by falling flat to the ground and spoked to him
with a choked voice.

Sri Raghunath dasa said: О Sri Rupa! О per­

sonification of pure goodness! You are very expert
in the science of loving devotional service. Please
tell me about how Mahaprabhu appeared in this
world, and thereby remove my doubt.

Sri Rupa Gosvami said You are indeed fortu­

nate for you have asked me an intelligent ques­
tion. Your doubt will be removed and everyone
will be benefited by hearing these names.

Hear with full attention as I reveal to you the

one thousand names of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu
and the cause of His birth.

Once Sri Radha Krsna were enjoying transcen­

dental pastimes in the groves of Vmdavana. Krsna
was fully overwhelmed in the mood of, and love
for, Sri Radha.

heart! In the beginning of Kali-yuga I will appear

By the influence of love for Sri Radha, Sri

Krsna turned golden. Krsna, the son of Yasoda,
then appeared in Navadvipa as Mahaprabhu.

Sri Krsna appeared in a golden form in this

age of Kali to propagate the Sankirtana movement.
The one thousand transcendental names of Sri
Krsna Caitanya are as follows:
 Sri Riipa mafljari is the sage of this prayer. This
prayer should be chanted with anustupa rhymes.
Sri Krsna Caitanya is the worshipable Lord of this
prayer.
(Before reciting this prayer one should meditate on
Mahaprabhu while chanting this following verse.)

Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu has a golden com-

plexioned body. His eyes are just like lotus flowers
and He holds a tridanda and a water pot in His
two hands. His entire body is overwhelmed by the
waves of ecstatic love. He is meditating on His
own holy name. His transcendental form and
nectarean words purify the entire world.

Sri Krsna Caitanya is Sri Krsna, is Krsna
Caitanya, is the maintainer of the whole universe,
is the spiritual master of the whole world, is the
Lotd of the whole world, is the sustainer of the
whole world, is the friend of the whole world and
is present within the world.

Sri Krsna Caitanya is the protector of the
world, is the creator of the world, is the cause of
the world, is full of compassion, is the personifica­
tion of compassion, is an ocean of mercy, is the
friend of the poor, and is an ocean of kindness.

Sri Krsna Caitanya is an ocean of transcen­

dental qualities, is the bestower of benedictions, is
the most magnanimous, is the giver of the holy
name, is very devoted, is always blissful, is the su­
preme person and is the Supreme Lord,

Sri Krsna Caitanya awards love of God, awards

pure devotional service, manifests ecstatic symp­
toms, is very dear to Avadhuta, is peaceful, is the

Sri Krsna Caitanya is the son of Saci, is the

origin of the universe, is the knower of pure devo­
tional service, is most learned, takes pleasure in
ecstatic devotional service and is an ocean of lov­
ing devotional service.

Sri Krsna Caitanya is full of ecstatic love, is

always absorbed in love of God, is the destroyer of
miseries in this age of Kali, is always situated in
the mode of pure goodness and is the mitigator of
the distress of the surrendered devotees.

all-attractive, is the relisher of the mellows of devo­

of pleasure to the residents of Braja, is the main­
tainer of the cows and is the maintainer of all.

Sri Krsna Caitanya is the non-dual substance,

is inexhaustible, is eternal, full of knowldege and

Sri Krsna Caitanya is very dear to the devo­

tees, is full of transcendental bliss, is full of spiri­
tual variegatedness, is very affectionate to the devo­
tees, always engaged in devotional service, is
known through devotional service and is very dear
to the devotees.

bhakta sangi soda muda ;
bhakti bhava pradata ca
bhakta jivana durlabhah

Sri Krsna Caitanya always takes pleasure in

devotional service, is the bestower of devotional
service, is always related to devotional service, is
always blissful, is the inaugurator of devotional

service, is the life and soul of the devotees and is
rarely attained by the non-devotees.

Sri Krsna Caitanya is the ultimate guardian,

is unlimited, is unchangeable, is beginningless, is
primeval, is all-pervading, is supremely effulgent

Sri Krsna Caitanya is the enjoyer of the both

material and spiritual worlds, is beyond the juris-

sion, is the proprietor of Maya, is situated beyond
the control of Maya and is completely transcen­
dental.

Sri Krsna Caitanya is the almighty Who is

beyond the modes of material nature, is limitless,
is pervaded throughout the world, is eternal, is the
source of everything, is the knowledge, is the ob­
ject of knowledge and an ocean of transcendental
qualities.

ties, is the supreme controller, is the supreme cause
of everything, is the only doer, is the cause of all
actions and the source of unmanifested form.

Sri Krsna Caitanya is inconceivable, is the

object of meditation, has a transcendental form,
is very subtle, is also the source of gross elements,
is full of opulence, is most pure, is the Absolute
Truth, is simply great and the supreme being.

Sri Krsna Caitanya is the performer of benefi­

cial activities, is the ultimate performer, is the
supersoul, is as great as an ocean, is the possessor
of mahabhava, is the relisher of ecstatic love of
God and is fond of tumultuous kiirtana.

Sri Krsna Caitanya is the bestower of pure love

of God, is a great renunciate, made a glorious ad­
vent, is the giver of loving sentiments, is most sa­
cred, is most wise and the crest jewel among all
perfected personalities.

goodness, is peaceful, is beyond sense perception,
is always uncontaminated, is as unfathomable as
an ocean and the bestower of all auspiciousness.

Sri Krsna Caitanya is an embodiment of tran­

scendental rasas, takes pleasure in enjoying tran­
scendental relationship, is the enjoyer of transcen­
dental pleasure, is the festival of all rasas, is always
intoxicated with ecstasy and is always engaged in
chanting the Hare Krsna maha-mantra.

