical start taking first time sample to read after one hour. 18.7 Acid cleaning requirement. Control the drum level after filling acid, Adjust cleaning solution temperature to 60~70°C by auxiliary steam heating. Analyzed solution sample for acid strength and iron concentration in return tube and record the temperature periodically. 18.8 Acid cleaning end point estimation. Run the Circulation pump within 6 - 8 hours continuously. End the acid cleaning when there is basically stable of ferrous ion, ferric ion and Citric Acid concentration for 2 times check. End the acid cleaning when iron oxide of the monitoring sample tube has been cleaned. Acid Cleaning Drain. Stop Circulation Pump. Inject nitrogen (if needed) into the boiler and slowly open the drain valves to the temporary pond until finish Rinsing after acid cleaning. 20.1 20.2 203 Flush after acid cleaning is intended to wash away the ferrous dregs, oxide and remaining. acid liquid and isan importance stage of chemical cleaning. And Continue Circulation 20.7 Take sample from sampling valve analyzing pH and iron ion of flushing liquid. The flushing is over when flushing liquid pH = 4.5 ~ 5.0. The flushing should be finished within 4 hours in normal condition. Pre heating. Start Auxiliary boiler — Water tank- Continue Circulation Passivation. 22.1 222 22.3 224 After finish flushing, the cycle way must be as follow: cleaning tank~circulation pump-economizerboiler water wall-boiler drum-circulation pump - cleaning tank. Control drum level until 70%, control the water temperature at 60 ~ 700C by adjusting auxiliary steam pressure. Rinsing: Adding rinsing chemical to cleaning tank to make rinsing liquor add 0.2% Citric Acid. Use Ammonia to adjust pH to 3.5 ~ 4.0, keep the temperature 60~700C for 2 hours. When the ferrous ion is less than 400mg/I this step can end. If the ferrous ion is more than 400mg/I use demineralized water to replace the rinsing liquid until the ferrous ion is less than 400mg/1 Passivation: After rinsing use ammonia to adjust the pH up-to 9.0 ~ 10, add 0.2% sodium nitrite (NaNO2). Keep the temperature at 60~700C for 4-6 hours. Discharge the passivation liquor to unit drainage pit. Open manholes of drum to cool spontaneously, the safety measures must be taken after opening the manholes. Quality Control 23.1 22 ‘Test coupon for chemical cleaning During chemical cleaning process will be installed 3 test coupons to monitor with the same material as Water wall tube, Economizer in temporary pipe line with size 1,5” length 15 - 20cm. Visual check should be done before and after chemical cleaning. ‘Test coupon for pre-cleaning test Prior to Chemical Cleaning of Boiler, the test for corrosion shall be carried out to check and confirm the effectiveness of the corrosion inhibitor. Test coupon with size 20x10x3mm also should be done during chemical cleaning process and placed in ‘Temporary line and test coupon for chemical cleaning in return line. When the interval is more than 20 days between finishing the chemical cleaning, and blowing out, following corrosion prevention measures to be taken: When freezing is not a problem fill the boiler with demineralized water containing 10 ppm of ammonia and 100 ppm of hydrazine, the pH of the solution should be approximately 9 ~ 10. When freezing is a problem, the water is drainable circuits can be displaced with nitrogen and the unit lay-up under 0.3 ~ 0.5 bar nitrogen pressure. Auxiliary heat ‘may be applied to keep the non — drainable sections from freezing ‘Chemical Cleaning Waste Water Treatment. Acid cleaning and rinsing passivation waste are discharged to unit chemical pond. Waste and Water will be treated by a third party, or released. to sea according to standards PERMENLH 08/2009- Safety Precaution. 271 272 The chemical cleaning personnel must be qualified training. Complete and enough individual guard goods are prepared. The individual guard goods mainly include: rubber gloves, rubber shoes, protective glasses and protective mask. The temporary flush water pump and lime powder should be prepared at site. u 273 274 275 276 217 278 279 27.10 27.11 27.12 27.13 Electric welding, fire source and smoking are prohibited on the boiler and in the field during chemical cleaning. High altitude work is prohibited above cleaning panel, temporary laboratory test and duty room to prevent matters dropping from high place. Enough foam and fire extinguishers should be prepared for chemical cleaning in field. The materials and tools for urgent repair and eliminating defect such as steel wire, and acid resistant rubber should be prepared. The lighting is enough in field. Make barricade from color tape around the boiler, pump room and cleaning tank, and the alarming signs with notable writing of “NO SMOKING AND FIRE” “NO ADMITTANCE EXCEPT ON BUSSINUSE” “DANGEROUS ACID LIQUID “ etc. Remove all unnecessary goods remained near the system and in the access or stair after the completion of installation to guarantee unblocks access. The personnel contacting acid and ammonia should be instructed in advand and wear acid resistant clothes with rubber hood, rubber shoes, rubber glove, protective glass, respirator and protective mask. All chemicals are qualified subject to check; the inhibitor is qualified subject to small scale test in field. Eye washer/Safety shower are prepared near the job site. The operation measures of satisfying alkali boiling-out process requirements have been mate. There should have doctors or the medical team with necessary goods and rescuing person on duty in field for first aid treatment. ‘There no open fire and strictly forbidden during acid cleaning.
