GUIDELINES FOR THE PREPARATION OF B. TECH MAJOR-PROJECT WORK REPORT

1. Size and copies:


The major project report should be submitted in A4 size executive bond paper
and the hard copy must be done so that each student has one copy and the
whole batch will submit one copy to the coordinator. softcopy in the form of
CD/DVD (includes PPT,entire documentation, project code and necessary
software to run the code) to be submitted to the Major Project coordinator. The
final copies should be prepared after showing the rough copy to the guide and
take the approval from internal guide before binding.

3 CD 's are required (1-Guide,1-Coordinator,1-Main Library)

2. Paper, Typing & Format:


Bond paper should be used for the preparation of the major-project report.
Typing should be done on the 12 font size letter, Times New roman font type.
The lay-out should provide 1 ½ inch on the left side, 1 inch on top, bottom and
right side. Line spacing should be 1.5 lines (1 ½ spacing) throughout the report.
The page number shall be indicated at the Bottom- Center of each page.
3. Binding:
The report must be properly binded using Hard Binding.

4. First Page: Refer the word document.


5. Second page: Refer the word document.
6. Third page: Refer the word document.
7. Fourth page: Refer the word document.
8. Fifth Page(Optional):
The fifth page may contain organization certificate where your project was implemented.

9. Sixth Page:
The sixth page may contain an abstract of the project work. Abstract should contain
minimum of 150 words and maximum of one page

10. Seventh and Eighth page:


In these pages the candidate must provide a table of contents, list of tables, list
of figures, and abbreviations. (Index page is strictly according to the Sample
Document)

NOTE: All the above pages are to be numbered in Roman numerals of lower
case and the rest of the thesis should have English numerical numbers.

11. Number of pages:


75 – 100 (Excluding roman numbered pages)

12. Arrangement of Chapters:


The following is suggested format for arranging the project work matter into
various chapters. However this arrangement can be changed to suit the
particular Project work.

1. Introduction
This chapter must describe introduction, Problem statement, scope and
objective of your project.
2. Literature Survey/Existing System
3. Software Requirement Analysis
 Functional requirements definitions
 Nonfunctional requirements definitions
4. Software Design
The design part must include the following items
 DFDs in case of Database projects
 UML diagrams. This UML diagrams must include the following
Class Diagrams
Sequence diagrams
Activity diagrams
Use case diagrams
 Control Flow diagrams (if any)
 Database Design
For database projects, the report must include the following items.
E-R Diagrams
5. Proposed System
 Define the modules and their functionalities
6. Coding
Consist of coding or code outline for various files
Explain each class with functionality and methods with input and output
parameters.
For Database projects, the report consisting of
o Tables – explaining all fields and their data types
o Stored procedures (PL/SQL)
7. Testing
Various test cases (two or three) for black box and white box testing
8. Output Screens / Results
Should include all user interfaces and output screens.
9. Conclusion and Further Work
References
Appendices (if any).

13. The arrangement of paragraph in a Chapter :


Each topic Title in a chapter should be properly numbered for example: 2.1, 2.2.
etc., (Bold and Upper case) where, the first digit represents the Chapter number,
and second digit, the topic Title number.

Sub-topic titles, if any, may be indicated as 1.1.1, 1.1.2, etc. (Bold and title case)
i.e. the first digit representing the chapter, the second representing the topic title
and the third representing the sub-topic title.

14. Figures and Tables:


The figures and tables occurring in a chapter may be serially numbered as Fig:
1.1, 1.2 etc., where the first digit represents the chapter, the second digit
represents figure number.

15. Graphs :
The graph should clearly indicate the points which are used for drawing the curve
or curves.

Bibliography
The following format may be used for the Bibliography / References:
For Book
