iii) 0.365 g of pure HCl gas is dissolved in 50 mL of solution.

10. Calculate the molarity of pure water (d = 1 g/L).

11. What volume of 95% sulphuric acid (density = 1.85 g/cc) and what mass of water must be taken to prepare
100 cc of 15% solution of sulphuric acid? (density 1.10 g/cc)
12. If the density of methanol is 0.793 g/mL, what is its volume needed for making 2.5 L of its 0.25 M solution?
13. Molarity of H2SO4 is 0.8 and its density is 1.06 g/mL. What will be its concentration in terms of molality and
mole fraction.
14. A 6.9 M solution of KOH in water contains 30% by mass of KOH. Calculate the density of the KOH solution.

1. Molarity of a solution is the number of mole of the solute dissolved per litre of the solution. The volume
changes with the change of temperature, i.e., molarity changes with change in temperature. However, molality
is indepdent of change in temperature as it is the number of moles of the solute dissolved in 1 kg of the
solvent (mass does not vary with temperature). It is, thus better to express concentration in terms of molality.
