Introduction:
This method statement covers the site installation of the cable tray & ladders and the requirements
of checks to be carried out.
Cable trays and ladders:
The Cable Tray system is installed in electrical rooms, plant rooms, and service corridors. This section
will guide you through the necessary steps to ensure a successful installation.

METHOD OF STORAGE:
All materials received at the site shall be inspected and ensure that the materials are as per the
approved material submittal.
Any discrepancies, damages, etc. Shall be notified and reported for further action.
Materials found not suitable for the project are removed from the site immediately.
Cable trays and ladders are stored in a horizontal position on a flat surface with timber support
placed at an interval of one meter and covered to protect from moisture and direct sunlight.
METHOD OF PRE-INSTALLATION
Review Approved Shop Drawing.
Begin by reviewing the approved shop drawing, which includes essential details about the Cable
trays and ladders layout, length, and location of cable trays and ladders in the building.
Prepare the Materials.
Ensure that the approved material required for tray work will be available.
Proper materials including cable trays, ladders, and associated fittings accessories are withdrawn
from stores according to approved shop drawings and good engineering practices.
Materials will be physically verified for damages before being purchased from stores and
installed.
The site supervisor will check all relevant documentation and material applicable to the section
before the commencement of work.
The site engineer/supervisor will also check that the tools and equipment available comply with
contract requirements.

METHOD OF INSTALLATION
Mark Cable trays & ladders Locations
After the civil clearance to proceed with MEP installations, ensure the area is clean and ready to
start the works.
Mark the trays and ladders routes as per the approved shop drawing; ensure these are of
horizontal & vertical runs only.
Co-ordinate the routes, and levels and ensure no clashes with other services.
Maintain enough clearance for cable pulling and any access for future maintenance.

Mark the support, fix the threaded rod supports with appropriate metal plugs, and then fix the
‘L’ angles / Slotted ‘C’ channels with nuts.
A maximum of 1.2 M distance is maintained between the supports to avoid the sagging of trays
and ladders. Provide adequate support for bends, branches, and offsets.
Cutting Cable trays and ladders.
Cut the standard length/ladder to the required length with appropriate cutting tools.
Use mushroom head screws on the cable route to avoid the cable insulation damage during
pulling.
All the fittings shall be from the manufacturer.
All sharp edges and burrs shall be cleaned for pulling the cables.
Treat the cut & Drilled part with zinc paint-rich paint immediately after cutting and before
installation.
Fixing cable Trays and ladders
Sleeves shall be provided at all the wall crossings.
Ensure the installation of trays/ladders is neat and in a straight line. Trim the extra projected
supports.
Expansion provision shall be provided at all the building expansion joints and the manufacturer’s
instructions for installation shall be followed.
A copper earth link shall be installed at every joint to maintain continuity throughout the
installation and Approved fire sealant shall be provided wherever the installation crosses the
fire-rated walls.
Provide identification labels as specified to identify the service.
