article tries to answer these questions.

The Design Odyssey

Let the Domain Drive the Design
Object-oriented design, when driven by the domain, decomposes huge
monolith systems into a set of agile microservices. Domain-driven design has
changed the narration of the object-oriented approach upside down. It has
brought the domain objects onto the centrestage of design thinking, and
relegated the technology to the peripheral infrastructure. In this fourth part of
the ‘The Design Odyssey’ series, let us examine this approach to software
design in some detail.

Why Open Source is a Serious Business Today

Open source software has been around for a few decades now, but has
recently become a popular choice for many organisations, small and big. What
has changed? Why is open source, which was looked upon as software to be
used by people who did not want to or couldn’t spend money, in demand today?
Let’s find out.
How to Build a Community and Why it Matters
Building and sustaining an open source community is certainly not a bed of

Java Dead?
Java has been one of the most in-demand languages for over 20 years now. It
is widely used across the industry and is often a compulsory part of the syllabus
in most computer science courses across the world. But many developers are
beginning to see it as an aged and primitive programming language, which, they
predict, will soon become obsolete. This article tries to get to the heart of this
issue by analysing popular developer surveys.

An Introduction to Low-Code and No-Code Test Automation

Tools
In today’s application development world, low-code and no-code software are

range of devices, including smartphones, understanding the market
requirements and the implications of no-code and low-code software is very
important today. Low-code and no-code test automation tools help to overcome
software development issues across different platforms.

Terraform:The Cloud-Agnostic Solution for Infrastructure as

Code
Infrastructure as Code (IaC) makes the life of a cloud engineer easier in many
ways. But it is still complex to manage the cloud and its operations in large
enterprises. When we think of a cloud-agnostic solution for IaC in a multi-cloud
environment, we can think of HashiCorp’s Terraform.

CENTRE HAS BANNED ‘DANGEROUS’ DOG BREEDS AS PETS:

Animal Husbandry and Dairying has decided to ban the import, breeding and sale of certain
breeds of dogs certified as dangerous by an expert committee set up by it. The banned breeds
include Pitbull Terrier, Tosa Inu, American Staffordshire Terrier, Fila Brasileiro, Dogo
Argentino, American Bulldog, Boerboel, etc. This is because the deaths of people due to bites
by ferocious breeds of dogs kept as pets were reportedly increasing. Further, a large number of
citizens had petitioned the government for a ban on these ferocious breeds. Dogs of these
breeds already kept as pets would need to be sterilised and he report doesn’t touched upon the
issues of street dogs.

CAA, NRC AND THE POLITICS AROUND IT:

On March 11, less than a month before the Lok Sabha election, the Union ministry of home
affairs notified the Rules under the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), 2019, that persons
who belong to the six religious groups (Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Buddhist, Christian and Parsi
immigrants from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan) , if they have entered India before
December 31, 2014, and lived in the country for five years, can apply for citizenship, provided
they have one of the supporting documents listed in the rules. But there is no mention that this
law will be applied only to refugees or those who have been persecuted.
WEBB TELESCOPE FINDS MARGARITA, VINEGAR AND LIFE INGREDIENTS
IN SPACE:

This hints the fundamental processes that could lead to the birth of habitable worlds. These
discoveries build upon previous observations by Webb, which had already uncovered diverse
ices within the cold, dark recesses of molecular clouds (with complex organic substances).
Simpler molecules, including formic acid, methane, formaldehyde, and sulfur dioxide, were
also detected. Notably, sulfur dioxide and other sulfur-containing compounds are believed to
have played a crucial role in driving metabolic reactions on primitive Earth, further
underscoring the significance of these findings.

HYBRID UNMANNED AERIAL UNDERWATER VEHICLE: BIOMIMICRY

IIT Jodhpur researchers have developed a robust control system and design for a hybrid
unmanned aerial-underwater vehicle which might be useful for tasks like mapping oil spills on
beaches, rivers, or underwater erosion and pollution dispersion. By developing a sound
mathematical system that drives these vehicles, this research will help make them more capable
and efficient, and better applicable to their functions such as lifeguard rescue efforts, and even
underwater and aerial photography. The team has developed this system by taking inspiration
from a species of bird, Anhingas, that are both able to move on land and underwater which is
an example of biomimicry. The prototype has been tested for aerial, water surface, and
underwater manoeuvring using Remote Control (RC) transmission.
MICROPLASTICS FOUND IN ARTERIES RAISE CONCERNS OVER RISK OF
HEART ATTACK:

Researchers have issued a warning about the dangers of plastic pollution after discovering a
higher risk of stroke and heart attack with plastic particles in the blood vessels. It was found
that more than half of the fatty plaques removed from patients’ blood vessels were
contaminated with tiny particles of plastic like polyethylene or polyvinyl chloride (PVC).
Further research is needed to confirm the role of plastic pollution in cardiovascular diseases,
but scientists highlight the need for greater attention to the impact of microplastics and nano
plastics on human health.

OCEANS ARE HEATING UP: FEBRUARY RECORDS HIGHEST SEA SURFACE

TEMPERATURES:

The average global sea surface temperature soared to an unprecedented high of 21.06 degrees
Celsius in February 2024. There is a continuous trend of escalating ocean temperatures. It’s
record-breaking warmth for the ninth consecutive month. Marine biologists are sounding the
alarm over what appears to be the onset of the fourth global mass coral bleaching event in the
Southern Hemisphere, potentially the most devastating one yet. The current spike in ocean
temperatures is attributed to a combination of the El Nino phenomenon, which introduces
warmer surface waters in the Eastern Pacific, and the relentless climb of greenhouse gas
emissions fueling climate change. Antarctic sea ice reached its third lowest extent on record in
February, falling 28% below the average and signaling distress in polar ecosystems as well.
NO WATER CRISIS IN BENGALURU, SAYS KARNATAKA DEPUTY CHIEF
MINISTER:

“As far as Bengaluru goes, there is no water crisis. Around 7,000 borewells have dried up. We
have made arrangements for all that,” said DK Shivakumar. Due to the water crisis, the
Karnataka Water Supply and Sewerage Board had banned the use of drinking water for car
washing, gardening, construction, and maintenance. The Mekedatu multi-purpose (drinking
and power) project involves building a balancing reservoir near Kanakapura in Ramanagara
district. The estimated Rs 9,000-crore project, once completed, is aimed at ensuring drinking
water to Bengaluru and neighbouring areas, and it can also generate 400 MW of power.
