Question: What is the new standard called?
Answer: There is no change in standard number used for LRPC Strands, Current number remains same as IS 14268,
however the standard issue year changed from 2017 to 2022. The changeover to the new Standard IS 14268-2022,
will come into effect from 2nd March’23

Question: What are the changes in this standard? 14268:2022 document
Answer: It will have following changes-
In general for all sizes of strand diameter tolerance
has been removed and tolerance of +/- 2 % of Unit
weight is introduced.
Besides for the common sizes used in our country,
following specific changes may please be noted
• 12.7 mm strands - Nominal size has been
changed to 12.9 mm. Only marginal change in
mechanical properties.
• 15.2 mm strand - Marginal change in
mechanical properties.
• 15.7 mm strand - This size was not available in
Indian Standard, has now been included.
• 9.5 mm strand - Nominal size of 9.5mm is
changed to 9.60mm

Question: What will happen to the old As per document from BIS
stocks? CMD-III/16 : 14268
Answer: Any stock manufactured before 2nd
Mar’23 as per IS 14268 – 2017 , can be
consumed.
As per QCO order.
Question: Do I need to change the POs from
12.7mm to 12.9mm?
Answer: For production on and after 2nd
Mar’23, Yes the POs needs to be changed
