1)Population Statistics: Statistics plays a crucial
role in understanding the demographic makeup of
the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Census data
provides information about population size, age
distribution, literacy rates, and socio-economic
indicators. These statistics are essential for
government planning, resource allocation, and
policy-making.

2)Tourism and Economic Data: Statistics are used


to analyze tourism trends in the Andaman and
Nicobar Islands. Data on tourist arrivals,
expenditure patterns, preferred destinations, and
seasonal variations help stakeholders in the

Education and Literacy Rates

Statistics on literacy rates, school enrollment, and


educational outcomes are crucial for assessing
the educational landscape of the islands. These
statistics help identify areas for improvement,
allocate educational resources effectively, and
ensure equitable access to quality education for
all residents

As per details from Census 2011, Andaman and


Nicobar Islands has population of 3.81 Lakhs, an
increase from figure of 3.56 Lakh in 2001 census.
Total population of Andaman and Nicobar Islands
as per lastest census data is 380,581 of which male
and female are 202,871 and 177,710 respectively. In
2001, total population was 356,152 in which males
were 192,972 while females were 163,180. The total
population growth in this decade was 6.86 percent
while in previous decade it was 26.94 percent. The
population of Andaman and Nicobar Islands forms
0.03 percent of India in 2011. In 2001, the figure was
0.03 percent.
Healthcare and Public Health

Statistical data on healthcare infrastructure,


disease prevalence, vaccination coverage, and
health outcomes are essential for planning and
delivering healthcare services in the Andaman and
Nicobar Islands. These statistics guide public
health interventions, disease prevention
strategies, and healthcare policy decisions.

The Health indicators of the UT present a very good


picture despite many constraints. Our birth rate at
present (2006) is 15.30 and Death rate is 4.89 per
thousand population which is much below the
national average of 24.1 and 7.5 respectively in
2004. Infant mortality rate at present (2005) is
16.39 per thousand live births against the national
average of 58 (in 2004). Maternal mortality rate is
131 per lakh live births implying excellent natal
care. Couple Protection Rate is 58.16% and total
Fertility Rate has come down to 2.1/1000, which is
supposed to be achieved by 2014. The percentage
of institutional delivery by skilled person is 82%.
What Are Real Numbers?

Real numbers are simply the combination of


rational and irrational numbers, in the number
system. In general, all the arithmetic operations
can be performed on these numbers and they can
be represented in the number line, also. At the
same time, the imaginary numbers are the un-real
numbers, which cannot be expressed in the
number line and are commonly used to represent a
complex number. Some of the examples of real
numbers are 23, -12, 6.99, 5/2, π, and so on. In this
article, we are going to discuss the definition of
real numbers, the properties of real numbers and
the examples of real numbers with complete
explanations.
Classification Of Real
Numbers
Rational Numbers A rational number is a
type of real number,
which is in the form of
p/q where q is not
equal to zero. Any
fraction with non-zero
denominators is a
rational number. Some
of the examples of
rational numbers are
1/2, 1/5, 3/4, and so on.
The number "0" is also
a rational number, as
we can represent it in
many forms such as
0/1, 0/2, 0/3, etc. But,
1/0, 2/0, 3/0, etc are not
rational numbers.

Integers Integers are the


collection of whole
numbers and negative
numbers. Similar to
whole numbers,
integers also does not
include the fractional
part. Thus, we can say,
integers are numbers
that can be positive,
negative or zero, but
cannot be a fraction.
We can perform all the
arithmetic operations,
like addition,
subtraction,
multiplication and
division, on integers.
The examples of
integers are, 1, 2, 5, 8,
-9, -12, etc. The symbol
of integers is "Z".

Whole Numbers The whole numbers


are the part of the
number system which
includes all the
positive integers from
0 to infinity. These
numbers exist in the
number line. Hence,
they are all real
numbers. We can say,
all The complete set of
natural numbers along
with '0' are called
whole numbers. The
examples are: 0, 11, 25,
36, 999, 1200, etc. The
whole numbers are
real numbers, but not
all the real numbers
are whole numbers.

Natural Numbers
Natural numbers are
a part of the number
system which
includes all the
positive integers
from 1 till infinity and
are also used for
counting purpose. It
does not include zero
(0). In fact, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,
6, 7, 8, 9…., are also
called counting
numbers. The set of
natural numbers is
represented by the
letter "N". N = {1, 2, 3,
4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10…….}

Irrational numbers
Irrational numbers
are real numbers that
cannot be
represented as
simple fractions. An
irrational number
cannot be expressed
as a ratio, such as
p/q, where p and q
