Steps 2 & 3: Key things to watch out for

Installing driver without using DVD/Light installer
Make sure you use the correct file

• “USB composite: xxxxco.inf” file is visible in XP and Vista, but the


other .inf file should be used
• If you install xxxco.inf, the printer will be not recognized

Printer internet connectivity issues
Proxy required

T120/T520 work with AutoProxy by default, so the customer doesn’t have to enter proxy
information, simplifying internet set up. However, some networks/servers may require special
proxy information.

What to do:
1. Select “Enter Proxy” and try again
2. If error continues, ePrint Center server may be unavailable.
If that is the case, forward customer to HP ePrint & Share
support.

Turns off the printer automatically, after a period of inactivity

• Auto-Off on T120/T520 can enabled or disabled


• Auto-Off default value depends on printer’s connection (Wi-Fi and LAN, or USB)
• If Auto-Off is enabled, when the user powers the unit on again, the printer will pop up a
message about why the printer was automatically powered off.
• Auto-Off setting can be changed from front panel or EWS

Other installation issues Z-Series

Installation failed message:


• Possibly related to the computer’s firewall configuration
• Two solutions to resolve this issue:
− Before installing, disable the firewall
− After the message, run the installer again (recommended)

Error when updating Windows driver or Designjet Utility:


• Restart printer
• Delete printer queue and re-install driver
• If it still does not work, completely remove and reinstall driver
