Welcome to our TLE class specializing 2D Animation!

It’s a brand-new day, today we will dive into an important topic:

Control Hazards and Risks. Everyday, we encounter potential
hazards and risks in various environments, whether at home,
school, or in a workplace. Identifying how to control these hazards
is crucial for our safety and well-being.

The teacher groups the learners by five (5). .

* Show images on the screen. Let them identify the images. Scramble
the letters to form the correct name of the equipment.

Alright! That was a wonderful recall activity, and I'm impressed with
how well you all did in sharing ideas with the class!

Lesson The teacher says…

Purpose/Intention
Now that we have learned that there are many equipment that can
(2 minutes) be used in different situation/ emergencies. A good hazard
assessment will identify the right type of PPE to be used.

Now, let us investigate more with our next episode of learning.

Using the images presented awhile ago, in your group identify the
functions and the corresponding emergencies where the equipment

The use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) protects workers

from injury. Personal Protective Equipment must be used and worn
in many work situations to protect employees from harm.

What are the things to be considered in selecting the right type of

equipment to be used during emergencies?

(The learners will share their thoughts)

(The teacher says)

Great thoughts, everyone!

We should have good assessment method to properly select the

tools/ equipment to be used during emergencies. It is important to
have a checklist and good assessment too.

SET 2: Personal Protective Equipment Inspection Checklist

Assessments

A hazard assessment will identify when PPE needs to be used,
in what circumstances, and who must wear it.
Maintenance

The equipment should be well maintained and stored
correctly. It must be repaired or replaced when necessary.
 Protective helmets must be worn where there is a risk of
falling debris.
 Aprons, gloves and shields are necessary where there is
possible spillage or splashes of chemical, blood or other
hazardous material.
 Protective, steel-toe boots should be worn where there is a
risk of damage to a worker’s feet.
 Goggles or other eye-protection devices should be worn
whenever there is a danger of the eyes being splashed or
damaged in the course of work.
Compliance

When safety boots or head-protection equipment is worn, it

must comply with the Standards Safety Requirements.
 A respirator may be required in some workplaces.
 Eye wash material will need to be kept on the site where there
is a danger of splashes in the eyes. Where PPE such as
goggles or safety helmets are required, a notice to this effect
should be posted at the entrance to the workplace.

(After giving them a few moments)

Alright, it seems like everyone has finished reading their article.

Now, I would like to invite volunteers to come up and read their

9

assigned sections to the class.

(Call for volunteers, one for each set to read their sections)

Thank you to all the volunteers for reading the article sections. You
did a fantastic job. Now, let's take a moment to appreciate the effort
and practice in their reading. I want to make a few pronunciation
corrections to ensure we understand the words clearly.

(Provides pronunciation corrections as necessary, emphasizing key

words from the article)

Thank you for your participation and engagement in this reading

activity. It's wonderful to see your progress. Now, let's move on to
our next activity, where we will discuss the selection and share our
thoughts.

Developing Now that we have read the article, I want to hear from all of you
Understanding of about what you learned. Please raise your hand if you can answer
the Key Idea/Stem the following questions:

(10 minutes)

1. What is the selection all about?

(Possible answers)

The set A is all about the types and uses PPE.

Set B is about PPE inspection equipment.

2. How can the correct use and maintenance of Personal Protective

Equipment (PPE) contribute to enhancing public safety and order in
environments with potential hazards?

3. What are the key steps to ensure PPE is effectively used?

(Learner’s share varies answer answers)

Now, I would like you to return to your groups. I have prepared a

task for you to complete based on the article you read. Each group

will receive a table of information to fill in with.

LET’S GET READY, IT’S EMERGENCY!

Equipment Functions

(After around 3 minutes)

It looks like most groups have finished completing the table. Now, I
would like to invite one representative from each group to share
their completed table with the class.

(Learners share their completed table)

Now, let's take a moment to compare the information shared by

each group. Can you spot any similarities or differences in the
responses?

(Students share their answers)

Great observations, everyone!

Deepening To deepen your understanding of the lesson, I would like to ask this
Understanding of questions:
the Key Idea/Stem
1. As young individuals how can you communicate effectively the
(5 minutes) importance of PPE to your peers?

2. Describe a situation where improper use of PPE could lead to an

accident or health issue.

11
LESSON SCRIPT IN TLE 9

3. What steps should be taken to avoid such situations?

4. How would you conduct a simple risk assessment to determine

what type of PPE is needed for a particular task or environment?

The learner responses.

Excellent! It is essential to utilize personal protective equipment

(PPE) correctly as it shields users from dangerous materials,
reduces the risk of injury, and contributes to the upkeep of a secure
workplace. PPE such as goggles and gloves helps to prevent
chemical burns and eye injuries in lab settings. Safety glasses and
helmets guard against falling debris and objects when working in
construction. PPE, such as masks and gloves, stops illnesses from
spreading in the medical field.
