Letter of Motivation:

I am writing to express my enthusiastic interest in pursuing a Master of Science degree in

Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. I belong from very privileged city of Pakistan named Mianwali
where Women’s study is less famous. I faced many problems for completing my education. The
people of my city even kill the women’s who study in the higher schools. But my father supported
me in completion of my education. Now I want to peruse my higher education in abroad because I
am crazy and very ambitious about learning. I decided to be admitted to the program for the
development and research for the production of useful products for human welfare. My interest is
to investigate the problems deeply and turn them into opportunities. However, this thirst is still not
there, to go more in-depth, to investigate deeper living from bacteria to plants of more complex
problems, and to invent.

My fascination with biochemistry began during my undergraduate studies at “University of Central

Punjab”, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology. The rigorous coursework and
hands-on laboratory experiences provided me with a comprehensive understanding of biochemical
principles and techniques. Courses such as “Molecular Biology, Methods in Molecular Biology,
Biochemistry, Microbial Biotechnology, Genomics, and Structural Biology” were particularly
inspiring, and they fueled my desire to delve deeper into the molecular aspects of life sciences.

I have always looked for entrepreneurial opportunities, I aim to work as a researcher and convert my
research into sellable ideas, win funds, create company growth, and secure food for future
generations by inventing techniques to produce more food in less time or land. That is where I want
to see myself in the future. At this stage of my career, I need to learn how to research, and how to
dig deeper into the problems. My goal is to research. I have a flair for research however; I need to
master that art.

One of the defining moments of my academic journey was my involvement in various research
projects. I have worked for 1 year and completed 2 Research Projects at Research Lab. The topic of
my research was “The digestion of food industrial FOG (fats, oil, and grease) for the production of
Biodiesel”. My major aim and focus were to “investigate a mutant gene” of some microorganisms
by using general molecular techniques and report a mutation in a specific gene that can be utilized
for biodiesel production from FOG. I have also worked on a project related to “Bioinformatics”. The
topic of this project was “Phylogenetic Comparison of Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic Genes”. In this
project, I learned how to design a project using online tools such as “BLAST, NCBI, Protein Data
Base, EMBEL, PDB”, how to write a thesis, and how to do research.

In addition to my academic and research pursuits, I have sought to broaden my practical experience
through internships and collaborative projects. An internship at “PUNAB FOOD AUTHORITY”
provided me with exposure to cutting-edge techniques in molecular biology, including EELISA and
next-generation sequencing. These experiences have not only honed my technical skills but also
taught me the importance of teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing complex
biological questions.

I am particularly drawn to UNIVERSITY OF POTSDAM because of its renowned faculty, state-of-the-

art research facilities, and a collaborative environment that fosters innovation and discovery. The
diverse research interests of the faculty, ranging from structural biology to genomics, align perfectly
with my aspirations and the esteemed faculty in the Department of Molecular who have made
significant contributions to the field of Molecular and Biochemistry research.

My long-term career objective is to contribute to the development of novel therapeutics and

diagnostic tools by unraveling the molecular mechanisms of diseases. I believe that an MSc in
Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from UNIVERSITY OF POTSDAM will provide me with the
advanced knowledge, research skills, and professional network necessary to achieve this goal. I am
committed to leveraging my background, enthusiasm, and dedication to make meaningful
contributions to the scientific community.

Your university epitomizes a vibrant academic community, rich and diverse in its field of study and
dynamic in its freedom for an explanation. Especially at UNIVERSITY OF POTSDAM, my area of
specialization is flourishing under the guidance of pioneering stalwarts in an outstanding
environment. This is why I look forward to the selection and admission committees to turn my
passion into concrete abilities not just to acquire a foundation of knowledge and practical
experience but also to its pragmatic aspect.

Regards,

AMBER NOUREEN
