INTRODUCTION

I am an intern at Apollo.io, a business that offers clients business intelligence services. In order
to assess the firm's standing and performance in the market, my primary responsibility is to assist
Analytics and Data department in its analysis of company, industry, and competitor data.
corporation that runs the biggest and most well-known chain of coffee shops in the world,
Starbucks, requested that I perform study for them (Britannica, 2023). report that follows, I go
over the business procedures and systems that help a company make business decisions. paper
presents a comparative analysis of the technology and tools that firms employ to facilitate
decision-making.

a, Core process

the main commercial operations of the company, such as marketing, sales, production,
distribution, and customer support, which are in charge of generating value for clients and
income for the enterprise. In addition, support processes are those that enable the business
process. According to Britannica (2023), Starbucks is the biggest and most well-known coffee
brand worldwide. Similar to other businesses, Starbucks also carries out essential business
functions. One such function is distribution, which is the transfer of products between suppliers
and buyers or between the corporation and its franchise locations. In order to decrease the
amount of items remaining in inventory for extended periods of time, the distribution process
helps the manufacturing process and ensures production continuity. Additionally, distribution
facilitates the delivery of goods and services to customers by increasing their access to items
because certain customers may not have the opportunity to speak with producers directly (Natsir,
2022).
b, Mechanism for core process

Starbucks' distribution operation, which automates inventory management and delivery among
its coffee shops and warehouses, is powered by the High Jump Software Supply Chain Execution
System. Additionally, this system gathers and retrieves the needs and demands of every coffee
shop, automating inventory orders that are then provided via delivery services connected to each
location. This technique increases Starbucks' productivity and helps them reduce waste while
keeping an eye on quality and timely delivery to coffee shops to prevent running out of popular
goods in each location. (Giles, 2023)

c, Support process

The usage of information technology is referred to as the Starbucks support procedure. Starbucks
employs information technology to assist its supply chain, improve customer experience, manage
finances, and create beverage systems, among other parts of its company. There is a significant
influence on the distribution process from the employment of information technology in the
support process.

d. Mechanism for support process

Starbucks analyzes data via the cloud. More specifically, a massive data warehouse is created
when data from Starbucks' information system is linked to mobile and cloud apps. SAS software,
a statistical analysis package that offers a wide range of analytical applications, including
advanced analytics, predictive analytics, and business information, will be used to study
customer preferences and market trends (Coursera, 2023)). Starbucks is able to provide the
greatest and most appropriate goods and services throughout particular periods of the year thanks
to this. These items' dissemination aids in the company's growth in sales and income. By
connecting data to the cloud, Starbucks can also obtain real-time diagnostic data, which makes
distribution tracking easier and more precise for the business. The cloud will also enable
automatic updates of product formulae or modifications to existing formulas for new product
releases, guaranteeing uniformity in preparation and delivery from businesses to franchised
coffee shops (Nambiar, 2021).

a. Operational: Order processing and inventory checks are only a few of Amazon's operational
tasks. Maintaining a competitive edge in the food and beverage market requires Starbucks to run
its business operations with efficiency and ease. Amazon utilizes a maintenance and management
system called TPS (Transaction Processing System) to assist this choice. This system keeps track
of every transactional piece of information needed to run day-to-day operations like order entry
and shipmentTPS also makes it possible for managers to keep an eye on how each coffee shop is
operating and how it interacts with the outside world. It also backs paying workers fairly and on
schedule according to the number of hours they put in. One useful tool that helps Starbucks staff
handle client orders is the POS system in TPS. Moreover, Starbucks employs supply chain
management systems to coordinate with suppliers and exchange data on orders, goods, and
services, as well as order delivery and inventory levels. Additionally, Starbucks is able to
consistently roast coffee beans thanks to this technique, guaranteeing that each store's coffee will
have the same flavor and unique taste. Additionally, it aids Starbucks in maintaining control over
business operations and quickly identifying and resolving process issues to prevent a negative
impact on company performance (Giles, 2023)

b. Tactical: Starbucks provides tactics to develop novel new items in order to build a devoted
following of brand supporters at the tactical level. Starbucks use the Decision Support System
(DSS), an information system that assists businesses, managers, and staff in making decisions
based on data analysis, to support these strategies. Starbucks specifically examined and verified
transaction history and current market patterns using DSS. Starbucks can identify the most
popular items or beverages in the market and devise an ideal plan to boost sales by analyzing the
purchase history of its consumers. Starbucks may then make plans to create complementary
beverages, stock their preferred goods, and boost their consumers' brand satisfaction.
Additionally, Starbucks manages projects to develop ground-breaking and inventive items in
accordance with market trends and consumer preferences by utilizing cloud-based project
management software solutions. The technology facilitates the easy access of project members to
information and updates by removing obstacles related to time, location, and space. Because they
can access the project from anywhere, they can update information for each individual more
quickly, which speeds up the project's completion (Borrello, 2022).

c. Strategic: Starbucks aggressively advocates a customer-centric approach with the aim of

boosting revenues by 29% (Cost Leadership Strategy, 2022). Starbucks aims to provide each
consumer with an exceptional experience when utilizing their goods and offerings. In order to
improve the consumer experience, Starbucks designs customized events and promotions.
Starbucks has implemented the Customer Relationship Management System (CRMS) in order to
facilitate this. In order to improve customer happiness, boost customer retention, and maximize
income, this system offers the data required to coordinate all aspect of the business process with
customers, including marketing, sales, and support services. In order to carry out this strategy,
Starbucks also uses an Executive Support System, which is software that can quickly provide
statistical data and potential results to support decision-making. The system offers free Wi-Fi to
customers at every Starbucks location and enables them to pay with a smartphone app. Bringing
wonderful experiences to consumers is specifically a top priority for Starbucks. Serving as a
"third location," offering the highest-quality coffee, and incorporating technology into operations
to improve customer experience are just a few of the tactics that Starbucks employs. In order to
help Starbucks determine which strategies are appropriate to implement and which are beyond
the company's capacity to implement, ESS supports the company's budgeting for the three
strategies, offers integrated analytical tools to visualize data, and assists Starbucks in analyzing,
comparing, and identifying opportunities and problems of the three strategies (Cost Leadership
Strategy, 2022).

CONCLUSION

Finally, information, samples of business processes, and support procedures have all been
included in my report. It also compares and contrasts the ways in which unstructured and semi-
structured data are handled in organizations, as well as the ways in which various organizational
levels of decision-making assistance are provided. Moreover, the paper includes comparisons
and contrasts between various forms of information systems and technology that may be
employed by an organization to support its operations at all levels.