Sri Krsna Caitanya always meditates on the

maha-mantra, glorifies the maha-mantra, chants

Sri Krsna Caitanya is the knower of the glo­

ries of the maha-mantra, always utters the Hare
Krsna maha-mantra, is the preacher of the maha­
mantra and the cause of everyone’s deliverance.

Sri Krsna Caitanya is the eradicator of all mis­

eries, the destroyer of all sinful reactions and the
only savior of the most sinful people of this formi­

Sri Krsna Caitanya delivered the people of the

whole world by distributing the holy name of Hari,
is the great Lord, is Krsna Himself, is the son of

lion, possesses strongly built arms, has appeared in
Nadiya, is rarely atttained, resembles a golden
moon, is in the mode of pure goodness and had
appeared to propagate His own name.

Sri Krsna Caitanya is the giver of Krsna’s

mercy, is all-pervading, is the son of Vasudeva, is

of Laksmi and the ultimate goal of the devotees.

Sri Krsna Caitanya possesses all opulence, has

lotus-like hands, is the greatest of all, is served by
the goddess of fortune, is worshiped by Radha, is

loved Lord of Radhika and is the enchanter of the
minds of the cowherd men and women.

mon, is the abode of all opulence, is the beloved
Lord of Radha, is the beloved Lord of the gopis
and the husband Radha.

Sri Krsna Caitanya is the Lord of Vrndavana,

is the Lord of Braja-maridala, resides in His own

ing pastimes in the groves, is fond of wandering
about in Braja and is the blissful King of
Vrndavana.

with peacock feathers and jewels, has arms which

Sri Krsna Caitanya’s throat resembles a conch,

his eyes resemble lotus petals, His lips are as red as

bracelets and armlets, is adorned with jewels and

ments, is decorated with a fine white brahmin

Sri Krsna Caitanya enjoys pastimes in His own

grove, relishes amorous pastimes in His own grove,
is most enchanting, is personified sweetness and is
as effulgent as millions of moons.

Sri Krsna Caitanya has beautiful shining teeth

which resemble kunda flowers, has a pearl on the
tip of His nose, has a dot of sindura on His fore­
head and looks as glittering as millions of suns.

Sri Krsna Caitanya is dressed in divine gar-

- ments, wears a divine necklace, is decorated with
divine ornaments and His attractive lotus face and

dental forms and expansions, has thousands of eyes, ’
heads and mouths, has thousands of bodily colors,1
is the life and soul of the universe, and has thou-'

 Sri Krsna Caitanya is non different from ‘orh’
which is a combination of a-u-m, is the form of
spiritual bliss and is known as Sri Caitanya
Mahaprabhu.

Sri Krsna Caitanya is the moon-like personal­

ity who has appeared in the dark night in the form
of Kali-yuga. I offer my respectful obeisances to
the son of Saci who is the ultimate benefactor of
all living entities in this age of Kali.

Sri Krsna Caitanya is the origin of the ten prin­

ciple incarnations but He Himself is the Supreme
Personality of Godhead. He incarnated in this
world to reveal the ecstatic mood of Radha.

asesena prakdsitam

One who chants this most rare one thousand

transcendental names of Sri Krsna Caitanya with
devotion, certainly attains the unlimited mercy of
Mahaprabhu.

punarjanma naivapnoti
krsna bhaktisca sasvaii

 All inauspiciousness of a person who chants
this prayer and worships this book is surely de­
stroyed. Such a person does not take birth again
in the material world but attains eternal devotional
service to Krsna.

ndmndm sahasram uttamarh
Ota lake pare vdpi
vayarh sarvarh pranasyati

Ono who daily reads or hears these transcen­

dental thousand names will become free from all
types of fear both in this life and in the next.

subham ndma sahasrakam
sarvapdpa vinirmuktah
jdyate ndtra sarhsayah

There is no doubt that a person who gets up

in the morning and chants these auspicious thou­
sands names of Mahaprabhu, becomes liberated
from all sinful reactions.

sarva aparadha yuktopi

This Caitanya sahasranama is best among all

mantras and is a transcendental prayer. Anyone
who chants, reads or meditates on this prayer with
a pure heart will certainly become relieved from
incurable diseased conditions and all types of of­
fenses.

caitanya janma vasare
yah pathet sraddhya yukto
bhaktim ca labhate dhruvam

A devotee who faithfully recites this prayer

on the appearance day of Lord Caitanya which
falls in the full moon day in the month of Phalgun
will certainly attain pure devotional service.

datavyarh krsna bhaktdya
na abhaktaya kadacanah
yadi lobhdt pradatavyam
satu pope pralipyate

This transcendental prayer should only be

given to a devotee of Krsna and should never be
given to a non-devotee. If out of greed someone
gives it to a non-devotee he will incur sin.

Even if a sinful person has committed unlim­

ited sinful activities for hundreds and thousand of
years, if he simply chants these transcendental
names of Caitanya he will become delivered from
all sinful reactions.

kalau yuge maha ghore
maha papa rato narah
mahaprabhor mahdmurtih
kalau papa vibhanjanah.

People who are attached to commiting grave

sinful activities in this age of Kali will become re­
lieved of their sinful reactions if they take shelter
of the lotus feet of Sri Mahaprabhu.

mahaprabhor vina kopi
jagad uddara kdrakah

О Raghunatha das! Listen carefully as I am

telling you the truth. There is no one other than
Mahaprabhu who can deliver the fallen souls of
the whole world.

sthapito vaisnavo dharmah
krsni bhakah prdkasita
evam dayamayarh ко va
mahdprabhum vind bhuvi

Who is more merciful than Sri Caitanya

Mahaprabhu? He descended to establish vaisnava
dharma and to distribute devotional service to
Krsna.
